Assimilation: The New York Times loses it's dictionary

The Editorial Board at NYT is at it again...
These steps are no substitute for immigration reform, the future of which seems pretty murky after Mr. Obama started gingerly backing away this week. But the federal government must react forcefully to the Arizona statute. Is our core belief still the welcome and assimilation of newcomers? Arizona has given one answer. It’s time for Mr. Obama to give the other.
(Barack Obama has backed far away from Immigration Reform. Be sure to see the plaintive photo I posted with the #Arizona protester's poster board begging Barack Obama for a 'savior moment'.)

I laughed all the way through this tear-streaming editorial (do you, Opinion Writer, really believe your collection of lame talking points; are you getting them from Democratic Underground? or have I accidentally stumbled into The Onion?) but had to choke at the near next-to-last line where you actually used the word 'assimilation'.

Do you think that the intent of any 'immigrant' coming into this country illegally includes a desire for or even the slightest attempt at what you believe is 'assimilation'?

For your edification (google along with me here):

Assimilation: "the state of being assimilated; people of different backgrounds come to see themselves as part of a larger national family."

Clearly, assimilation is not what we are seeing, especially in Arizona, Southern California and in parts of Texas and New Mexico. I suggest you do a bit of research. Google 'La Raza', 'Aztlan', 'MECha'.

And see for yourself 'assimilation'.

  1. I would point out that saying that "all" immigrants share the Aztlan-Raza belief system is about as ludicrous as saying that all white people are grand wizards in the KKK, but.... oh, who am i kidding. Deaf ears, pearls before swine.

Brown people! They ALL think the same way! Do you think that any single one of them can break away from the Beaner Hive Collective?

  2. Most immigrants come here to become Americans. Too many of those from Mexico come here and want to be Mexicans living in America.

  3. The point of my post was assimilation, and the noticeable lack of it; and the ignorant bleating of the NYT opinion staff. There's not a lot of real cultural assimilation going on, now is there, elfie?

The only people complaining are the illegal aliens and the leftards who are looking to secure quick votes. There are Hispanic people who hope this law does what it's intended to do.

(Oh, and that pshop is a direct fix for this one.

  4. I know, it's a problem, a very real problem. A few months ago, there were all these fucking Paddies wearing green and celebrating some shit called "St. Patrick's Day." It pissed me off. They even made the beer GREEN. That's disgusting.

Fucking Irish need to go back to Irishland if they ain't gonna 'ssimilate!

  5. I've noticed that you haven't a word to say about the Gulf Oil spill, which is likely to be a disaster of unthinkable proportions.

Hmmm. I guess letting reality intrude into your mind would prevent you from mindlessly hooting and clapping the next time Palin or McCain blathers "Drill, baby, drill?"

  6. So, you understood what the Irish were saying, then, or do you inherently speak their language ? Wait...

I'll bet the Irish don't appreciate being associated with strawmen.

As for the oil spill, I just commented on that. And, yesterday, twice. But I only average 3/4 of a post a day here, and my interest lately has been on the happenings RE: Arizona, because that's my original homeland.
