So, Baracky, instead of allowing people to defend themselves, do you want to issue everyone a personal policeman? Is there no recognition of the basic human right of self-defense in the new America you want to lead? Are you finally allowing your personal beliefs in the ultimate liberal's nirvana of perpetual Government micromanagement of every citizen's personal well-being to shine forth like the light beams from your holy head?
Self-defense is a basic human right. You can't rely on the Government to be protect you every waking moment, or be there every time you might want or need some help. Our country wasn't built for perpetual Government intervention at the individual level. Sure, it's nice to have a Police force, but can they be everywhere at once? While one stands or sits around dialing 9-1-1, an aggressor might put an end to a life. Then, there's a police report filed somewhere on your behalf. "So sorry; next call, please?"
We should, each and every one of us, have a modicum of ability for personal protection, if we so desire. Even the possibility that an individual may be armed forces thugs and criminals to have second thoughts. There are no Hollywood-style fights involving Concealed Carry Permit Holders taking place in our streets; instead, we've seen crime rates drop in states that 'allow' their citizens to arm themselves.
The other two Presidential candidates favor Concealed Carry Permitting. Surprisingly, even Hillary Clinton, I suppose having learned a lesson from the Al Gore 2000 loss (Al's losing his home state of Tennessee primarily because of the NRA's strong campaign efforts against him). Both Hillary and John McCain favor shall-issue laws permitting personal, concealed carry weapons.
This new positioning by Obama is directly in opposition to his earlier campaigning...from Amanda's column, a quote from Obama's February ABC-Politico forum...
“I think it's important for us to recognize that we've got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage. And so I think there is nothing wrong with a community saying we are going to take those illegal handguns off the streets. And cracking down on the various loopholes that exist in terms of background checks for children, the mentally ill. We can have reasonable, thoughtful gun control measure that I think respects the Second Amendment and people's traditions."Does Obama not realize what problems such easily identified flip-flopping can create in his campaign? He's already reeling from Rezko and Wright, and people who aren't roped in by his freaky Jesus imitations are wondering what's really under the surface. We're starting to get the picture...an immature and mistake-prone politician who has only his charisma and voice projection to get him from point A to B. Baracky has no direction; flip-flops like these illustrate his inexperience and malleability.
If Baracky keeps making these missteps, even his 'Jesus' persona won't get him elected. Unless of course he can do some real miracles.
Or he can continue to hoodwink the easily-swayed crowds of supplicants who can't much think past the hopeyness-changeyness shallowness.
