Democratic donors like George Soros and fellow billionaire Peter Lewis, who each gave more than $20 million to Democratic-oriented groups in the 2004 election, appear to be holding back.Twisting in the wind, these awful "D" congresscritters who've done so much damage with their ObamaCare, TARP bailouts and other overtly socialist programs.
"Mr. Soros believes that he can be most effective by funding groups that promote progressive policy outcomes in areas such as health care, the environment and foreign policy," said an adviser, Michael Vachon. "So he has opted to fund those activities."
A good thing, and a sign of just how desperate businesses are, spending hard-earned monies to help ensure a better future for our business community.Businesses Step Up Political Ads
From eye doctors to real estate agents, businesses are funding millions of dollars of campaign advertisements and mailings to help candidates, mostly Republicans, win this fall.

"It was offensive. It was hateful. And particularly for him to make the statement here in Manhattan, just a little north of Ground Zero, where families lost their loved ones, people of all faiths, all ethnicities who see this as the seminal tragedy of this generation, for him to make a statement like that was inexcusable,"No, Barack Hussein Obama wasn't speaking to Imam Faisal Abdur Rauf, the spokesman - Holy man behind the building of the Ground Zero Mosque; he was speaking to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, another Islamic builder, of sorts.
“Ground zero is, indeed, hallowed ground,” Obama said at a White House dinner celebrating the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. “But let me be clear: As a citizen and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances.”What's the difference? Doesn't Mahmoud have the same rights to 'free speech' as Faisal and company have rights to express their religious beliefs by building a Mosque much closer to Ground Zero than the U.N. ? And those words, and Ahmadinejad, are gone from Manhattan. Faisal and his Mosque will be planted there forever.
Bradley: it is the Islamic belief in the afterlife that could be an incentive to die in the name of Islam. According to the prophet Mohammed, the next life is paradise, offering forgiveness.Mr. Obama, can you get your story straight? Either a man has a right to free speech whilst in this country or he doesn't. Either Ground Zero is hallowed ground or it isn't. Just make up your mind, m'kay?
Faisal: In the Islamic belief system, the next life is the primary life. The next life is more real, more intense, and more vivid.
Yusuf: I think that there are people that do these things that believe that we have a noble end, and the noble end is to bring about some kind of conflict to wake up the Muslim world, to start a global jihad against the evil west.
Bradley: And the Satan of the evil west, according to Muslim extremists, is the United States and its culture of commercialism, which Imam Farid Esack equates with a religion.
Esack: it is the fastest- growing religion in the world, the religion of consumerism, and everybody is being drawn into this new religion. And if you do not buy into this, you are an outcast, you are a heretic, and there is the hellfire of utter poverty which awaits you.
Bradley: And throughout the Muslim world, there is also strong opposition to America's foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East because of its support of Israel and economic sanctions against Iraq.
Faisal: it is a reaction against the US government politically, where we espouse principles of democracy and human rights, and where we ally ourselves with oppressive regimes in many of these countries.
Bradley: Are you in any way suggesting that we in the United States deserved what happened?
Faisal: I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened, but united states policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.
Bradley: You say that we're an accessory? How?
Faisal: Because we have been accessory to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world. In fact, in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.
"We worried about 'the cow' when it was all about 'Ice Cream'.What we have today (actually Friday night) are still more bailouts resultant from the mortgage bubble's collapse, this time a bailout for Credit Unions; more precisely, a couple of the wholesale credit unions: those entities that exist to service groups of smaller credit unions; handling their day-to-day tasks such as check processing &c. Too much invested in mortgage-backed securities, these large Credit Unions; their portfolios shattered, they needed some bailout monies happily provided by our Federal Government, in exchange for a bigger role in determining future rules of conduct. A loud, unwelcome voice in their operations.
"The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided that we would have an election for a class president.
"We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates would be nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
"We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.
"I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never met Olivia's mother.
"The day for their speeches arrived. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down.
"Now it was Olivia's turn to speak. Her speech was precise. She said, "if you vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream!"
"She surely could have said more. She did not have to.
"A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it, or would the class pay for it? She didn't know.
"The class didn't really care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
"Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide."
Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They wanted ice cream.
The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.
What we have today is the ice cream Obama promised us! Did you vote for the ice cream?
Remember, the government cannot give anything, to anyone, that they have not taken from someone else.
November 2 is Take Out The Trash Day!
All this trouble is due to the Carter's "Community Reinvestment Act", reinforced by that disbarred felon Clinton, and pushed through by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd by means of threats of fines and jail; then helped by ACORN thugs with their demostrations and threats of physical force. That wimp Bush was of no help with his "ownership society"; some 2 million homes were given to "underserved minorities" with no hope of ever being able to pay those mortgages. ACORN Housing Corporation alone "sold" 600,000 such mortgages, qualifying buyers on the basis of their welfare and unemployment checks.well, shush your mouth. Such things aren't spoken in polite company, no matter how much truth is sausage-cased in it.
“Why is Barack Obama obsessed with appeasing the establishment? Was he being completely disingenuous when he ran on change?"Was that one far left enough for you? Try this one...
Because, if one looks at his personal story - Harvard, U Chicago, speech at Demo convention, it is clear that Barack Obama is a "made man" and he was made by (and to serve) "the establishment." He IS the establishment, or more cynically, one in a long line of American Uncle Tom's. A sad old story. [emboldenings mine -ed]
But - people lumping Obama's disapproval ratings into one homogenous pile are making a big mistake. Those aren't a Republican votes. Much of the disapproval is from the left - people who don't think bills like health care and finreg went far enough. It's one thing to answer a poll question on the phone, its another to decide not go out and vote. But the Dems had better do something real to bring those people out on election day. Of course, totally dropping the ball on DADT and the tax cuts was NOT a very good show. Oy.'Barbarians' are at the gates? Really? This fellow needs to follow the line of American history, and note exactly where this Republic jumped ship, right about when 'hippies' became 'grown-ups' and took over the Democrat Party. Then, we see the out-of-control entitlements that have all but broken this nation, and the promises of more and more from Democrat looters for to attract their target-audience-moocher's votes. There you will find your barbarians, fellow.
Look, the barbarians at at the gates fellas. History isn't going to talk about what the professional left did. It's gonna talk about how you managed to convince and fight and resurrect this country from decline under 8 years of George W. Bush (and the people he represents) or it's gonna be about how the unholy alliance of the Tea Party and the irresponsible wealthy kicked your butts and finished the job GWB started.
It was a tough, tough campaign, but we believed in you. We knocked on the doors, we made the phone calls, we gave the money. We put you in charge.
Now do something, damn it.
Nice piece. Comprehensive and concise, just the way I like it. Has anyone other than the questioner ever heard of "hippie punching"? Sure is new to this old hippie. Sounds like a cheap shot at a group of young folks who made America examine her conscience. Hippies are not a joke.THREAD WINNAH! Mr. ObscureChemist gets the Stupid Comment of the Day award. Now, go do a couple lines in celebration, why don't you? Oh, you didn't really need at all my encouragements?

So here’s the thing. President Obama has gone out of his way to lecture us all about being our brother’s keeper, which I’d have to agree with when applied on an individual basis. But, there are folks that don’t believe in this central tenet of Christianity, so the question is, should their tax dollars be used to be anyone else’s keeper? You think Obama cares anything about anyone in his family? He's narcissistic, so there's very little but self-love in that man's head.
And furthermore, last I checked, President Obama has made quite a few bucks in public life, especially over the last few years. Wouldn’t you think he, as Aunti Zeituni’s famous and successful nephew, would want to do something for the old girl? Wouldn’t he want to see her live without want or need, perhaps even nearer to him and his family?
And even if the answer to both those questions is a resounding, NO!, in a time that demands fiscal austerity and when the national debate on how to deal with illegal immigration and immigrants is in the fore, don’t you think he would prefer that one of his relatives wasn’t here illegally, living off taxpayer largesse?

Obama is no warrior. He's the middleman, the closer. This country has had a date with destiny since the radical Left began spreading its poison decades ago. Obama is simply the empty suit brought in to close the deal.A fiery orator, sure, but no leader of men. Fits well with BHO's prior statement, made while he was on the campaign trail, and implied later whilst he was on one of his numerous vacations:
Bill Ayers, for instance, got down and dirty by bombing the New York City Police Department, the Capitol, and the Pentagon. Van Jones served time in jail during the Rodney King riots.
But Obama the warrior? I don't see it. He's a poser and a posturer, a blank screen on which others project their fantasies. Obama does not embrace his father's dreams, nor does he have many of his own.
...
Obama doesn't have the fire, or the cajones, as Palin memorably phrased it, to be a revolutionary. He likes his arugula and his fine wine. He will not get his manicured fingers dirty.
Like Cloward and Piven, he's another version of the carrier syndrome, a sort of Typhoid Barry. He gestures with his middle finger about Hillary and whips the crowd into a frenzy. Or he cajoles people to hit back hard, and maniacs beat up conservatives.

This morning the President took part in an unusual sort of town hall in conjunction with CNBC. The audience was made up of “CEOs, union workers, teachers and students” as host John Harwood put it, and the questions reflected a broad variety of perspectives on the economy and jobs in America.Hand-picked audience, with the Union Thugs there to keep any 'real' background noise and dissent quietened. As if anyone chosen to attend this event would be allowed to have a spine within 300 yards of this little prezzidint-man.
In opening remarks, the President recounted the over-arching story of his Administration so far: how the Recovery Act and other emergency actions were responsible for millions of American jobs and brought the country back from the brink of another Great Depression.Really? the over-arching lie about creating hundreds of ACORN census-worker jobs, the 'Recovery Act' that gave plenty of DemStim Spendulous monies to Democrat-approved projects and companies? And this recovery of which you speak, why isn't it so noticeable? Oh, there it is: in the hiring boom. Silly me, should've noticed.
The President talked about how, even as he’s worked to boost our recovery in the short term, he’s also focused on creating a new foundation for the country so the next generation won’t be squeezed the same way – reforming student loans, putting families in charge of their own health care, creating a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau dedicated solely to making sure families get a fair shake.Wait a minute. Did he really say 'putting families in charge of their own health care? Doesn't he mean taking decisions away from families, and forcing them to buy health care under penalty of law? Where's the mention of his over-arching Statist Involvement in health care? If his intent was to keep health care affordable, he wouldn't have launched his massive ObamaCare plan that we simply can't afford. Oh, and Student Loan bailouts, that's in the works, and given a plug here. Offering more free monies for votes, eh? Just what Democrats want: free stuff they haven't earned.
"And so my goal here is not to try to convince you that everything is where it needs to be. It’s not. That's why I ran for President. But what I am saying is, is that we’re moving in the right direction. And if we are able to keep our eye on our long-term goal -- which is making sure that every family out there, if they’re middle class, that they can pay their bills, have the security of health insurance, retire with dignity and respect, send their kids to college; if they’re not yet in the middle class, that there are ladders there to get into the middle class, if people work hard and get an education to apply themselves -- that's our goal. That's the America we believe in. And I think that we are on track to be able to do that."Demonizing the rich, the wealthy, the job-makers by omission. Because they are, you know, evil. Unless they are Democrats of course; those who donate large sums to elect these dirty socialist leftist closet Bearded Marxist bastards, then they get a pass.
During his junior year of college, Coons studied abroad at the University of Nairobi in Kenya, which greatly influenced his political beliefs. After returning he wrote an article entitled “Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist.”Sounds like trouble, yes he does. Sounds like a typical Neo-far-Left Social Democrat, one who wants CHANGE, at any cost.

While Rove's critique was tough, the reaction in parts of the conservative blogosphere has been unhinged. Michelle Malkin wrote that it "might as well have been Olbermann on MSNBC." Mark Levin pronounced Rove at "war against the Tea Party movement and conservatives." "In terms of the conservative movement," wrote Dan Riehl, "we should not simply ignore him, but proactively work to undermine Rove in whatever ways we can, given his obvious willingness to undermine us."Positions I support fully. Why, you ask, does Gerson believe otherwise?
Some conservatives have adopted the Bolshevik approach to information and the media: Every personal feeling, every independent thought, every inconvenient fact, must be subordinated to the party line -- the Tea Party line.Bolsheviks...let's see...those evil Communist rubes who split the Communist party and delayed the 1917 Revolution? Really, Michael?
The Bolsheviks believed in organising a party in a centralised and disciplined fashion that sought to overthrow the Tsar through a mass workers' revolution. You are confused, Michael. The Tea Party is the Starfish Party; there's no central organization, and no mass worker's revolution. Maybe you're thinking of Obama's ACORN or Union Thug moochers, the 'shock troops' of the Democrat Party.
Man oh man, if this is what America wants as national policy, then we certainly are doomed.Obama urges blacks to vote and "guard the change"
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama, seeking to fire up an important part of his support base ahead of November's elections, told black leaders on Saturday he wanted their support to "guard the change" he was delivering.
"I need everybody here to go back to your neighborhoods, and your workplaces, to your churches, and barbershops, and beauty shops. Tell them we have more work to do. Tell them we can't wait to organize. Tell them that the time for action is now," he told the Congressional Black Caucus.
The words of America's first black president showed a deliberate effort to recapture the enthusiasm that had helped him win the White House in 2008, after polls showed African- Americans much less likely to vote than whites this year.
"It's not surprising that a lot of people may not be feeling that energized or that engaged right now," he told an annual awards ceremony hosted by the organization representing black members of the U.S. Congress.

Even before Christine O’Donnell handily defeated Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) in an epic upset Tuesday night, the Tea Parties, all of them, had already won. No matter what happens in the midterm elections on Nov. 2, the Tea Party has moved the Democrats to the right and the Republicans even more so, and President Obama’s agenda is dead. [emboldenings mine -ed.]Finally, we see cogent commentary and (hopefully) correct analysis of the Tea Party phenom. The 'Starfish' Party, that loose conglomeration of disaffected Conservatives who are lashing out at Democrats and slow-response Republicans alike, is now a force to be reckoned with. No matter how many these far-left Democrats chuck their favorite spear "RAAAAACIST!!!11!1!" at us, no matter how many times spine-challenged blue-blood Republicans remonstrate against 'unelectable' Tea Party candidates, no matter who the New York Times lauds or poo-poohs on 'our' side of the aisle, we are here and we are affecting CHANGE.
"The conservative movement was told to curl up in a fetal position and just stay there for the next eight years, thank you very much. Well, how things have changed," O'Donnell said, to cheers.I just hope we're not too late.
O'Donnell, who defeated Castle by a 6-point margin despite sustained attacks on her misstatements and financial troubles – past and present — repeatedly chided "the ruling class" and championed "a rowdy revolution of reason."
Along the way, the movement has picked up some of the worst excesses of modern American culture: a narcissistic sense of victimization, an egomaniacal belief in one’s own rightness and purity, a willingness to distort the truth so that every conflict becomes a contest of pure good versus pure evil. *In other words, David, you believe that the Tea Party is forcing Republicans to behave and become exactly as has the far-left, progressive, Republic-destroying Democrats have behaved for the past 20 years, a force Right to counter the force with which you are aligned: malicious and destructive Left.

Does voting for the more conservative candidate in the primary mean the seat will go blue? Absolutely not, and I’m not suggesting conservatives should endorse moderate Republicans out of political expediency. I do, however, think it’s naïve and dangerous to prefer a true blue Democrat to a moderate Republican (RINO). The last few elections have seen several RINOs swept from office; but a few more RINOs might have prevented HCR from passing.I completely disagree. A RINO who has achieved an election win with an (R) next to his or her name is a liar first and, having won with that (R) label, should be expected to meet a minimum standard of Republican Party loyalty. What good is the (R) label if your chosen representative is a RINO whose votes are for the opposition?
Ask yourself: What made our Greatest Generation great? First, the problems they faced were huge, merciless and inescapable: the Depression, Nazism and Soviet Communism. Second, the Greatest Generation’s leaders were never afraid to ask Americans to sacrifice. Third, that generation was ready to sacrifice, and pull together, for the good of the country. And fourth, because they were ready to do hard things, they earned global leadership the only way you can, by saying: “Follow me.” [emboldening mine; ed.]After the Greatest Generation followed the Leftist Generation, imbibing deeply of the mistakes of the '60's: the birth and coddling of the Baby Boomers, their subsequent radicalism and the mainstreaming of drugs, the sexual revolution of the hippies and that 'Summer of Love', the seemingly overnight turning away from the values that earned Americans the role of the World's Superpower.
Ask yourself: What made our Greatest Generation great? And, since Friedman knows he's writing for the New York Times, the jaded far-left liberals of privilege, he has to end his essay on a weak note. Why are our kids failing, Thomas?
In a flat world where everyone has access to everything, values matter more than ever. Right now the Hindus and Confucians have more Protestant ethics than we do, and as long as that is the case we’ll be No. 11!BINGO! JACKPOT! But a weak ending bit of prose, for a professional; but again, he's speaking to his base, and he'll catch plenty of hell for mentioning "Protestant Ethics" because The Left HATES HAVING TO ADMIT VALUES ARE IMPORTANT, especially RELIGIOUS VALUES. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf told CNN that the discourse surrounding the center has become so politicized that moving it could strengthen the ability of extremists abroad to recruit and wage attacks against Americans, including troops fighting in the Middle East. But really it's our fault for noticing.
"The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack," he said, but he added that he was open to the idea of moving the planned location of the center, currently two blocks north of the World Trade Center site.
"But if you don't do this right, anger will explode in the Muslim world," he later said, predicting that the reaction could be more furious than the eruption of violence following the 2005 publication of Danish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

A woman lies dead on the side of a road with a warning message next to her in Cuernavaca, Mexico, Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. The message was signed by a group called "The resistance".This town, Cuernavaca, is a flashpoint for the drug cartels. Just last month, 4 decapitated bodies were found hanging from a bridge.
Unfortunately, many states have "emergency powers" laws that give the government permission to suspend or limit gun sales, and to prohibit or restrict citizens from transporting or carrying firearms. In some states, authorities are authorized to seize guns outright from citizens who've committed no crime--and who would then be defenseless against disorder.
The movement to change these laws is gaining speed. Just two months after Hurricane Katrina, the Louisiana legislature--with only one dissenting vote--adopted a resolution declaring "the policy of the state of Louisiana to protect and uphold the citizens' right to keep and bear arms in their residences, businesses, and means of transport, and on their persons," condemning the seizure of firearms from New Orleans citizens, and announcing it planned to amend Louisiana's emergency powers law "to rectify the denial of these rights."4 Since then, 21 additional states have joined Louisiana by passing laws to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners by prohibiting the confiscation of firearms during a time of emergency.

In terms of the July ‘11 issue, you know, I think if you follow it closely, and of course we all do, we know the president was talking to several audiences at the same time when he made his comments on July 2011.Giving our enemy sustenance. Krauthammer points out that phrase is just a couple rhetorical steps away from 'aiding and abetting the enemy', a no-no for a Commander in Chief.
In some ways, we think right now it’s probably giving our enemy sustenance. We think that he may be saying to himself -- in fact, we’ve intercepted communications that say, hey, you know, we only have to hold out for so long.
GEN. CONWAY: I don’t know. I don’t know. The law will CHANGE, General. Unfortunately, Democrats are all for forcing things to fit where they shouldn't.
We sometimes ask Marines, you know, what is -- what is their preference. And I can tell you that an overwhelming majority would like not to be roomed with a person who is openly homosexual.
Some do not object and perhaps -- you know, perhaps a voluntary basis might be the best way to start, without violating anybody’s sense of moral concern or perception on the part of their mates.
I don’t know. We’re not there yet. And it’s one of those hypotheticals at this point that we have to consider but we won’t have to deal with until the law changes, if it does.
Mr. Bush's disfavor in Washington owes more to his greatest success. Simply put, there are those who will never forgive Mr. Bush for not losing a war they had all declared unwinnable.Barack Hussein Obama campaigned and won on his party's contempt for George Bush and for the Iraq war. Each and every one of 'em tried their damndest to lose it for us. Remember the Senate Sleepover?
Here in the afterglow of the turnaround led by Gen. David Petraeus, it's easy to forget what the smart set was saying two years ago -- and how categorical they all were in their certainty. The president was a simpleton, it was agreed. Didn't he know that Iraq was a civil war, and the only answer was to get out as fast as we could?
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee -- the man who will be sworn in as vice president today -- didn't limit himself to his own opinion. Days before the president announced the surge, Joe Biden suggested to the Washington Post he knew the president's people had also concluded the war was lost. They were, he said, just trying to "keep it from totally collapsing" until they could "hand it off to the next guy."
For his part, on the night Mr. Bush announced the surge, Barack Obama said he was "not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq are going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse."
Three months after that, before the surge had even started, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pronounced the war in Iraq "lost." These and similar comments, moreover, were amplified by a media echo chamber even more absolute in its sense of hopelessness about Iraq and its contempt for the president. [emboldenings mine -ed.]
