Liberals seek health-care access for illegalsThey can buy insurance right now. No one is stopping them. They buy auto insurance for their rides, right? But it's so much easier just to duck into an emergency room and pay...nothing. Why not go for their votes, Dems, and just eliminate even the suggestion of requiring some personal responsibility?
"Legal permanent residents should be able to purchase their plans, and they should also be eligible for subsidies if they need it. Undocumented, if they can afford it, should be able to buy their own private plans. It keeps them out of the emergency room," said Rep. Michael M. Honda, California Democrat and chairman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.
Now, legal immigrants should be eligible for the same benefits (sigh) as anyone else. But I don't see how we can reward lawbreakers, because they are here, well, illegally. And they're trying so hard to integrate, you know? Just like the immigrants of yore, who make up the backbone of this nation, right? Right?
