Huckabee is finished. No Presidency for you.

Huckholio’s finished running for prezzidint. Hate that, really.
UPDATE: The dirty bastard cop killer might be dead...
SEATTLE — A suspect in the slaying of four police officers who were gunned down in a suburban coffee shop was surrounded by police at a Seattle house early Monday, wounded and possibly dead, police said.

Negotiators were trying to communicate with Maurice Clemmons, 37, using loudspeakers, explosions and even a robot to try to prod him from hiding. At one point, gunshots rang through the neighborhood, about 30 miles from the original crime scene.

"We have determined that in fact he has been shot," said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff. "He may be deceased from his gunshot wound."
A heroic last shot from a dying officer may have finished this SOB. Justice, that would be.

Hope it was a gut-shot.

Michelle Obama will need Valium at every State function from now on I'm afraid...

[M'chelle, later, to Barry]: Honey, did you hear about how Vince Young orchestrated a grueling 99-yard drive in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter that ended with a 10-yard TD toss to Kenny Britt with no time left on the clock, to crush the Arizona Cardinals on their first visit to LP Field? WHY CAN'T YOU BE ALL COOL AND HIP LIKE VINCE YOUNG, YOU BOW AND KOWTOWING THIRD-STRINGER?!!

Frankly, it might be a good time for the president to battle his left flank and demonstrate some moxie, if he has it. The world and a vast number of centrists in America, not to mention conservatives, think he’s a wimp. This is his time to prove them wrong.
Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen, Jennifer.

Vince Young leads the Tennessee Titans on a remarkable 4th Quarter final drive for 99 yards to an upset win over the Arizona Cardinals.

I just got home from LP Field, and lemme tell you: no one left that stadium early. Three 4th down conversions on that 99-yard drive, a nail-biter. Fans mentioned calling this drive the 'Music City Miracle II'; not so much, but this drive will go down as one we finished. No stinkin' yard short in this game!

(The ball is just visible in the upper left corner.)

Kenny Britt scores with 0:00 on the clock; a 10 yd. pass from Vince Young

Tennessee's got a steaming pile of crow to serve up, cooked with extry-special # 6 Vince Young Wonderlic gravy. Just the thing for any perennial Titans haters to chow down on!
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- On rubbery legs, Titans coach Jeff Fisher summed up what everyone just saw.
"You guys don't mind if I sit down and do this do you? OK. WOW! What a great finish!" Fisher said as he slumped behind the podium. "We've had some finishes around here, but I can't remember one like that. Just a tremendous finish."
Vince Young outdueled Matt Leinart again with yet another spectacular winning drive. He hit a leaping Kenny Britt for a 10-yard touchdown as time expired, and the Tennessee Titans rallied to beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-17 Sunday for their fifth straight victory.
Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt compared the disappointment to losing the Super Bowl in February.
"It's as close to that as possible because we knew today that it would be difficult against this team, and our team rallied and pulled together. When you're six seconds away from winning it, it makes it even tougher," Whisenhunt said.
"There's not a lot you can do when he extends the play like that," Whisenhunt added of Young.
Yeah, a great drive; fans leaving that game were ecstatic.

I'll bet Bud Adams decides to keep VY around next year. Even Jeff Fisher must be convinced after this flourish.

(I'll post more pics later. I've got to sleep. )

Krauthammer schools the Democrats on Health Care Reform

Tear it up and throw it out, Krauthammer opines on the Democrat's 4000-page-plus boondoggles. It's too big and brazen, and completely misses mention of three of the most important 'reforms' that are absolutely necessary to fix health care: Tort Reform, allowing Interstate Purchase of Health Insurance, and taxing employer-provided health care to provide a pool for indigent uninsured health care. Krauthammer, on my favored reform, the 'Sit Down and Shut Up, John Edwards!' version, Tort Reform...
First, tort reform. This is money -- the low-end estimate is about half a trillion per decade -- wasted in two ways. Part is simply hemorrhaged into the legal system to benefit a few jackpot lawsuit winners and an army of extravagantly rich malpractice lawyers such as John Edwards.

The rest is wasted within the medical system in the millions of unnecessary tests, procedures and referrals undertaken solely to fend off lawsuits -- resources wasted on patients who don't need them and which could be redirected to the uninsured who really do.

In the 4,000-plus pages of the two bills, there is no tort reform. Indeed, the House bill actually penalizes states that dare "limit attorneys' fees or impose caps on damages." Why? Because, as Howard Dean has openly admitted, Democrats don't want "to take on the trial lawyers." What he didn't say -- he didn't need to -- is that they give millions to the Democrats for precisely this kind of protection.
Interesting that the White House, using newly-minted Communication Director Dan Pfeiffer, is taking a swing at Krauthammer. From Newsbusters dot org...
According to the incoming White House communications director, the Senate's proposal does all that and more. However, it doesn't go to the extent of "tort reform, interstate purchasing and taxing employee benefits" as Krauthammer suggested. Pfeiffer explains the Senate version offers a "voluntary state incentive grants program" for tort reform, imposes a fee on "high-cost health care plans" as the taxing component and an allowance for "interstate health care choice compacts" for the interstate purchasing provision. However, none of the components are guaranteed to make it through the Senate's amendment process and/or the House-Senate conference should the bill make it through the Senate.

But Pfeiffer doesn't attack one of the main complaints in Krauthammer's article - the creation of massive bureaucracies in the name of this so-called health care reform.
There's nothing in the White House - Democrat-controlled bill that even comes close to what Mr. Krauthammer suggests as reform. The Tort Reform Pfeiffer mentions is not a sweeping overhaul but a simple Kleenex tissue dabbed on an aneurysm...an ineffective and largely symbolic gesture. Unless and until we hear the lawyers screaming, we won't have real tort reform. I want the John Edwards sorts crying in pain, damnit~!

And I've asked before...how can we allow a government-controlled Public Option (based in Washington, and operating nationwide of course) to exist, with that Public Option allowed to compete against private insurers who by current mandates cannot compete nationwide? It seems a Public Option should require the second leg of Krauthammer's and the Republican's health care reforms, allowing interstate insurance competitiveness for all insurance providers, simply to allow them a chance to continue to exist.

But there's the Democrat's hidden trick...the Public Option will be cheaper than private insurers because private insurers will still be subject to the various state's taxes and regulations; the Public Option will sail right over those state regulations, being a federal program and all. An end-around, an unfair methodology that will kill private insurers and allow the inherent socialism of the Public Option to prevail. Goodbye, private insurers; hello, long lines and 'death panels'. Welcome home, Euroweenie socialisms.

The Democrat Health reform bill is a terrible bill. With the public option still in place, it's a grab handle for Euro-style socialism, a beachhead established for the purpose of ending private health insurance in America.

"The Goddess of Implicit Whiteness": Richard Hoste on Sarah Palin (he wishes!)

Another Going Rouge book review starts out with this interesting paragraph...
White Goddess

It has been suggested that Sarah Palin is a sort of Rorschach test for Americans. The attractive, religious and fertile White woman drove the ugly, secular and barren White self-hating and Jewish elite absolutely mad well before there were any questions about her qualifications. The loyalty she inspires in the White masses is similarly based on gut feelings rather than rational analysis.
You know, I could not read that without fixing it...

The attractive, secular and thundering Black man drove the left-wing Marxist-type intellectual White auto-racists (clustered in their fascist cesspools of envy appeasement) and the Jewish liberal elites absolutely joyous well before there were answers to the many questions about his qualifications. The loyalty he inspires in the Black masses is similarly based on gut feelings rather than rational analysis.

FTFY, Richard Hoste.

“Whereas phthonos, envy, is censured because it seeks to harm another, zelos, emulation, is praised because it encourages a person to attain excellence on his own merits.” (Aristotle, “Rhetoric,” 2.11.1)

'CAP AND TRADE IS DEAD' : Quote of the Day: Sen. Inhofe, speaking of the EPA (and, this gem...

"The way the far left used to stop us is to file lawsuits and stall and stall. We'll do the same thing."

-Senator Jim Inhofe, (R) OK, speaking of the EPA's pending but now, thankfully, out on a limb "endangerment finding" that would allow it to regulate carbons (and our economy) on the grounds that carbons (and our American way of life) are an endangerment to public health (and to liberal-lefty guilt trips). This EPA finding would force great damage to our economy via Executive fiat;  these leftists want to have that tool in order to feel good by way of bashing America and our capitalism-driven economic engine. Nothing new there. Now, though, there's been a game changer: the smoking gun CRU e-mails have nailed these 'science'-wielding leftists with undeniable truth.

(Oh, that second quote: Sen Inhofe's back-in-your-face Alinsky-style methodology is soothing to me. How else can we fight these far leftists who've "V'd" this country unless we give 'em back as they've done to us?)

From Kimberley A. Strassel at WSJ...
'Cap and Trade Is Dead'

The recently disclosed emails and documents from University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit compromise the integrity of the United Nations' global warming reports.

So declares Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, taking a few minutes away from a Thanksgiving retreat with his family. "Ninety-five percent of the nails were in the coffin prior to this week. Now they are all in."

If any politician might be qualified to offer last rites, it would be Mr. Inhofe. The top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee has spent the past decade in the thick of Washington's climate fight. He's seen the back of three cap-and-trade bills, rode herd on an overweening Environmental Protection Agency, and steadfastly insisted that global researchers were "cooking" the science behind man-made global warming.

This week he's looking prescient. The more than 3,000 emails and documents from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (CRU) that have found their way to the Internet have blown the lid off the "science" of manmade global warming. CRU is a nerve center for many of those researchers who have authored the United Nations' global warming reports and fueled the political movement to regulate carbon.

Their correspondence show a claque of scientists massaging data to make it fit their theories, squelching scientists who disagreed, punishing academic journals that didn't toe the apocalyptic line, and hiding their work from public view. "It's no use pretending that this isn't a major blow," glumly wrote George Monbiot, a U.K. writer who has been among the fiercest warming alarmists. The documents "could scarcely be more damaging." And that's from a believer. [emboldenings mine -.ed]
So, Mr. Obama, when you jet to Copenhagen next month to pick up your Nobel Peace Prize (bwahahahahaha~!, still), be sure to have collected Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize so's you can properly return it. Then, when you attend the International Copenhagen 'Climate' Summit, you can begin to realize that your party's pet economy-destroying project is falling to pieces. You certainly won't find India or China on board; New Zealand is also finding Climate Science Corruption, so don't expect much support from them. Oh, and Australia. You'll have to rely on your booming teleprompter-induced voice box to carry the day. (Have M'chelle pack plenty of those nice drapes-dresses. They do seem to thrill the arugula set.)

From now on, every bit of global warming data and science will be subjected to intense scrutiny. Scientists who've fudged data or manipulated test instruments to get skewed results (that temperature sensor in front of an air conditioner exhaust comes to mind) will now be challenged. Hopefully, any who knowingly hid, misled or otherwise skewed for political reasons will be forced out of Science. There's no room for politics in science. Leftists speak of "Separation of Church and State"; let's see them separate their 'religion' from State.

The Politics of Science is now in the harshlight. It's time to force that permanent separation.

Charles Johnson gathers his flock...

...of brainless Little Green Footballs to his daily absolution. Listen up, mini lizards, or you'll be booted out into the ...real world.
UPDATE

This is as good a place as any to place this hilarity.

A "Happy Thanksgiving!" to all. Visit Alice's Restaurant if you like. No bong hits here, please.

I listen to this every year. Goes way back, doesn't it?

All the way back to the days of mandatory bong hits. Not that I participated, of course; not that I can recall, anyways!

OK, on Thanksgiving. Give thanks to someone besides yourself, for the privilege of being alive and being in the U.S.A.; even in these troubled times, we're well above other nations because of the simple fact that we have the ONLY U.S. Constitution as our guiding document. Canadians? Not so lucky. Brits? Far from being free.

In celebration of my American freedom, I'm going to the range (actually, to some acreage with ample backstops) and send hot copper-jacketed lead into pesky tin cans.

Let's see 'em do that in lesser countries. Or even lesser (bluer) states in this country.

Yes, there's plenty left to be thankful for, and the 2nd Amendment is near top of the list AFAIC. Because that fundamental and basic right keeps the rest of 'em valid. If it goes away, everything else will follow. That's why we fights Leftists, folks; they've had 2nd Amendment-bashing and a desire to curtail our rights to keep and bear arms on their agendas for decades. Now, they've moved to other lefty issues, but believe me, they will be back for more gun controlling. So, we have to fight them on every front, every issue, to keep 'em busy and preoccupied and away from our guns.

Oh, and be thankful for flowing water, too...

"Warmaquiddick", "Gorebacle Fallout": Dan Collins is all over the Global Warming meltdown.

Yet More Warmaquiddick Gorebacle Fallout

I just haven't had the time to cover this delicious scandal amongst the 'scientists' who craved political attention more than honest, forthright data collection and honest experimentation. But this morning, seeing that Dan posted William Blake's Geryon, I just couldn't resist 'the fix'.

Any 'scientist' who manipulates data to achieve dubious results at the behest of a failed politician deserves to be eaten alive by the Devil himself.

(Oh, wait, that's the next pshop! )

Pre-Black Friday Scary Economy Post: What's up with the Dollar? Answer: Balloons.

Ready to spend a few bucks Friday morning? Might as well. The way things are trending, your dollar will be worth more Friday than it will be next month.

Nice chart.

Thanks in part to mounting US deficits and a weak US economy, the US dollar continues to trend lower. After all, a virtual collapse of the banking sector does have its consequences. For some perspective, today's chart illustrates the current trend in the US dollar (blue line) as well as that other world currency, gold (gray line). As today's chart illustrates, the performance of the US dollar has varied inversely to that of gold since the latter stages of the credit bubble. It is worth noting that the US dollar is currently testing resistance of its downtrend (red line) while gold makes record highs.

Joe Biden delivers this extraordinary line, spoken to a group of sycophants at a fundraiser in Iowa, that naysayers "should be worried about us, for we are their worst nightmare."

That's right Joe, for Americans, the Obama Administration is the worst economic nightmare this little country has ever known. From 'job-creating' stimulus plans to ObamaCare and Cap & Trade, we are being torn asunder. As David Limbaugh points out...
Even the liberal New York Times reports that, at the current level of federal spending, the annual interest on the national debt will exceed $700 billion by 2019 — compared with $202 billion this year. Some forecasters predict it will be much higher. This additional half-trillion dollars a year in interest is more than our combined expenditures on education, energy, homeland security, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Oh, and the Times isn't even factoring in the cap-and-trade nightmare you and Barack have in store for us, Joe — you know, that urgent legislation to catapult the nation back into Third World status based on hysteria generated by fraudulent science and corrupt zealots and politicians.

Nor is the Times including in its calculations the additional debt that would result from Obamacare.

Joe, when The New York Times is sounding the alarm over the exploding national debt, you and Barack Obama insist not only on not reversing your disastrous course but also on making it worse. How can reasonable people assume anything other than that you are trying to run this nation into the ground financially?
Crisis analysis: when (not if, when) the economy gives up the Capitalism ghost, Obama will be there to 'save' us. To deliver us to socialism, to government price and wage freezes, to control of even more corporations 'in the national interest'.

Oh, speaking of troubled banks, our nation's banks are still not lending monies. And the FDIC, federally backing up 'our' deposits, is now operating in the red. Too many bank failures, not enough money to back 'em up. Oh, and 522 banks are nearing collapse; we don't know which ones (to avoid bank runs, the FDIC doesn't name names). Is your bank one of those nearing failure?

When the banks won't lend money to businesses, the businesses can't operate, and have to lay off workers or close their doors. That feeds unemployment figures. Oh, and...

'Real' unemployment is now 17.5%, not the 'rosy' 10.2% spouted by Obama's economic team.
"People focus too much on that 10 percent number and not on the larger number," says Kevin Mahn, chief investment officer at Hennion & Walsh in Parsippany, N.J. "There's a humongous inventory of people out there looking for work and have been looking for work for a long time. Where are those jobs going to come from?"
Unemployment among young blacks is 34.5%.

But...but...the stimulus...WHERE ARE THE JOBS, MR. SOCIALIST JOKER PRESIDENT??

Oh.

Sarah Palin points to Obama's "lack of understanding" of the role of the U.S. Military.

We all know that Progressives, Obama included, loathe the military. Bill Clinton admitted it; in the most honest, heartfelt statement he's ever written. Little did he know when he wrote that, that he was defining the sentiments of a large portion of his sorts of people: the American Left; today's Progressives, grown from and children of the '60's generation of smelly hippies and jeering radicals.

Sarah Palin delicately probes the wound...(emboldenings mine)
There’s been a lack of acknowledgment by our president in understanding what it is that the American military provides in terms of, obviously, the safety, the security of our country,” Palin said during an interview with Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren. “I want him to acknowledge the sacrifices that these individual men and women — our sons, our daughters, our moms, our dads, our brothers and sisters — are providing this country to keep us safe.
Yes, that would be nice to see. Barack Hussein Obama needs to eschew the teleprompter, stopper those flapping gums, his incessant programmed 'voice that tingles the Left', and do something concrete for the troops. Something that doesn't involve a photo-op. Leave the cameras at home; fly to Afghanistan for a Thanksgiving day meal with his fighters. Show some respect, Mr. President, for those who would give their lives to keep America safe. Make it so.

Sarah Palin continues...
They’re making sacrifices,” said Palin, who visited the Army base at Fort Bragg on Monday as part of her ongoing book tour. “They’re putting so much on hold right now so that the homeland can be safe and they can fight for democratic ideals around our world. I want to see more acknowledgment and more respect given to them.
        ...
I want to see them equipped. I want to see them given everything that they need, including strategies — a surge strategy in Afghanistan, for one — so that they know that they’re there for victory, they’re not there just biding their time as lives are being lost.

I want our president and this administration to listen to the advisers who they hired,” she said. “McChrystal, for one, back in March, telling the president, 'Here's what we're going to need there' and then ramping up that advice lately, saying, 'Mr. President, here's what we need in Afghanistan to win, to make sure that those terror cells don't grow, so that those terrorists don't come back over to the homeland in America, on our soil, and kill innocent Americans.'

I want him to listen to his advisers,” Palin added. “That's what he asked for.
Get your nose out of your own self-worship, Mr. President, and pay some attention to your betters.

Is Reliant Stadium Vince Young's House? Seems like it .

Tennessee spoils Houston's playoff run, winning in Houston on Monday Night Football 20-17, with a 53-yd. field goal by Rob Bironas. The now 4-6 Titans were led by Vince Young; there's no doubt who's now running that team. Good for him.

(The Titans made NFL history by becoming the first team ever to win 4 straight games after losing 6 straight games. Yeah, not a stat you want to have, but at this point, it's better than nothing I think.)

This photo illustrates the theme meme for most of the fans at Reliant: "This Ain't Vince's House..." Hate it for them, sorry and all of that, but you're wrong, bub.

Nearly two years ago, December 12 2006, Vince Young stabbed Houston, running in a TD for a 26-20 win in overtime. Who could forget this image?

He's done it again.

Yep, Reliant Stadium, that's his house, home away from home.

See ya next year, Texans!

I wonder....does Kurt Greenbaum not like fish either??

There's an internet-wide smackdown underway; it seems that a pusillanimous St.Louis Post-Dispatch journalist who doesn't like 'pussy' got someone fired for posting that word. No, he's not gay; he just doesn't care for any references to it; he's obviously frightened of 'pussy'. So much so that he got someone fired from their job for posting 'pussy' on one of his lame St. Louis Post-Dispatch 'Social Internet' pretend-journalism posts.  Get this: the question he posted , eliciting replies from readers:
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever eaten? And did you like it?
By Kurt Greenbaum

Some internet wag posted 'pussy'. Greenbaum deleted that. The guy posted it again. Greenbaum deleted it again, then tracked the guy down via IP address and got him fired. Then Kurt Greenbaum bragged about getting the guy fired for posting 'pussy'.

So, for being such a Charles Johnson sort of power tripper, Kurt Greenbaum's getting ripped to shreds.

I became aware of this kerfuffle from reading an attention-grabbing headline at Cold Fury...
“Why do liberals hate pussy?”

Because pussies are SCARY — unless they’re attached to nice, safe GLBT-TSTV-TPONMKBR549{?# lesbians who will never harm them? Because, as the “teabagees,” their mouths are already full? Because they are pussies, filled with the sort of self-loathing that must inevitably accompany the contradictory embrace of an ideology that exists only to enslave, while they yammer nonsensically about freedom?
Whatever it is, that title was just too good not to swipe, although there’s a serious aspect to the story:
Follow back to Cold Fury to read Mike's take on Kurt Greenbaum's hatred of teh frumious bander snatches.

Here's Kurt Greenbaum's personal blog post trying to weasel out of his obvious power-trip wrongdoings. But poor Kurt, he's not having much luck. All his personal blog post's comments are closed. As is his Twitter account, @KGreenbaum. And from Facebook he's flown. Some of his Flickr photos are missing. Some think his job is in jeopardy; that he should resign.

Well, Kurt, being a 'social internet professional', of all people you should have know better. I suppose you should resign. For not knowing that this sort of reaction was coming.

Maybe you could take up fishing.

Going too far. ? Depends on who you ask.

No need for this sort of birther rhetoric. Even if Obama were born outside the US (and I don't think he was) it's far too late to do anything about it. Give it up already, birthers!

But, as commenters pointed out at Pat Dollard's, it's OK to hang an effigy of Sarah Palin, and don't forget the 8 years of Boooooooooshitler! hate spewed from the Left.

We're walking a balance beam here. We can't stand the guy, he's a far-left ideologue who's bad for the country, but give him enough rope and he'll....wait. Don't go there.

And that silly Psalm prayer some are taunting the Left with. You're getting them too worked up; enough already!

I want Obama to continue doing what he's doing, and sooner or later he'll do something really Democrat Dumb (hopefully not country-destroying) and we can either impeach him or beat him in 2012.

That's the plan AFAIC.

Rickety Structures

So, Obamacare barely gets a pass, with a threat from LincolnAGW falls; dumb f*ck Charles Johnson is embarrassed. "WHO IS JOHN GALT?", and the kids don't even know WTF they are talking about.

It's a slow news day. Oh yeah, Obowman screwed up the Japanese visit even more than we expected..."Either President Obama wants to anger America's traditional allies, as he is doing with the British, or he is simply a self-involved fool who can't imagine others aren't thrilled with everything he does."

But I found a couple images fascinating. So I tossed them together.

The first...
In this Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 photo, the Milky Way spreads across the night sky over Mormon Row, an historic settlement, in Grand Teton National Park near Jackson, Wyo. The light in the distance is the city of Driggs, Idaho, on the west side of the Teton Mountain Range. (AP Photo/Jackson Hole News&Guide, Bradly J. Boner)

Rickety structures, both. We should be much farther out there by now.

Look! BUNNIES!!!11!!!1!!!

Hmmmph.

"Look! BUNNIES! My ASS!" might be her reply.

I don't think "Look! BUNNIES~!" is gonna work with this gal. You better seriously make a point and not offer spurious distractions. Or they'll be hell to pay.

This whipped up for Cowboy Blob's Weekend Photo - Caption Contest.

(If anyone knows the origin of the "Look! BUNNIES!" phraseology, please leave that in comments. I've seen it used to mockingly point out obvious distractions to a serious point; e.g., Barack Obama's team of handlers offering up a 'War' with FOX NEWS just to take the public's attention away from his inability to manage the economy. Or maybe when Obama hisself, who should have known better, being Harvard-edjumacated and all of that, performed that ridiculous bow to the Japanese Emperor, perhaps just to divert attention away from his inability to make a decision in Afghanistan. "Look! I'm BENT OVER!!!1!!")

Sheesh. We're getting tired of bunnies. Really.

Friday Photo - Veteran's Day Field-Wide Flag Displayed at the Titans-Bills Game

This is a stitched photo of the U.S. Flag as seen from my vantage point at LP Field last Sunday, before the Titans whupped the stuffings out of the hapless Buffalo Bills (the game in which Bud Adams launched his swarm of birds; after the game, Bill's coach, Dick Jauron was fired. The Bill's owners had to do something I suppose!). The flag is handled by members of the 101st Airborne, based at Ft. Campbell.

This is a HUGE file. Click on it at your own risk. 10MB, 7689px x 2044px, 641 dpi. That's 12" by 5" or so...

They do this once a year, the first home game after Veteran's Day.

The Shape of Things to Come: Inflation Riots in the STREETS

Yesterday, at UCLA. Because of a 32% increase in the tuition rate.

Just wait until the dollar tanks, and food prices start to climb.

Remember, these are mostly liberal kids, mostly well-to-do, somewhat educated but still not very street-smart. Definitely Blue-Staters.

Imagine what's going to happen when the dollar tanks (that's not so far off) and inflation starts to skyrocket.

Other signs of looming financial apocalypse?

From comments at my first link (zerohedge dot com)...
The FR didn't/still doesn't have the authority to buy this crap. I agree with you and am outraged that this private banking cartel is killing the middle class. However, I would also ask you to consider that the FR is at the top of the central bank pyramid and, if and when those foreign swaps are unwound, we could see a return of the Almighty Dollar and every other asset class, gold included, crash.

Yeah, the core of the balance sheet of the largest central bank of the world is based on an asset that doesn't have a true market value-- or a true market.

And there's a possiblity of even adding a $ trillion or more in additional MBS next year.

If so, the dollar is toast.

doesn't surprise me at all - the Fed's money printing has had the exact opposite effect as they thought - all they did was drive up commodities prices and throw a cog into any economic recovery, anything people "save" on lower mortgage rates they are losing due to the unemployment spurred on by higher energy prices.

we would be better off with $30 oil and 6% mortgage, vs $80 oil and 5% mortgages.

stupid.

And don't forget since we don't really make anything here (let's not get too excited about exports getting us out of this) we'd also be paying less for everything we need at Walmart and Costco the new fave places to shop. I really don't think I will every understand how any self-respecting banker can think devaluing our currency is a feel good moment...it makes me sick. This whole thing is turning me into a raging capitalist and frankly I wouldn't have considered myself that 18 months ago -- fiscal responsibility yes, but now I seriously think they need to have the damn ink taken away as they are clearly getting high on the fumes over at the fed and treasury.
MBs, by the way, are "Mortgage Backed Securities". Think...Fannie Mae.

It's probably too late for most people to start buying gold (we're almost out of it) but really, if you can, buy it. Things seems to be unraveling.

Oh, but HEALTH CARE! FREE! ALL AMERICANS! will be up for a vote in the Senate, probably late Saturday night.

Just what we need...more entitlements and giveaways that we can't afford.

"Obama Has Achieved Nothing on the World Stage".

Well, not exactly true. He did give lessons in how not to approach and bend over for various world leaders. Obsequiousness in (a) black dress.

Dr. Nile Gardinier, Director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation:
No American president has spent more time abroad in his first year in office than Barack Obama. His trip to Asia this week is his 8th foreign tour, taking the total number of countries visited to 20.

But what does the president have to show for all his gallivanting across the world stage and countless apologies for America’s past? Almost nothing, except for adoring crowds in exotic locales, and bemused monarchs surprised by groveling bows from the most powerful leader on the face of the earth.

It is a monumental task trying to come up with any concrete foreign policy successes from the Obama administration. On the Iranian nuclear crisis, arguably the biggest threat to international security of the Obama presidency, the administration’s high-risk strategy of engagement with the mullahs of Tehran has only emboldened America’s enemies and renewed their determination to press ahead with their nuclear weapons program.

On Afghanistan, the White House’s spectacular dithering on whether to send more troops is seriously damaging America’s standing as a world power, and undercutting the fight against the Taliban. As for the global War on Terror, it no longer even exists in the eyes of the White House. It has been replaced by the “Overseas Contingency Operation,” the sort of name typically given to a glorified U.N. peacekeeping operation.

As for America’s traditional alliances, especially the transatlantic alliance, they have taken a serious beating under the Obama administration. It is hard to think of a president who has shown less interest in the security of Europe than Barack Obama, as was shown by his government’s recent callous disregard for key allies in eastern and central Europe.

The humiliating surrender to Moscow’s demands over scrapping Third Site missile defense, and the decision to throw Poland and the Czech Republic under the bus in the face of Russian intimidation, will dramatically erode faith in the United States across the Atlantic for a generation. In a further snub to Europe, the president couldn’t even be bothered to attend the ceremonies marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall --one of the greatest events in the history of the past century.
Let's have some liberal answer the question: Exactly what has Baracky done to enhance the stature and standing of the United States (remember, he swore an oath to uphold OUR Constitution, not an oath to promote a one-world underanybodybutGod World Goverment) ?

I can't see him having done much more than his ordinary teleprompter-bluster and crowd-wowing. That doesn't translate to Good Things for the citizens of the United States of America (you know, the people he actually works for).

A stylish showman with no substance, our Baracky.

Barack Obama photographed with Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China. Good news: NO BOW! Bad news: Obama still looks bad.

Couple observations...

1) No Obama bow. He's learning. Or still sore...
2) Flags were positioned correctly! Who knew?

UPDATE: One more quick link! From the Washington Times, on BowGate ...
PRUDEN: Obama bows, the nation cringes

A little traveling, like a little learning, can be a dangerous thing. Barack Obama on the loose in a foreign land is enough to frighten protocol officers and embarrass the rest of us.

He went off to Asia to tell the Chinese a thing or two about world trade, to prepare the world for a treaty to make the sun change its spots, and of course to pay his respects to assorted heads of state, with particular attention to any royal head (perhaps even including Miss Universe) who crosses his path.

So far it's a memorable trip. He established a new precedent for how American presidents should pay obeisance to kings, emperors, monarchs, sovereigns and assorted other authentic man-made masters of the universe. He stopped just this side of the full grovel to the emperor of Japan, risking a painful genuflection if his forehead had hit the floor with a nasty bump, which it almost did. No president before him so abused custom, traditions, protocol (and the country he represents).

...

But Mr. Obama, unlike his predecessors, likely knows no better, and many of those around him, true children of the grungy '60s, are contemptuous of custom. Cutting America down to size is what attracts them to "hope" for "change." It's no fault of the president that he has no natural instinct or blood impulse for what the America of "the 57 states" is about. He was sired by a Kenyan father, born to a mother attracted to men of the Third World and reared by grandparents in Hawaii, a paradise far from the American mainstream.

He no doubt wants to "do the right thing" by his lights, but the lights that illumine the Obama path are not necessarily the lights that illuminate the way for most of the rest of us. This is good news only for Jimmy Carter, who may yet have to give up his distinction as our most ineffective and embarrassing president.
There you go. Wesley Pruden knows Obama.

And his family.

Auntie is an Illegal Alien? Brother's Starving in Africa? Dad was a Communist?
And we thought the Kennedys conducted a circus~!

The Un-American Elitist Moron In The White House

Before I head out, it's gotten so bad that even blind NY Governor Patterson has to admit he can see it, even as other Democrats continue to carry water for the waterboy in the WH destined to run their party into the ground.

Let's just hope he isn't successful in dragging America too far down with him before he's run out of town in 2012 as the absolutely worst chief executive in America's modern history. With his latest stupid move he's simply handing radical Islam a perfect propaganda tool and causing NYC and America to experience more sadness and potential mayhem than they've already endured due to those miscreants.

Obama is a disgraceful incompetent never tested for the job he holds, not once in his entire life. And he lacks the wisdom, experience and genuine patriotism to even understand it. In two years, the half of this country that has come to outright despise him will join with the smaller segment of the electorate that is simply sick of him and his bad, dumb, holier than thou ideas and throw him out of the WH further than perhaps any former American potus has ever been tossed on his overly large ears.

If we are lucky, and I doubt we will be, he'd simply move overseas and we'd never have to think of him, again. But who knows? With his background and lack of experience, there might be at least one third world hell hole of poverty that would welcome him as their leader with open arms. He doesn't appear to genuinely qualified to do anything else.

Obama is a stain on the American presidency and the color of it doesn't make a damned bit of difference to most Americans. He's simply an elitist fool who should never have gotten the job in the first place. And this is the best the Democrats have to offer?
That'll earn Dan a link in my sidebar.

Sarah Palin: "Profile away!" (Progressives probably won't agree with Sarah Palin. Nidal Hasan likely won't, either.)

"Profile away!" To stop future jihadist-terrorist killings, of course. Pamela Geller...
"Palin sounds very good here. Very good indeed. I am enormously encouraged. She gets better and better. Here's an issue no poltician will touch so fearful are they of being labled bigot, they will throw our troops on an IED and our nation under a bus. Palin has cujones and they are growing :) We love that."
You go, Sarah!

Palin on Nidal Hasan: "Profile Away"

I spoke to Governor Palin by phone this afternoon. Lots of interesting material, but to me the most interesting takeaways were the following:

1) I asked about Palin's upcoming visit to Ft. Hood. "We had planned on that before the tragedy struck," she said. She commented on the trail of evidence linking the alleged Ft. Hood shooter, Maj. Nidal Hasan, to militant Islam. "There were such clear, obvious, massive warning signs that were missed," she said. "This terrorist, even having business cards" that identified him as an "SoA" or soldier of Allah. Palin blamed a culture of political correctness and other decisions that "prevented -- I'm going to say it -- profiling" of someone with Hasan's extremist ideology. "I say, profile away," Palin said. Such political correctness, she continued, "could be our downfall." If the upcoming investigations into the attack reveal bad decision-making on the part of senior officials, Palin continued, those officials ought to be fired.
It only makes sense to smartly use our resources to best achieve desired results: the prevention of any further jihadist - terrorist events. So, we needs keep our eyes on all potential jihadists. Especially those who've given so many prior warnings. Yes, we failed those soldiers at Ft. Hood; failed because we succumbed to Political Correctness.

Signs that this terrorist was ready to act were ignored because of the Left's, the progressive's, Political Correctness. That ignoring cost lives. I suppose that Proggs think we have an ample population, and that we can spare a few people here and there, just to keep their Political Correctness bona fides intact.

Maybe they consider the people lost because of extreme political correctness to be simply very late, late-late, late term abortions?

Bowgate: Barack Obama is now defined on the World's Stage: WATERBOY

I've had this on backburner since Saturday (an eternity ago in Intratube time) but better late than never.

Michelle Malkin had twittered something about Bush and Obama comparisons, the famous leftist epitaph "COWBOY" given to Bush vs. the obvious "WATERBOY" for Obama. Even if the MSM doesn't run with "WATERBOY", the rest of the world will know it's a fit.

Mysterious Saruman-looking figure appears at LP Field, unleashing a FLOCK of BIRDS~! Oh. That's just Bud Adams. Nevermind him; he's senile.

(click this to embiggen!)

How about the old man? Getting his annoyance out. Via PFT's Michael David Smith...

NFL fines Bud Adams $250,000

The NFL has fined Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams $250,000 for flipping a double bird during Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

The fine is a swift and decisive action by the league that misconduct won't be tolerated, whether it's players on the field or owners in luxury boxes.

Adams apologized, and he indicated that he knew a fine was coming.

"I need to apologize for my actions yesterday near the end of the game," Adams said.  "I got caught up in the excitement of a great day, but I do realize that those types of things shouldn't happen.  I need to specifically apologize to the Bills, their fans, our fans and the NFL.  I obviously have a great deal of respect for Ralph Wilson and the history we have shared.  I also understand there will probably be league discipline for my actions and I will accept those."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told Adams of the fine today. Goodell was at the game and sat with Adams for part of it but was reportedly sitting in the stands among the fans at the time that Adams flipped the birds.

Look at that swarm! Man, this guy needs some Prozac. That 59-0 asswhipping must be lingering on his mind something fierce.

Oh, some more game photos I didn't get to earlier (Part 1, Buffalo Bills - Tennessee Titans).

This is the final TD of the game, an interception return by Roderick Hood. The hold wasn't called...

My ever-famous "Fan of the Game" photos. I couldn't choose, so here's both of 'em.

Titans - Bills Game Photos, Pt. 1

A pretty good effort. Tennessee takes advantage of a perfect day to whip the Buffalo Bills 41-17; a game that was tied 17-17 until the 4th quarter. When the Bills seemed to lay down (we've never seen a team do that before, have we??).

Some quick high lights...Chris Johnson, 132 yards and 2 TD's; Vince Young ran in a TD and kept his nose clean for the most part (only 1 INT, and no theatrics; theatrics from Bill's Terrell Owens on the sideline during the 4th Quarter (the crybaby word red sneakers...more on that later); NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was here for this game (don't know why, but everyone was on their best behavior it seems).

The Titans scored 24 unanswered points in the 4th Quarter (two from interception returns). Trent Edwards is still a bit shaky, but did manage to do well for almost four quarters. Better luck next time.

I've only time to put up a few pics here, in Part 1. Part 2 later.
Nashville's new Signature Towers looks...uncompleted. Why do we always fail to finish the tops of these things? The 'hanging' State Building; the 'Tobacco Barn' atop what was the Third National Bank Bldg. Sorry, Sig, but the Bat Bldg. still owns the Nashville Skyline.
Even the Refs sported retro unis.

The pre-game sported a huge, stadium-wide U.S. Flag (every year this is displayed, for the game after Veterans Day). Great job in handling this massive flag. (I'll stitch a big one together from my photos later on.)

The overflight.

Titans-Bills Retro uniforms. This is the first time they wore 'em and won (last time Jeff Fisher's team sported these things, they lost 59-0, do you remember that?).

Here's Nate Washington's TD at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Titan's 2nd TD of the day; Chris Johnson had already run one in earlier. A field goal by Rob Bironas in the 2nd Quarter gave us 17 points; no more until the 28-point blowout in the 4th. (I hate it when fat heads get in my way.)

Halftime gave us a special Veteran's Day salute to every armed force, and the 101st Airborne Band.

I'm done for now. More later.

UPDATE: Part 2 is up. Featuring a somewhat strange old man, and a flock of birds.

'Miss' Sharon Cobb decries that a nassty 'Tennessee Trooper Sends White Pride Email To 787 State Employees'. And blames Conservatives? Really?

Sharoncobb.com: Tennessee Trooper Sends White Pride Email To 787 State Employees

This one, this Miss Sharon Cobb, is a piece of work in progressivism. A 'seasoned journalist' (MSNBC counts for that?) who spends time pushing the proggly agenda every chance she gets. Sharon, Missy, your using the term 'journalist' is a slap in the face to any remaining real journalists who try to deliver the news without slant. You, Missy, are leftist first, journalist second (or third); please don't pretend otherwise.

I left a comment on Missy's post, that one decrying Tennessee law enforcement and anyone who isn't 'Progressive' enough for her delicate sensibilities. (Oh, she's 'threatening' to move away from Tennessee~!)
Oh. Don't go. )

There's a huge difference between the two sides (you 'progressive' sorts, and my real American Conservative types) that you seem insulated from. NTTAWWT for the most part, but occasionally your ignorance shines. In this post criticizing critics of your dirty socialist prezzidint, for example.

We, Real Americans, criticize BHO for his shallow vapidity (photo op, anyone? bow, baby, bow!), for his embrace of socialism (sorry, 'progressivism') and for his seeming unconcern for what's happening in Afghanistan (troop morale is down, likely because BHO is indecisive about troop levels and, serially he ignores them: when was the last time BHO went to Afghanistan on a morale-building visit? Uhhhh, second thought, maybe he should stay home; his presence might have effects opposite what he desires). President Bush spent much time concerned with the troops and their morale; BHO, not so much. Let's see what happens Thanksgiving. Will BHO go?

It's strange to hear anything from your (progressive) side attesting to support for the troops. It's as if you've forced yourselves to pay attention, dragging yourselves away from the plights of the inner city kitties or hi-lighting the latest outrage from some e-mailing idiot (that's useful for it's broad-brush effect, huh?).

Carry on, then. Oh, I hear San Francisco is majorly 'progressive'. Enjoy~!
And don't let the door hit you on your ample ass on the way out.

The Scariest Jobs Chart Ever, FIXED

From The Business Insider...
It's now official: The country has lost more jobs as a percentage of peak employment than any time since the Great Depression.

This includes the recessions of the early 1980s, even when they are combined.

Those looking for a v-shaped recovery keep insisting that jobs will come roaring right back, the way they did in the 1948 recession (see the blue line in the chart from Calculated Risk below).

Anything's possible, but this seems unlikely.  In 1948, U.S. consumers were not still saddled with the massive debts that are stifling consumption today.  And consumers still represent 70%+ of spending.

The other interesting point with respect to the 1948 "V" is that we have now gone as many months from the peak as it took employment to recover in full in the 1948 recession.  And we're still losing jobs.

Most importantly, regardless of what the jobs recovery eventually looks like, it hasn't started yet.  The economy is still losing 250,000+ jobs a month.  The average workweek, which should be the first indicator to turn up, also fell in August to match its record low.  This would not seem to be consistent with a sustained, v-shaped recovery.
CHANGE, baby.

Take advantage of this crisis, bitch.

Tingle-boy Chris Matthews feels a shiver.

"Look out, Mitt Romney, look out, Huckabee BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, she's coming."

FTFH.

Barack Obama Bows AGAIN! (next come the apologies...) UPDATE: M'chelle dressed up for Veterans Day

Here we go again.

Seems BHO's protocol experts aren't earning their keeps.

Why is this man bowing?

I guess they came in handy.

You're right, happyfeet. Dueling doofuses. Brings out the post. )

UPDATE II
This comment by Ric Locke should asplain to all (even the moronically leftarded) exactly why bowing and scraping to royalty is eschewed...
Bowing is an act of deference, specifically one of deference to social betters. In Western society, this means royalty or nobility.
We don’t have any of that shit in the United States. Oh, we have social classes, all right, but even after the continued efforts of Progs and Leftoids over the last half-century there is still class mobility, and (more importantly) social class isn’t embedded in our laws or Constitution.
Nobody bows to the President, which is correct; he isn’t a social class superior to anybody. The President shouldn’t bow to Kings, Emperors, etc. because he isn’t a social class inferior, either. The correct box to check on the information form isn’t inferior or superior; it’s [X] Not Applicable.
When Obama bows to a King or Emperor, he’s joining their system of nobility as an inferior, and by extension placing all of the rest of us Americans in an inferior social class. F* that for a game of soldiers. I absolutely refuse to accept that I’m in any way inferior to somebody whose ancestor was a Hapsburg simply because of that ancestry, and you ought to feel the same way. We’re Americans. We don’t recognize that system, don’t accept it, and don’t abide by it — or shouldn’t.

Regards,
Ric

Meghan McCain, you silly twit

...g00gle Reader is forever.

Meghan McCain wants so badly to smashmouth Sarah Palin it hurts. But she knows what happens to little girls (!) who get too big for their brassieres. So, she deleted her tweets.

Srry, child.

Best you keep your mouf shut about your betters. Smashmouth works both ways, ya know.

TIME Magazine annoys the Leftists

...because they've used the FORBIDDEN WORD: TERRORIST!

Nidal Malik Hasan, Terrorist.

Terrorism. Terrorist. A new Bad Word(s); especially in the light of the Obama Administration's being in charge and all. No, an instance of domestic Terrorism! isn't allowed, is it? Because that would point to Obama's (GASP!) failure.

Can't allow those sorts of things on Teh O!ne's watch, now can we?

TERRORIST: QUICK! REDEFINE THE WORD!!!11!!ELEVENTY!

(I was working on this 'chop before I saw the TIME Magazine cover at Liberal Photoslant.) (That's what I call 'em in my g00gle Reader.)

Ian Pilmer, Global Warming (errr...Climate Change) Denier vs. Miss Earth 2009 Bathing Beauties

Ian Pilmer certainly has his hands full, taking to task an extraordinary lineup of the world's...scientists and politicians, all of whom are of the mindset that CO₂ is causing temperatures to rise (gals in bikinis notwithstanding).

Ian's latest "outrage" is an article in today's Telegraph, where he blasts those who are on the Global Warmalist bandwagon...
Climate change 'sceptic' Ian Plimer argues CO2 is not causing global warming
Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a natural phenomenon caused by volcanoes and is not responsible for climate change, a scientist has claimed.
Professor Ian Plimer, a geologist from Adelaide University, argues that a recent rise in temperature around the world is caused by solar cycles and other "extra terrestrial" forces.

For this obvious assault on Al Gore's life work, he is lambasted as a lout. Why do so many respected (and well-paid) ScientistS! argue for the direction that politicians bird dog? Ian explains...
Most mainstream scientists agree that the recent warming period was caused by an increase in carbon dioxide since the industrial revolution.

However Prof Plimer said the world has experienced three periods of cooling since 1850 and furthermore carbon dioxide was increasing during many of those cooler periods.

"If we had only had warming, then there would be a connect between co2 and temperature, there is not," he added.

Prof Plimer has come under attack as a "denialist poster boy" whose theories are in danger of stopping the world from tackling the grave dangers of climate change.

But he said the scientists "frightening people witless by following the party line" are motivated by politics and research funding.

"They are taking advantage of the current situation. That is understandable. In previous times people got wonderful research grants in a war against cancer and they achieved a lot of money for that. Now we have a war on climate change and we have a huge number of people out there who have their career staked on it and are beneficiaries of this process."
Follow the money.

It's certainly difficult to argue against the massive onslaught of political clout that's arrayed against any scientist or politician who's not drinking the koolaid.
