Happy Mother's Day! Two Norman Rockwell potraits...Mothers at their best
Mother's Little Angel, Norman Rockwell's cover for the Literary Digest, January 20, 1921. Follow that link for more info on Norman Rockwell's work.
Norman Rockwell's "Mother Spanking her Child".
Mom's definitely not reading the Geneva Convention, Dan, but a new-fangled book on Child Psychology.
This painting adorned the front cover of the Saturday Evening Post dated November 25, 1933. We see under the chair a hammer, a busted vase, a smashed alarm clock, and the broken mirror. It seems a spanking was in order.
With the correct parental influence and guidance, this child probably grew up to have a decent, well-adjusted life.
Thanks to all the mothers out there who helped all of us who have that sort of life, do so.
