Great News! Keith Olbermann might soon be out of a job!

Jed Deckert dot com, via Ace...
Word is that the folks at NBC are now looking for a way out. Very informed sources tell us that they realize all his relationships with employers end badly. It is just a matter of degree. Add to that - his embarrassingly dismal ratings no longer appear to warrant his inflated salary.
Remember when he tried to get Glenn Beck fired?

IF this pans out, I'll go ahead and get this out of the way:

S'long, Olberdouche, I wish I'd never known ye.

That great American "Mind" : Meghan McCain

My GAWD, I've been annoyed with John McCain for years for his RHINOcitis, but for this what he's unloaded on us, his daughter, he's forever unforgiven.

So real, so close to the mark, it's hardly classifiable as a parody.

This gal is a mess.

Obama signs one-year extension to George Bush's HATED Patriot Act (you know, the one that lefties went all apoplectic over?)

Did you catch that, you simpering lefty Bush haters? Obama re-upped the PATRIOT ACT! While you were SLEEPING!
1) [KARL] "roving" wiretaps, permitting surveillance on multiple phones and e-mail addresses.

2) court-approved seizures of records and property in anti-terrorism operations.

3) surveillance on "lone-wolf" foreign nationals, who may not be part of a recognized terrorist group. [AND your DRUG DEALERS~!]
There's more! Obama signs a new cybersecurity bill, giving him NEW EMERGENCY POWERS!
Rockefeller and Snowe's forthcoming bill would establish a host of heretofore absent cybersecurity prevention and response measures, an aide close to the process said. The bill will "significantly [raise] the profile of cybersecurity within the federal government," while incentivizing private companies to do the same, according to the aide.

Additionally, it will "promote public awareness" of Internet security issues, while outlining key protections of Americans' civil liberties on the Web, the aide continued.

Privacy groups are nonetheless likely to take some umbrage at Rockefeller and Snowe's latest effort, an early draft of which leaked late last year.

When early reports predicted the cybersecurity measure would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency," online privacy groups said they felt that would endow the White House with overly ambiguous and far-reaching powers to regulate the Internet.
CAN YOU DIG IT?

Enjoy~!

Whimsicality V: Barack Obama's Waking Dreams

"Nancy Pelosi, Please! Save My Health Care Plan, and My Presidency!"

RHAM : "Barack? Barack? Is praying really necessary ?"

This for Cowboy Blob's Weekend Caption and Photoshop Contest. At the Saloon.

Oh, here's a closer look at Barack's Mudders (or the Pelosi Saviors, as he might speak in his dreams!).

Coburn: ObamaCare will "divide and bankrupt America".

Just some more of the CHANGE Baracky promised~!
Sen. Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican and personal friend of President Obama’s, on Saturday took a highly public stand against the president’s health care plan and against his intentions to “ram” a bill through Congress, warning that such a move will “divide and bankrupt America.”

Coburn, chosen as the Republican lawmaker to deliver the party’s regular weekend address to the nation, cautioned Obama against supporting the use of “reconciliation,” a legislative maneuver Democrats could execute to pass a bill through the Senate with 51 votes instead of the 60 usually required to overcome a filibuster.

The senator, himself a physician, said that the day-long health care meeting Thursday between Democratic and Republican leaders, hosted by the president, had been the beginning of a true exchange of ideas that he said have been missing for much of the last year.

“If the president and the leaders in Congress are serious about finding common ground they should continue this debate, not cut it off by rushing through a partisan bill the American people have already rejected,” Coburn said.
We're already pretty much divided and bankrupt it seems. Why not throw more fuel on the fire? Why not drive the country into receivership; give the Chinese the keys and turn off the lights on the way out the door?

I knew it. Obama is therapist.

On suicide: "A prayer from the living world", by Doc Zero.

Probably the best read I've read all week.
You might have decided your fellow men are rotten to the core, and you’re weary of their company. Listen to the music of Mozart, or look upon the work of Michelangelo, and consider the argument of those who profoundly disagree. Maybe part of your problem is that you’ve been listening to the wrong music, or looking at the wrong pictures. Dark waters are easy to drown in. The judgment of the human race will not lack witnesses for the defense, and they will make their case to you, if you give them a chance.

Go read. Now. Thankyouverymuch.

Harry Reid vs. Southern Nevada Paving Employees who aren't smiling very much.

(click to embiggen)

What Reid would have them believe:
LAS VEGAS—Today, Sen. Harry Reid discussed the importance of the new Jobs Bill he introduced, highlighting how this crucial legislation will put Nevadans back to work through tax cuts to promote hiring, tax incentives to avoid layoffs, and investments in infrastructure.

The event was held at Southern Nevada Paving, a small business that paves roads and highways. This firm benefitted from the Recovery Act’s infrastructure investments and is looking forward to taking advantage of the transportation funding allocations in the Jobs Bill. Dozens of the company’s employees were in attendance to receive a much anticipated update from Sen. Reid.

Coming a day after the Recovery Act’s one year anniversary, Sen. Reid used the event to address the progress achieved by ARRA pulling the economy back from the brink while laying out the pathway forward to create good paying Nevada jobs through this new legislation.

Reid said: “A year ago, the stimulus became law, setting the recovery in motion. We stopped the bleeding. Now it’s time to nurse our economy back to health. We are starting with a specific plan to create jobs – and to create the right conditions for the private sector to hire more workers.

“In fact, the very first bill we’ll vote on next week is a jobs plan that will cut businesses’ taxes as an incentive to hire unemployed workers. It’s a jobs bill that’s as good for the employers doing the hiring as it is for the employees getting hired.”
They certainly believe him, you can tell. Even hard-core Union employees can discern when there's a politico causing a need for hip waders.

Oh, and we all want Obamacare, too. Each and every one of us.

HILARITY! Open Congress calls Scott Brown (R, KENNEDY) Paul Kirk (D, MA); records his vote as 'aye'.

Is this an omen ??

United States the "Brokest Nation in the World", according to the CIA World Factbook

This, on the eave of the Democrat's dog-and-pony show to marshal ObamaCare to further brokerize the nation.

What, exactly, is wrong with Democrats? Do they think money grows on trees??

In other news, Tony Kornheiser gets suspended for trash-talking fellow ESPN sportscaster Hannah Storm (she of the short dress...and at her age! What, does she think she's a Holden Caulfield fantasy? But Olberdouche @MSNBC still gets to trash everyone who is not a Democrat, again crying RAAAAACIST! (as do all Democrats do when they start to lose an argument). Keith Olbermann is the biggest douchebag in the world.

(I searched g00gle images for a photo of Hannah Storm; I remain unimpressed. But I did find this one of Speed TV's sportscaster Charity Hodges; now there's a proper Holden Caulfield fantasy if I ever saw one! Erin Andrews, eat your heart out!  )

Scott Brown (R, Kennedy) comes under fire for his cloture vote on the "Jobs Bill"

And it gets ugly.

After a while, Scott Brown replies to his critics...
I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.
We should let Mr. Scott Brown (R, KENNEDY) know, politely but firmly, that we expect him to stick to his word.

But what do we expect? He lives in, and represents, freakin' MASSACHUSETTS, not Texas or Florida or Tennessee.

People in Massachusetts are a bit weird at times. They elected and re-elected that Kennedy fellow for decades, knowing full well what he did.

Don't go overboard with your criticism, is what I'm saying. Save the full-throated blasts for Obama, the resident dirty socialist and Gramscian.

What the? "Topless women sit on their sleighs during the nude bobsleigh competition in Braunlage, Germany"

Would I lie to you? )

Not in time for Rule 5 Sunday. But, eat your heart out, Smitty!

"It's one of those things that happens. People make mistakes and mistakes happen in science." A shame, though, that it's costing us our freakin' CULTURE

Another setback to Al Gore and his politically correct, forced-to-comply-or-we-all-DIE! AGW misanthropy...
Climate scientists withdraw journal claims of rising sea levels
Study claimed in 2009 that sea levels would rise by up to 82cm by the end of century – but the report's author now says true estimate is still unknown

Announcing the formal retraction of the paper from the journal, Siddall said: "It's one of those things that happens. People make mistakes and mistakes happen in science." He said there were two separate technical mistakes in the paper, which were pointed out by other scientists after it was published. A formal retraction was required, rather than a correction, because the errors undermined the study's conclusion.
Will the sea's level rise or not? Will yes, the sea's level has risen and fallen over the course of the millennia, for various reasons, warming being one of them. Is it caused by humans?  Is it my fault for enjoying air conditioning?

These recent problems with the 'settled science' Al Gore trumpeted (don't you know he's wishing he hand never said that?) hasn't changed any leftist's minds. What they have is an issue that they can embrace because they simply do not like industry or people who make money with industry. They are misanthropic; they would have people limited to just enough consumption or production as they themselves are comfortable with (never to exceed their output, they cannot stand the comparisons).  An editorial at today's NYT...
Yvo de Boer’s resignation on Thursday after nearly four tumultuous years as chief steward of the United Nations’ climate change negotiations has deepened a sense of pessimism about whether the world can ever get its act together on global warming. Mr. de Boer was plainly exhausted by endless bickering among nations and frustrated by the failure of December’s talks in Copenhagen to deliver the prize he had worked so hard for: a legally binding treaty committing nations to mandatory reductions in greenhouse gases.

...

The underlying thought is that the ultimate goal is a safe planet, and that absent a top-down global treaty, that goal is probably best achieved by aggressive, bottom-up national strategies to reduce emissions. Not that these are a sure thing; the United States, embarrassingly, has no national strategy. Until it gets one, it can hardly lecture anyone else. Nor will the world stand a ghost of a chance of bringing emissions under control.
Seems this opinion writer personage wants all of us in the USA to unilaterally cut our own economic throats. For to lead the world!

The leftists at the NYT want to implement unilateral mandatory and misanthropic 'global warming' strategies that would harm Team USA. Who knew they were of this mindset?

Where is Al Gore? Doesn't he need to be out front and center, in this time of setbacks to his religion; should he actually come out of his self-imposed hibernation and address the nation, maybe take the lead role left open by that UN Climate Change negotiator? Where are you, big Al?

Oh. It's still winter. He won't show until it warms up a bit.

Summer's coming. It's almost time for Al Gore to make an appearance. When he's sure that there won't be an embarrassing snowfall to greet him.

In the meantime, we, the evil 'denialists', have won several points. The most important being THE SCIENCE IS NOT SETTLED; another, THERE IS NO LONGER A CONSENSUS.

Sorry, Al Gore. You seem to be losing again.

Toyota knows: Dems 'not industry friendly'

Democrats not industry friendly? Who knew?
Toyota: Dems 'not industry friendly'

Internal Toyota documents derided the Obama administration and Democratic Congress as “activist” and “not industry friendly," a revelation that comes days before the giant automaker's top executives testify on Capitol Hill amid a giant recall.

According to a presentation obtained under subpoena by the House Oversight and Government Relations committee, Toyota referred to the “changing political environment” as one of its main challenges and anticipated a "more challenging regulatory" environment under the Obama administration's purview.
And do you know why this administration is unfriendly to foreign-owned automakers in particular? Union paybacks come to mind, as does the inherent dislike our current crop of Democrats have for the Capitalist system, the one that will reward the manufacturer who prices a good product competitively. Toyota slipped up in quality; now the wolves who hate their competitive edge are circling.

At least Toyota has identified their enemies. Now, if only they can get their problems corrected and earn back the trust of their customers...oh, let me mention that their pickups are not subject to any recall. And still the best trucks on the road AFAIC.

Barack Obama caught in a bare-faced lie (video)

From the video's Info...
We are witnessing one of the most dishonest administrations in American history. If you have any doubts watch this horrible Obama lie on ACORN caught on tape.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) released information on Barack Obama's relationship with ACORN at CPAC this week.

Issa Exposes President Obama's ACORN Connections at CPAC

WASHINGTON, D.C. - During remarks to the Conservative Political Action Conference today, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) released a video showing the close connection between President Barack Obama and the disgraced community organizing group ACORN.

Yesterday, Ranking Member Darrell Issa released a new report , "Follow the Money: ACORN, SEIU and their Political Allies" as a follow-up to a report on ACORN released July 23, 2009. The report includes new information gathered by committee investigators including over 50,000 pages of documents from ACORN offices in California and Oklahoma, from ACORN insiders in Missouri, Colorado, New York and Louisiana, and from Secretary of State offices and other election officials in nearly every state in the continental United States.

UPDATE

This video left by elfie in comments (not published; he still hasn't learned any real manners) gives us further insight into the jumbled and sad life led by Thomas Brusco.

The fellow is a simple sort of fellow, a Vietnam Vet, an ex-con himself, who was glad to get to ride in the front seat of a squad car for a change...

He adds new information: the guy who started the fight is another ex-con, supposedly a murderer who will become a not-ex-con because of Mr. Brusco's altercation. Or so Mr. Brusco says. Again, there's plenty of room in Mr. Brusco's skull to have...inventions.

But one thing he's right about...

"Don't fuck with old senior citizens, they'll surprise you once in a while..."

Oh, and his George Bush crack? I agree with that. I would never have voted for Bush if there was another, better opponent facing him. But Gore? Kerry? Might as well have voted for a full-speed-ahead Marxist-Leftist like Obama. A slower torture, but the end result would be the same.

Some Unsolicited Advice for Tiger Woods ...

Dunno. Maybe one of those two sex pots Tiger might count as a success? or is this considered a double bogey? (not a triple bogey just yet...give her a few months. Then, albatross~!)

The photo's original caption:
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL - FEBRUARY 19: The radio show MJ Morning show personalities Victory Martin (L) and Meredith Walusek stand near one of the entrances to where golfer Tiger Woods plans on making a statement at TPC Sawgrass on February 19, 2010 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Woods plans on speaking at the Sunset Room on the second floor of the TPC Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour.
Yeah. That speech went over so well, didn't it? An uninspired apology likely written by a highly-paid legal team with their intent on protecting the Tiger Woods' marketability. No questions allowed from the hand-chosen crowd of non-reporter sycophants and friends who were placed in exact positions like silverware at a formal dinner…no, I wasn’t impressed. Nor were sports writers, it seems. And therapy? sex therapy? Who the fuck is he trying to kid?

Elin is having none of it I’ll wager. She got her licks in already. With a putter.

This staged event was amateur hour FAIL at the highest level.

Other than that, I could care less.

Prayers for Dan...

Dan was admitted to the hospital this morning with low blood pressure. From brother Enoch...
Dan was admitted to the Emergency Room this morning.

If you’ll recall, some months back he was admitted for feeling dizzy, then faint, then became disoriented, and finally unresponsive.

It was thought at the time he had mistakenly taken someone else’s meds.

But I am told this is not at all likely this time around.

So, please say some prayers.

Thx
Enoch

Update – 10:22DANTIME (EST) – Blood Pressure Up but not to normal – still low. Sleeping. Can’t stay awake. Running EKG
Update – 11:30DANTIME (EST) – Blood Pressure tanked again. Can’t stay awake. Being Admitted.
Update – 1:40DANTIME (EST) – Blood Pressure still low. 3rd Unit of Liquids. Still can’t stay awake. Doctors are doctoring.
Update – 4:18DANTIME (EST) – Blood Pressure still low. 4th Unit of Liquids. Still extremely sleepy. But is oriented when roused. Still speaking like a moderate drunk. Doctors are still doctoring, as far as we know.
I just recently finished reading Dan's newest book (available here). "Was it Something I Said?" is a collection of Dan's writings and poems, some new, some posted previously at protein wisdom; with an included narrative history lesson of the early, heady days of blogging on teh intratubes.

Dan is a true scholar, a graduate of Dartmouth, a teacher of Shakespeare and English Literature, and a friend. He's given me some openings into bloggery things that no one else bothered to do; I'm happy to say I'm a friend of Dan's.

So, before this gets any worse, Dan, get back on your damned feet and back to busy!

Elton John has a hard-on for Jesus!

From the "too weird to believe unless you see it for yourself" file...
JESUS was GAY - according to the gospel of SIR ELTON JOHN.

"I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East -- you're as good as dead."
Maybe because, Elton, those countries that kill gays are not Christian. They are Muslim, Koranic, Muhammedean, Sharia Law sorts.

Sheesh. Does AIDS fry one's brain? Anyone? Elfie?

My Tweet of the Day, aimed at none other than that band-wrecker Yoko Ono (she of the ultimate strange):

Obama Gets One Right: Nuclear Power is Right for America, and for her future! But Greenie Weenie Misanthropes Disagree.

There is some minimal sane in Barack Hussein, as evidenced by his recent embrace of new nuclear power plants (a positive direction I've long desired to see the United States take). But sure enough, the whiny left is in opposition.

From the NYT...
Environmental Advocates Are Cooling on Obama

WASHINGTON — There has been no more reliable cheerleader for President Obama’s energy and climate change policies than Daniel J. Weiss of the left-leaning Center for American Progress.

Daniel J. Weiss of the Center for American Progress is disappointed by President Obama's enthusiasm for nuclear power.

But Mr. Obama’s recent enthusiasm for nuclear power, including his budget proposal to triple federal loan guarantees for new nuclear reactors to $54 billion, was too much for Mr. Weiss.

The president’s embrace of nuclear power was disappointing, and the wrong way to go about winning Republican votes, he said, adding that Mr. Obama should not be endorsing such a costly and potentially catastrophic energy alternative “as bait just to get talks started with pro-nuke senators.”

The early optimism of environmental advocates that the policies of former President George W. Bush would be quickly swept away and replaced by a bright green future under Mr. Obama is for many environmentalists giving way to resignation, and in some cases, anger.
There's push back from other left-leaning sources as well...TIME Magazine, for instance, speaks of the cost of new plants, and declares that the greatest threat to mankind EVAH, is the problem with disposal of the spent nuclear fuels.

If we could just for once put a moratorium on the endless parade of lawsuits the envirowhacko lobbies unleash at the first words of "New NUCLEAR Plant" then maybe, just maybe, utilities might want to move forward. Just as in health care, unharnessed lawyers are excessively intruding into what should be a straightforward process: build new plants with modern safeguards (France leads the way with 80% or better of it's electrical grid powered by nuclear), put 'em online, and reap the cost savings.

How many new hydroelectric dams have you heard of being constructed in the U.S., to harness the power of moving water? How many dams could we have constructed during the heyday of the TVA, if our modern version of insane envirowhackos and (mostly Democrat) progressives been on hand to naysay them?

The TVA powers my home with nuclear energy.

Oh. Nuclear Waste, you say?
GE and Hitachi want to use nuclear waste as a fuel

(PhysOrg.com) -- One of the world's biggest providers of nuclear reactors, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (a joint venture of General Electric and Hitachi), wants to reprocess nuclear waste for use as a fuel in advanced nuclear power plants, instead of burying it in waste repositories such as that proposed at Nevada's Yucca Mountain.

Conventional nuclear power plants in the US only harness around five percent of the energy of nuclear fuels. The reprocessing technique would separate nuclear waste into different types of fuels, some of which can be used in conventional nuclear power plants, and some of which can only be used in advanced fast neutron reactors. Reprocessing of nuclear waste to extract more useable fuel has been criticized in the US because it produces pure plutonium, which could be stolen and used to make nuclear weapons. To get around this difficulty, GE Hitachi’s proposed method produces a fuel that is much harder to steal.

The GE Hitachi process separates wastes from conventional nuclear power plants into three streams, by applying voltage to a molten salt. The first waste material consists of the products of fission, which cannot be further used as fuel and will need to be stored, but the storage time required is reduced from tens of thousands of years to a few hundred years (although a small fraction of the material will still need to be stored for over 10,000 years). The second material is uranium that does not have enough fissile material to be used in the light water uranium reactors in the US, which need enriched uranium, but it can be used by deuterium (heavy water) uranium reactors, which are used in Canada.

The final group of waste products is a mixture of transuranic elements including plutonium and neptunium. The plutonium is not separated from the other elements, and the mixture releases 1,000 times more heat and 10,000 times more neutrons than pure plutonium. This makes it much harder to steal, and therefore less of a security risk, and it is also much easier to detect. The mixture of transuranic elements can be used in nuclear reactors that use molten sodium as the coolant rather than water, and this type is used in Japan and a few other countries. GE Hitachi has designed a reactor known as the PRISM reactor that would be able to use the mixed fuel, but sodium cooled reactors have not been approved for use in the US.
Let's move forward with this new technology; let's show some faith in American industry and technology...again.

To HELL WITH ENVIRONMENTALISTS!

Progressives, envirowhackos, your time is UP.

A well-deserved Ass-Whuppin', care of an Old Man.

What happens when a young black guy, likely trying to impress his coterie of pretty young thangs, cries 'RAAAAACIST'! a few times too many? And strikes an old codger first?

Listen to what he says after he sat back down.

Just like a mouthy liberal. Can't take the whupping he so rightly deserves.

How's that old adage go? "Don't mess with an old man, because he'll kill you." Or maybe just embarrass you in front of anyone wired up on the intratubes~!

Kevin Smith booted from Southwest Airlines flight for having consumed too many cheesburgers. Oh, and Barack Obama's fat head in an ironic photo found on DRUDGE

Kevin Smith, author (of comic books &c.) - comedian - script writer - director (and, blogger , twitterer) and probable a pretty nice guy (John Candy comes to mind) was kicked off a flight because he was considered too wide to fit in a single seat (measured by his ability to lower both arm rests comfortably and still be able to, you know, breathe). Judge for yourself; this image of Kevin Smith at the Hollywood release of The Simpsons (three years and quite a few Big Macs ago, I'm thinking, so add some mental poundage to this image).

Yeah, I'd just love to sit down in my seat on a long flight to Vegas and have to hear this guy wheezing and moaning because he can't breathe, his ass is becoming numb from being levered into one of those 17" seats, not to mention the duffel bag of Doritos spilling out of his prodigious lap...

Now, I normally wouldn't bring this sort of thing up, but I'm tired of poking fun at politicos right now, and Mr. Obama is beginning to seem a bit more pathetic than usual (a Drudge report headline proclaims a "Shock" CNN Poll saying a majority of Americans don't think he'll deserve a 2nd term as US President...who knew?), and that, along with this ironic photo of Barack Hussein Obama...

...says to me that I can afford to take some precious blog time to post something different.

Oh, that, and Kevin Smith, instead of slinking back in shame and embarrassment and hitting the treadmill, runs his mouth at being booted from the flight and brings the wrath of many of his followers down on Southwest (unfairly I think; is it Southwest's fault he stuffed himself with every food item in sight that couldn't crawl away and hide?).

Maybe Southwest feared Smith would eat the pilot.

Barack Obama's official Twitterer - Face Booker - My Spaceweaseler, Mia Cambronero, is a far-left product of far, far left George Soros-funded MoveOn dot org(y).

From Newsbusters...
The woman that poses as Barack Obama on all his social networking websites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter is connected to the far-left organization MoveOn.org.
...
On Friday, the Wall Street Journal revealed the identity of the current Twitterer as Mia Cambronero.

Our friends at Sweetness & Light have discovered that she is a senior fellow at the New Organizing Institute which is described by Discover The Networks ...
Go read the rest.

Bottom line, we have yet another reason to doubt BHO's sincerity as to his desire to ever govern in or even near the center, or attract any support from someone who isn't already some sort of leftard. If BHO can't pick a Personal Twitterer who's more like, say, middle American than obviously like a freakin' Marxist, how can he expect to get his more 'official' nominees approved? "Online Organizer", indeed. She looks like an Amanda Marcotte playtoy.

Just another Barack Obama All-American mistake.

Hey, Hey, TSA! WTF did you do today ?

How's about forcing a 4-year old who can't walk without leg braces to remove his leg braces? Then, not letting anyone help him through the metal detector, but making him 'walk' on his own? This is beyond the pale, even for the "new" TSA.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer...
This happened to Bob Thomas, a 53-year-old officer in Camden's emergency crime suppression team, who was flying to Orlando in March with his wife, Leona, and their son, Ryan.

Ryan was taking his first flight, to Walt Disney World, for his fourth birthday.
The boy is developmentally delayed, one of the effects of being born 16 weeks prematurely. His ankles are malformed and his legs have low muscle tone. In March he was just starting to walk.

Mid-morning on March 19, his parents wheeled his stroller to the TSA security point, a couple of hours before their Southwest Airlines flight was to depart.
The boy's father broke down the stroller and put it on the conveyor belt as Leona Thomas walked Ryan through the metal detector.
The alarm went off.

The screener told them to take off the boy's braces.

The Thomases were dumbfounded. "I told them he can't walk without them on his own," Bob Thomas said.

"He said, 'He'll need to take them off.' "

Ryan's mother offered to walk him through the detector after they removed the braces, which are custom-made of metal and hardened plastic.

No, the screener replied. The boy had to walk on his own.
Since Ryan's father is a police officer, he knew better than to make a scene. So, he waited, then reported the matter to the Airport manager, who involved the TSA...
On Friday, TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis said the boy never should have been told to remove his braces.

TSA policy should have allowed the parents to help the boy to a private screening area where he could have been swabbed for traces of explosive materials.

She said she wished Thomas had reported the matter to TSA immediately. "If screening is not properly done, we need to go back to that officer and offer retraining so it's corrected."

Davis also said TSA's security director at the airport, Bob Ellis, called Thomas last week to apologize. He gave Thomas the name of the agency's customer service representative, in case he has a problem at the airport in the future.
Afterward, Thomas said he appreciated Ellis' call. He said he had no interest in pursuing the matter further or in filing a lawsuit.

"I'm just looking for things to be done right," he said. "And I just want to make sure this isn't done to anyone else. Just abide by your standard operating procedures."
But that the hired TSA agent didn't know any better than to force a 4-year-old boy with an obvious handicap to remove his leg braces is sufficient evidence to me to conclude without any reasonable doubt that we have lost.

Lost, I say; it's all over. The terrorists have won.

We have STUPID running the show; the entire Federal Government is 'developmentally challenged'.

Doug Fieger, "My Sharona", dies at 57

RIP, Doug, and thanks! for the good times that came out of my 8-track.

Lyrics, from the link (non-embeddable video)
Oo my little pretty one, pretty one
When you gonna give me some time, Sharona?

Oo you make my motor run, my motor run
Gun it coming off of the line, Sharona

Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up with a touch of the younger kind
My-ee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma my Sharona

Come a little closer, over here
Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona
Keep a little mystery, kissin' me
Runnin' down the length of my thigh, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up from a touch of the younger kind
My-ee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma my Sharona
Ma ma ma my Sharona

When ya gonna get to me, get to me
Is it just a matter of time, Sharona
Is it a destiny, a destiny
Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up from a touch of the younger kind
My-ee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma
Myee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma my Sharona

Ooooh my Sharona
Sigh.

Is Barack Obama (he of the voodoo Keyenesian Economics) a stealth Marxist who is seeking to implement socialism or Marxism to "save America from it's Evil Capitalist Soul"?

A powerful article in the Canadian Free Press this weekend presents a plausible worse-case scenario concerning our stumbling, flailing, fumbling, failing American President's adventure in voodoo Keyensian Economics. Nothing new here, really; it's nice to see these things written and presented with such alacrity. Some snippets...
"Barack has a Private Language problem with his Obamanomics, in that he promises his ideas will work, despite any evidence to the contrary – regardless of how illogical the ideas seem, how contrary the math turns out to be, or despite how contradictory the current outcome is. Barack blankly claims we must just put our faith in him because of his profound economic knowledge. But isn’t it possible Obama has already made a terrible decision to waste nearly a trillion dollars on a Stimulus Bill that did not keep unemployment from topping 8%, as promised? Further, claiming jobs were created or “saved” by the Bill, despite hard evidence that eight million folks have lost their job during Obama’s tenure, seems sheer sophistry.

"Critics have further pointed out the Stimulus Bill was not built for stimulus, to begin with. Instead, borrowed money will be spent for years, which was not the immediate jolt of adrenaline most assumed would occur when it was passed. But these facts certainly help explain why unemployment has hovered near 10% for months, as total unemployment – by every category – is now supposedly 17%. Yet the administration has talked about another “stimulus” or “jobs” bill that would cost hundreds of billions more."
There was much mention that this policy of "borrow now, print now to stimulate later, oh, and don't worry about the interest, our grandkids have us covered!" was methodology timed to make sure Democrats got the needed pork-monies during their re-election cycles; much of it specifically in 2012. Who knew? We did, those of us who had open eyes.
"We must now ask why Obama would want to purposely damage the US economy, if his depredations are not accidental? The answer could quite simply be that Barack Obama is a genuine communist. In fact, most of his family were either sympathetic to socialism or Marxism, including both fathers, his mother, his grandparents, a childhood mentor Mr. Davis, his friends Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, his pastor of two decades Rev. Wright, and even members of his White House team, like Van Jones. So, since water seeks its own level, the idea of Obama actually carrying Marxist values inside his heart would hardly seem shocking, given his background.

"Now, if Barack is a closet Marxist, then his beliefs teach him that free market capitalism is a bad thing and it hurts people. So, destroying our capitalist economy would result in liberation of many American people, since capitalism is an unfair and wicked economic system. In other words, since Marxists hate capitalism because they believe it is evil, to destroy capitalism helps people who are slaves in that type economy. Karl Marx once wrote, “Capital is dead labor, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labor, and lives the more, the more labor it sucks.”
The meat of the article. Barack Hussein Obama, if he is secretly still a Marxist, is hell-bent on bringing about CHANGE no matter who or what stands in his way. If this is true, he is in office as a liar, having taken an oath to uphold and protect the U.S. Constitution. As a constitutional lawyer, he knows it's weaknesses. Who better to be a closet Marxist saboteur?
"Obama is certainly far left in his policies. And following the careers of the great Marxist leaders, whether Lenin, Stalin or Mao, reveals them all to have been furiously arrogant and utterly misinformed upon economics, and their stupid mistakes lead to the deaths of tens of millions. Perhaps this is inevitable, given Marxism’s utter contempt for the details of capitalism. But the question remains – is Obama simply a misinformed, yet well-meaning economic misfit; or is he intent on crashing American capitalism to implement the huge changes he ominously promised during his campaign?

"Barack’s relentless confidence might not be so much from his belief that his atomic Keynesian routine will work. Instead, it just might be because he knows it will fail spectacularly. And if it does, Obama will be in a great position to implement socialism or Marxism to “save” America from its evil Capitalist soul."
I certainly hope that this speculation is merely speculation. Let's just hope that he's only a saucer-eyed beginner who doesn't know any better, making these misguided mistakes that probably won't destroy our economy. And that if we can just make it to 2012, we can get the adults back in the White House.

Aren't you glad we who are not of the far-left bent, of the new-styled mind-numbed socialisty Democrat party of CHANGE at ALL COSTS, are keeping a close eye on Barack Hussein Obama?

Patrick Kennedy not running for re-election in Rhode Island. Patrick: a Rat Deserting a Sinking Ship, a Dinghy Named CAMELOT

Just last week Patrick Kennedy said that Scott Brown (R, Kennedy) winning his father's seat was 'a joke'.

Who's laughing now, frat boi?

On the Butthurt of Liberal Academicians

Jeff Goldstein posts on lefty Professor Jere Surber's inability to understand the reality that is his limp (and as he sees it, unfair) paycheck. There's something about the pecking order whereby professors of the softer sort make less money than those who pass along the 'hard' sciences.

Well, imagine that! Lefty Professor Surber wants more cash for his mostly self-congratulatory 'profession', and has this huge butthurt that he’s perceived as less useful to a  modern, supposedly more 'progressive' society. News Flash! Your are less useful to humanity than any physicist, medical doctor, most scientists, and all astronauts. (Notice I didn't mention lawyers; that profession I think is the lesser of even a weakly-thinking Professor of Guitar... )

Let’s see any of these Liberal Arts academicians do a thing to, say, improve any human’s lifespan or get us closer to Mars. Best they can do is slow us down, as Obama’s done by slashing away at NASA, with demands for socialistic equivalences.

Not that there’s anything wrong with Liberal Arts studies, mind you. Prof. Surber's argument is that he and his oh-so-almighty liberal ilk should be worth more on the open market (is he getting in line for another Obama 'bailout'?). Well, Prof, hard science academes (producers of the ‘good stuff’) vs. you of the fluttery (softer) liberal arts (consumers, mostly) deserve exactly what you are getting: less than those who produce and improve the physical aspects of our market society.

I find you next to useless, Prof. Surber. And worth much less to me than is, say, my dentist.

Republicans respond to Barack Obama's little 'ole "Join us around the campfire now for marshmallows and BIPARTISANSHIP!" concession.

Heh. Obama gets handed Scott Brown (R, Kennedy), finds his far-left agenda in disarray, and decides to advance a belated offer to Republicans.

An offer the GOP must refuse.

From Huffinblow...
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said on Monday that President Obama is willing to "add various elements" to health care legislation suggested by Republican lawmakers during an upcoming bipartisan meeting on the topic. But he won't change the entire plan and he is "absolutely not" hitting the reset button on the legislative process, the former Kansas governor insisted.
That's very nice of you, mr. prezzidint man. To offer a seat to the RADICALS and OBSTRUCTIONISTS!!!!!!11!!11! in the  PARTY OF NO!, the Republicans, to not-hear them, to perhaps add a couple of minor points (nothing MAJOR like Tort Reform or cross-state-line insurance sales), but not CUT anything, heavens! no, from your massive ObamaCare plan, THEN ram the hulking, grotesque failure of a 'reform' through the House and Senate.

I think not.

Neither do Republicans, thankfully...
Mr. Emanuel:

We welcome President Obama’s announcement of forthcoming bipartisan health care talks. In fact, you may remember that last May, Republicans asked President Obama to hold bipartisan discussions on health care in an attempt to find common ground on health care, but he declined and instead chose to work with only Democrats. Since then, the President has given dozens of speeches on health care reform, operating under the premise that the more the American people learn about his plan, the more they will come to like it. Just the opposite has occurred: a majority of Americans oppose the House and Senate health care bills and want them scrapped so we can start over with a step-by-step approach focused on lowering costs for families and small businesses.

Just as important, scrapping the House and Senate health care bills would help end the uncertainty they are creating for workers and businesses and thus strengthen our shared commitment to focusing on creating jobs. Assuming the President is sincere about moving forward on health care in a bipartisan way, does that mean he will agree to start over so that we can develop a bill that is truly worthy of the support and confidence of the American people? Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said today that the President is “absolutely not” resetting the legislative process for health care.

If the starting point for this meeting is the job-killing bills the American people have already soundly rejected, Republicans would rightly be reluctant to participate. Assuming the President is sincere about moving forward in a bipartisan way, does that mean he has taken off the table the idea of relying solely on Democratic votes and jamming through health care reform by way of reconciliation? As the President has noted recently, Democrats continue to hold large majorities in the House and Senate, which means they can attempt to pass a health care bill at any time through the reconciliation process.

Eliminating the possibility of reconciliation would represent an important show of good faith to Republicans and the American people. If the President intends to present any kind of legislative proposal at this discussion, will he make it available to members of Congress and the American people at least 72 hours beforehand? Our ability to move forward in a bipartisan way through this discussion rests on openness and transparency. Will the President include in this discussion congressional Democrats who have opposed the House and Senate health care bills? This bipartisan discussion should reflect the bipartisan opposition to both the House bill and the kickbacks and sweetheart deals in the Senate bill. Will the President be inviting officials and lawmakers from the states to participate in this discussion?

As you may know, legislation has been introduced in at least 36 state legislatures, similar to the proposal just passed by the Democratic-controlled Virginia State Senate, providing that no individual may be compelled to purchase health insurance. Additionally, governors of both parties have raised concerns about the additional costs that will be passed along to states under both the House and Senate bills. The President has also mentioned his commitment to have “experts” participate in health care discussions.

Will the Feb. 25 discussion involve such "experts?" Will those experts include the actuaries at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), who have determined that the both the House and Senate health care bill raise costs – just the opposite of their intended effect – and jeopardize seniors’ access to high-quality care by imposing massive Medicare cuts? Will those experts include the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, which has stated that the GOP alternative would reduce premiums by up to 10 percent? Also, will Republicans be permitted to invite health care experts to participate? Finally, as you know, this is the first televised White House health care meeting involving the President since last March.

Many health care meetings of the closed-door variety have been held at the White House since then, including one where a sweetheart deal was worked out with union leaders. Will the special interest groups that the Obama Administration has cut deals with be included in this televised discussion? Of course, Americans have been dismayed by the fact that the President has broken his own pledge to hold televised health care talks. We can only hope this televised discussion is the beginning, not the end, of attempting to correct that mistake. Will the President require that any and all future health care discussions, including those held on Capitol Hill, meet this common-sense standard of transparency and openness?

Your answers to these critical questions will help determine whether this will be a truly open, bipartisan discussion or merely an intramural exercise before Democrats attempt to jam through a job-killing health care bill that the American people can’t afford and don’t support. ‘Bipartisanship’ is not writing proposals of your own behind closed doors, then unveiling them and demanding Republican support. Bipartisan ends require bipartisan means. These questions are also designed to try and make sense of the widening gap between the President’s rhetoric on bipartisanship and the reality. We cannot help but notice that each of the President’s recent bipartisan overtures has been coupled with harsh, misleading partisan attacks. For instance, the President decries Republican ‘obstruction’ when it was Republicans who first proposed bipartisan health care talks last May.

The President says Republicans are ‘sitting on the sidelines’ just days after holding up our health care alternative and reading from it word for word. The President has every right to use his bully pulpit as he sees fit, but this is the kind of credibility gap that has the American people so fed up with business as usual in Washington. We look forward to receiving your answers and continuing to discuss ways we can move forward in a bipartisan manner to address the challenges facing the American people.

Sincerely,

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH)

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA)

[emboldenings mine]
Put some of that in your pipe and smoke, mr. prezzidint man.
