EXCLUSIVE! BARACK OBAMA PAYS SURPRISE VISIT TO EGYPT !

(Now that I have your attention, go visit the recently discovered work of Chicago street photographer Vivian Maier. ) h/t @StreetPundit

Academe writes an open letter to Barack Obama, espousing Bush's policy in Egypt.

Seems the policy choices Mr. Barack Hussein Obama chose firstly weren't to the liking of Noam Chomsky et al. Read the thing; it's exactly what George Bush and his group were promoting for years; the peaceful replacement of Arab strongmen with democracies. George Bush, in November 2003...
"Are the peoples of the Middle East somehow beyond the reach of liberty? Are millions of men and women and children condemned by history or culture to live in despotism? Are they alone never to know freedom and never even to have a choice in the matter?"
The third paragraph of this letter troubles me mostly...
There is another lesson from this crisis, a lesson not for the Egyptian government but for our own. In order for the United States to stand with the Egyptian people it must approach Egypt through a framework of shared values and hopes, not the prism of geostrategy. On Friday you rightly said that “suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away.” For that reason we urge your administration to seize this chance, turn away from the policies that brought us here, and embark on a new course toward peace, democracy and prosperity for the people of the Middle East. And we call on you to undertake a comprehensive review of US foreign policy on the major grievances voiced by the democratic opposition in Egypt and all other societies of the region.
Loosely translated:

"We’ve got to stop being so high-horsed like we’ve been since the end of WWII and encourage WHATEVER form of government decides to coalesce, even if said government is anathema to OUR economic well-being and (scoff!) Israel's existence, because for too many years we’ve caused brown people to SUFFER! just because we are so inconsiderate. Oh, and Israel and Herzl be damned for causing all these problems. OH, and be sure to remember to speak well of Mohammed (PBUH)."

You're welcome.

Speaking of Israel, Haaretz is harsh...
Obama will go down in history as the president who lost Egypt ...

The superficial circumstances are similar. In both cases, a United States in financial crisis and after failed wars loses global influence under a leftist president whose good intentions are interpreted abroad as expressions of weakness. The results are reflected in the fall of regimes that were dependent on their relationship with Washington for survival, or in a change in their orientation, as with Ankara.

America’s general weakness clearly affects its friends. But unlike Carter, who preached human rights even when it hurt allies, Obama sat on the fence and exercised caution. He neither embraced despised leaders nor evangelized for political freedom, for fear of undermining stability.

Ayn Rand Answered Critics on Welfare and Assorted Other Dirty Socialist Handouts

Dirty Socialists are flocking to criticise Ayn Rand for taking monies for cancer treatment from Medicare (see this comment left by Dr. William Yelverton, Professor of Air Guitar, MTSU). Ayn Rand wrote the following in “The Question of Scholarships,” The Objectivist, June 1966...

"The recipient of a public scholarship is morally justified only so long as he regards it as restitution and opposes all forms of welfare statism. Those who advocate public scholarships, have no right to them; those who oppose them, have. If this sounds like a paradox, the fault lies in the moral contradictions of welfare statism, not in its victims.

"The same moral principles and considerations apply to the issue of accepting social security, unemployment insurance or other payments of that kind. It is obvious, in such cases, that a man receives his own money which was taken from him by force, directly and specifically, without his consent, against his own choice. Those who advocated such laws are morally guilty, since they assumed the “right” to force employers and unwilling co-workers. But the victims, who opposed such laws, have a clear right to any refund of their own money—and they would not advance the cause of freedom if they left their money, unclaimed, for the benefit of the welfare-state administration."

Ayn Rand availed herself of what she put into the system. Granted, she did so under her married name; that seems slightly off kilter. Maybe she couldn't find her birth certificate.

And for creating the character Ellsworth Toohey, after whom all the far-Leftists alive today are modeled (An octopus, all tentacles and no brain.), she gets a break AFAIC.

My obligatory "So Long, Jeff Fisher, we'll miss you" post.

Jeff Fisher is out as the Titans head coach; with a 16 year tenure, the longest in current NFL history. Gone, after a late-January surprise 'firing' by mutual agreement, or so it seems: a mutual agreement. Eight million dollars of Bud Adam's walking-around money to not coach the Titans in 2011.

Bud Adams remains as Titans' owner, unfortunately.

Hmmmph. If the Titans win three games in the next two seasons, I'll be amazed. We're sitting here, fat, dumb and unhappy, with no head coach, no starting QB (at least the Titans' Front Office has decided NOT to bring back the brain-damaged Vince Young) and a seemingly demoralized fan base. Mike Munchak, the OL coach, is spoken of as the front-runner; but I hear tantalizing rumors that Jon Gruden might be considered. That would be my choice; I like Gruden.

I expect Fish to sit out the 2011 season, take a break, maybe do some fishing with Brett Favre. Then, if there is actually a 2011 season, next January there will again be many head coach firings and vacancies; Jeff Fisher will be the top-listed favorite replacement by many teams. Redskins' owner Daniel Snyder would open his deep pockets; as would Dallas' Jerry Jones. There might be a duel between those two to get first bids.

Or, if the Chargers move to Los Angeles, Fisher would be a natural to take that coaching position. That would put him close to home, to USC, his old stomping grounds.

Fisher at Vanderbilt, with the Tennessee Oilers

In any event, we'll keep track of Jeff Fisher.

As for the Titans, it's cellar-dweller time in the AFC South.

So, Baracky, with Egypt likely lost to Muzzie fundies, the Suez Canal in jeopardy, oil and gasoline going ⇈⇈, does "DRILL BABY DRILL" finally sink into your thick skull ?

It's been termed the 'falling of the wall' in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan...countries we've supported in the Middle East. Iran is already expressing 'deep satisfaction', and expectations that hardline Muslim leaders can make inroads. Barack Obama can't seem to get in front of it. Joe Biden, sent out as a talking head, speaks counter to Obama AND American interests (who knew?).

The bottom line is that oil prices have surged to over $100/bbl; if the Suez Canal is lost, baby you've got problems. You likely can't afford $6, $8, $10, $20/gallon gas prices, can you?

Sarah Palin faces down Joe Biden in 2008
Sarah Palin, in 2008...
"The chant is 'drill, baby, drill.' And that's what we hear all across this country in our rallies because people are so hungry for those domestic sources of energy to be tapped into."
All across the country people agreed with Sarah Palin, except of course for smarmy ideological leftists who would rather see our nation and way of life succumb and disappear forever before they relent on their beliefs.

Let's see how the moochers react when gas hits 8 bucks a gallon. 'Pump my free gas, bitches!', indeed.

Fuck 'em all, these leftists.

DRILL, BABY, DRILL! But it's a bit late for that. We'll likely suffer mightily before BHO and his ilk realize their mistakes.

Sarah Palin speaks to Obama's WTF SOTU

"There are a lot of WTF moments throughout that speech."

Obama's "SPUTNIK MOMENT" : "I can see SPUTNIK from the WHITE HOUSE!"

From Obama's visit to G.E. with Immelt.

No wonder BHO was dreaming of Sputnik, speaking strangely of it during his SOTU Infomercial; he had faced the future on Friday, and saw it fading away, over the horizon, forever lost to Asia.

Original caption:
President Barack Obama stands in front of a generator as he visits the birthplace of the General Electric Co., to showcase a new GE deal with Kuwait and to announce a restructured presidential advisory board to be led by GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt, Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, in Schenectady, N.Y.

Friday Photo: It's good to be home.

(Whaddya mean, it's not Friday? Haven't I missed a couple three dozen or so? )

On Barack Obama's SOTU Infomercial

Boring. BHO's hand motions were effeminate. NTTAWWT.

This was no repeat of the Tucson speech. Who will remember even a line of it, in six months?

If Obama really wants to improve government, he'll force-shrink it. Shrink it considerably, to the level of pain to government-employed bureaucrats, many of whom need to be turned out to street level.

And if Obama were serious about downsizing government, he would work to kill the SEIU. Why should government employees be allowed to unionize, anyway? There's no need for it; the SEIU's purpose is to ensure that Democrats have control of all levels of government, of the bureaucracy, since all Union leadership and many Union members are Democrats. Even if individual SEIU members were not Democrats, they are still forced to give their union dues to Democrats. So, kill the SEIU, restore hard work to government.

Will Obama's core support team of Democrat Congessperps who are lawyers first allow any real tort reform? Fat chance. Democrats had a chance to add that to the 2700 pages of health care legislation they rammed down our throats, but didn't. That was tossed out there as a throwaway remark, to be quickly forgotten. As was the majority of this speech.

Loved how the Chiefs of Staff stood stoically, without expression. No gaiety there.

There was absolutely no mention of gun control. Goes to show that even Democrats can be trained.

Best part of watching this speech? Not seeing Nancy Pelosi bobbing and swooning on Obama's backside.

Afterward, ABC was quickly swooning over the mingling and the 'atmosphere'. As if any of these elected guys and gals won't be back at each other's throats in less than a month. As they were during the previous years, when Democrats controlled both houses, and felt a need for comity was unnecessary. Lose an election, now they want to play nice, huh? Heh.

Obama's picked up a few points in the polls (the 'Jared Bounce') but that'll level off soon enough. We're in for a long, hot summer, if this new Congress does as we've told them to do.

Oh, speaking of the new Congress, it seems that there is an adult in Washington!

Who knew?

State of the Union: Obama will fake a shift to center, MSM first to fall for it.

From American Thinker Steve McCann...

Obama Fakes Right

The country will be treated to yet another orgasmic reaction by the once-mainstream media upon the conclusion of President Obama's State of the Union speech. On the right, pundits such as Peggy Noonan are swooning once again and offering advice to the president on how to follow in the footsteps of Bill Clinton and move to the right with facile rhetoric and symbolic actions.

The majority of the current Ruling Class will fall prey to the Obama cult of personality, as they will measure success not by what he does, but by how he says almost anything. The media elites, living in a fantasy world wherein they choose which history will be repeated, will in fact move heaven and earth to assure that Obama will be reelected as was Bill Clinton in 1996.
Is history doomed to repeat itself? Maybe not, at least not for the same reasons Dirty Bill Clinton won re-election.

For one, the economy is still (and likely will still be) in the crapper.

We in business are still firmly asking, 'WHO IS JOHN GALT ?' because we know that Democrats are uncivil to businesses and to those who work hard to get ahead and move this country forward. Democrats see only two ways to get their ideologically-left-based agenda moved forward: to raise taxes and to spend more Other People's Money on programs and entitlements that assure them the Moocher votes they need to stay in power.

Add to the mix heinous regulations and unthinking policies that makes Democrats 'feel good' about helping the 'environment' and 'cooling' the globe. The only thing that excessive regulations will 'cool' is our economy; already as close to death as Deadfish Rham Emanuel's chances to become Emperor of Chicago.

Expect BHO to use the Tucson madman's shootings to utmost advantage. He'll milk that for every ounce of Democrat Agenda he can, speaking to new Gun Control, against 'vitriolic' speech; he'll urge implementation of 'civility' as a form of censorship. Can't let this event go to waste.

The Tucson shootings were the best event to happen to Obama's Presidency this year, bar none; it was the 'Oklahoma City Bombing' event that the Democrats needed to get their withered agenda back on track. And they will ride it until it doesn't ride anymore.

Did you notice that Gabrielle Giffords' husband refused an invitation to sit in with Democrats at the SOtU speech tonight? I think that man knows he was slated to be used as a pawn, and declined. A shame the rest of those invited and who accepted didn't realize their roles; or, more likely, they gladly embraced them, partisan as they are.

Why no SOtU invite for hyperpartisan Eric 'You're DEAD!' Fuller, Democrats? Seems Barack Obama could really do some good if he could persuade the likes of Eric Fuller to drop his invective vitriolic beliefs, to become more 'civil'. Why not make Eric Fuller the new poster child for a remarkable turnaround, a vaccine against vitriol so to speak, for 'civility'? Give Fuller some hands-on treatment, to persuade him to place nice. Give him a 'Civility Shot'.

If it works on Fuller, then they can give it to Markos Moulitsas, Arianna Huffington, Eric Boehlert at Media Matters...some of the worst, most uncivil ideologue offenders; all tools of the Left.

But to throttle back the Left is not the reason we have this newly minted 'Push for Civility'. That's only created for control of the Tea Party, the Conservatives, any who oppose the favored ideology of the Left. Any other use is contraindicated.

Team Obama: What Do You See ?

Leftists see "Team Obama, PUMPED!".

My take: I see a group of leftists plotting a ‘pretend’ shift to Centrism, forced to embrace those hated businesses, industries and the ‘evils’ of Capitalism, but behind the façade I see the cold, twisted, gnarled limbs of their barely-constrained Socialist ideals that are imprinted on their ’souls’, comprising their true roots and beliefs.

Next time, pull the shades.

Obama can do this pretend “I’m a newfound Centrist!” dance all he wants. What’s going to expose him for the lying liar he is will be his reactions to (hopefully very strong) opposition given by the opposing party (I’m hating to even type 'Republicans' nowadays; they representing the ‘losing more slowly and liking it’ party).

We’ve got to keep hot blue-flame under the backsides of these (R) Reps and Senators, or they’ll all be in a Washington love-fest with ‘centrists’ and we’ll be no better off than we were before November.

We need the Tea Party more than ever.

Don't give an inch, period.

S'long, Olberdouche. h/t Tammy Bruce...

"MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract," reads a statement. "The last broadcast of Countdown with Keith Olbermann will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

Heh. Good riddance to a POS leftist.

Dr. Kermit Scissorshands

Democrats won't care, obviously. Dr. Kermit Gosnell was just off by a minute or so. What's the difference, when all that matters is that the thing is dead ?
WEST PHILADELPHIA – January 19, 2011 (WPVI) — A doctor whose abortion clinic was described as a filthy, foul-smelling “house of horrors” that was overlooked by regulators for years was charged Wednesday with murder, accused of delivering seven babies alive and then using scissors to kill them.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell was also charged with murder in the death of a woman who suffered an overdose of painkillers while awaiting an abortion.

In a nearly 300-page grand jury report filled with ghastly, stomach-turning detail, prosecutors said Pennsylvania regulators ignored complaints of barbaric conditions at Gosnell’s clinic, which catered to poor, immigrant and minority women in the city’s impoverished West Philadelphia section.

Prosecutors called the case a “complete regulatory collapse.” “Pennsylvania is not a Third World country,” the district attorney’s office declared in the report. “There were several oversight agencies that stumbled upon and should have shut down Kermit Gosnell long ago.”

Who cares if the thing was born already?

Results, baby. We achieve results.

What's that in your eyes, Barack ?

Repeat after me...
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
Now get M'chelle to tuck you in. You've had a hard day.

Poor thing.

Hu Chow Mein

~*~

What to do if China's Hu decides to get more naasty?
China is officially the United States' biggest foreign creditor, with roughly $900 billion in Treasury holdings -- or over $1 trillion with Hong Kong's holdings included.

That means it could do severe damage to U.S. debt markets if it suddenly started selling large amounts.

Most experts say if there were signs of this happening, the U.S. government would go for a combination of persuading Americans to buy more U.S. debt, the same way they did in World War II, and finding friendly foreign governments to make additional purchases.

Banks could be called on to increase their holdings of treasuries, and as a last resort, the Federal Reserve could also be called on to fill the gap, though this could risk turning any dollar weakness into a slump.

"The U.S. government should have and maybe still could call on the people of the U.S. to invest in U.S. debt," said David Walker, a former U.S. comptroller general who heads an advocacy group calling on the government to curb the U.S. budget deficit and borrowings.
Laughable. Buying debt with monies that exist only in the eyes of the debtors.

Sounds like a financial game to me. One that would get ordinary traders locked away for long periods of time.

We will have to default on our debts, at which time TSHTF.

Unions force Camden NJ to lay off Police, Firefighters, other public sector workers.

If there's no money, there's no money. Something had to snap...
Talks with the police union stalled weeks ago, and a meeting between the firefighters union and city attorney Marc Riondino Friday didn't go anywhere.

"At one point we asked them if there was anything we could do to stop the layoffs. One of them said, 'yeah, give us half your salary,'" said Al Ashley, president of the the fire department officers' union.

The mayor's office remained hesitant in saying what effect $5.5 million in payments from the state and the South Jersey Port Corporation would have on the layoffs and whether that money would be used if the police and firefighters' unions didn't agree to wage reductions.

"Everything we do has to be approved by the state," said Robert Corrales, the mayor's spokesman.

For longtime residents, who have watched the city change over the last half-century from a bustling manufacturing center to one of the nation's most- dangerous cities, the pending loss of almost half the city's police force felt like the beginning of the end.
So, go sit at home and think long and hard about supporting Unions. And Democrats.

And let's hope Camden NJ doesn't become any worse than it already is.

Do ordinary people have the right to arm themselves? NO! Not in New Jersey. Democrats said they would 'protect' the citizens. No need to have guns.

How's that working out for you now?

Berlusconi's Gals

Being the Premier of Italy certainly has it's positives, it seems.

Some are attacking.

Me, I'm just drooling. NTTAWWT.

Sarah Palin defends 'Blood Libel' remarks.

"Shut UP!" says the Left, in an obvious effort to control the narrative to their own ends.

"Fuck YOU!" I say. "Sideways, with a Swordfish". Sarah Palin is a bit more generous than I am. A lovely lady, really.

(I note that Sarah mentions the WaPo editorial - op-ed crafted on the Monday prior by Glenn Reynolds (Sarah's statement came out last Wednesday); not however mentioning Instapundit by name. Good for Sarah! Don't pander to any blogger, left or right. Glenn gets much pandering from many, too much butt-kissing for his own good IHMO.)

Medical Marijuana

Just what we need, more teenagers hooked on dope...

Medical pot laws result in increased teen drug use

WHITE MOUNTAINS - Experts in Colorado are starting to study the impact medical marijuana has had on teen drug use in their state. Medical marijuana sales are scheduled to begin in April in Arizona. Fifteen states and the District of Columbia now have medical-marijuana programs.

Two recently released national surveys, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the University of Michigan's Monitoring the Future data have shown increases in teen marijuana use, marked by a decreased perception of harm in the drug.

"The basic rule with any drug is if the drug becomes more available in the society, there will be more use of the drug," said Thomas Crowley, a University of Colorado psychiatry professor and director of the university's Division of Substance Dependence. "And as use expands, there will be more people who have problems with the drug."

In Colorado treatment centers, clinicians are treating more and more teens for marijuana addiction since the state legalized marijuana for medicinal use. At the Denver Health Medical Center, treatment referrals have tripled with 83 percent of the teens that smoke pot daily saying they obtained it from a medical marijuana patient.

Emails from the Wasteland # 33: Proposed 28th Amendment to the Constitution

In my inbox. I like it, very much.
Congressional Reform Act of 2011
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971... before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.
  • A. Two Six-year Senate terms
  • B. Six Two-year House terms
  • C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
2. No Tenure / No Pension.
  • A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
  • All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.
4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11. (will have to pro-rate current plans since those currently serving may have no independent retirement plan-Norm) The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.

Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!! If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.
Yes, we should eliminate the royalist attitude that these Congressperps give themselves. They ARE NOT ROYALTY, PERIOD AND DAMMIT.

WOW! Charles M. Blow writes a scathing rebuke of Democrats.

My Gawd, Charles M. Blow’s written this at the NYT
Immediately after the news broke, the air became thick with conjecture, speculation and innuendo. There was a giddy, almost punch-drunk excitement on the left. The prophecy had been fulfilled: “words have consequences.” And now, the right’s rhetorical chickens had finally come home to roost.

The dots were too close and the temptation to connect them too strong. The target was a Democratic congresswoman. There was the map of her district in the cross hairs. There were her own prescient worries about overheated rhetoric.

Within hours of the shooting, there was a full-fledged witch hunt to link the shooter to the right. …

Great. So the left overreacts and overreaches and it only accomplishes two things: fostering sympathy for its opponents and nurturing a false equivalence within the body politic. Well done, Democrats.

Now we’ve settled into the by-any-means-necessary argument: anything that gets us to focus on the rhetoric and tamp it down is a good thing. But a wrong in the service of righteousness is no less wrong, no less corrosive, no less a menace to the very righteousness it’s meant to support.

You can’t claim the higher ground in a pit of quicksand.

Concocting connections to advance an argument actually weakens it. The argument for tonal moderation has been done a tremendous disservice by those who sought to score political points in the absence of proof.
Not helpful, Chas. Someone might require you attend a remedial Democrat Talking Points session. Expect it to be closed-door.

UPDATE
This, spotted at Don Surber's, fits well with Charles M. Blow's surprising moment of lucidity.

Sarah Palin Death Tweeters: Video. Oh, HI!, Lauren Bendik !

I posted earlier in the week some of the Sarah Palin Death Tweeters' screenshots, but didn't post the video because it was already put on 'death watch' by YouTube (they don't have the stomach to go against anyone who complains of their 'right to privacy to threaten death to a Republican', even when it's publicly posted on Twitter). Legal Insurrection uploaded the video (hundreds of others who watched it had downloaded the original; myself included, as this will remain as good evidence of the thinking of the always-tolerant Left).

This video was taken down by YouTube because one of the Sarah Palin Death Tweeters, @RedHeadonFire2, who is young University of the Pacific psych major Lauren Bendik (photo here), complained as a YouTube member that her 'privacy rights' were violated. Well, that was the wrong thing to do, Lauren. Should've just shut up and taken your medicine, learned your lesson. Now, she's named on FOX News and on dozens of web sites. A shame. You can thank Markos Moulitsas for leading you astray. Lay with the dogs, little one, you've eventually be scritching.

Palin Death Wish Tweets Re Tucson Shooting from Legal Insurrection on Vimeo.

Here's my screencap of Lauren Bendik's (AKA @RedHeadonFire2)'s tweet. I posted this to Twitpic, along with all the others, Jan. 11th...

Lauren Bendik, University of the Pacific Psych major

Oh, one more. A correction of sorts.

Another virulent lefty, Steve Patten, didn't make the cut when I posted some of my screenshots earlier. I mislabeled Adam Fine's screenshot tweet in my earlier post as 'Steve Patten'. This guy, Steve Patten, has KIDS! I wonder if he'll allow them to take his Tweet to 'Show n' Tell' ? "Look what Daddy did to get FAMOUS!"

This, my friends, is what makes up the Left, voters for Barack Obama, who now wants us all to Shut Up. The oh-so tolerant Left.

Give 'em hugs, really.

BHO's Arizona Pep Rally and Memorial: A "Wellstonian Event", with a Circus-like Atmosphere

T-Shirts on the chairs, emblazoned with more HOPE and CHANGE-grade blather. Nice touch, don't you think?

A political pep rally where a Memorial service broke through. Somewhere in the background. If you looked hard enough, you could grasp that a Memorial Service was...nearby.
They gave the performance a title and handed out t-shirts.

Honestly.

They did.

Nuance.
Tammy Bruce is on fire...
I can hear it now! “Oh Tammy, why so political!? How awful of you!!” of course, with a death threat thrown in and some crass misogynistic swear words from the Gestapo of Love and Unity for Everyone Except Some. For people shocked, just shocked at how I’m not being more ‘compassionate’ and genteel about this “event. Well, let me explain–Upon hearing the awful news Saturday morning, within an hour–even before we knew the number of dead–Barack Obama’s gestapos moved in for the kill–the Kill of Palin and the Kill of Conservatives in this country. For 5 days Tea Party, conservative and Sarah Palin were blamed for murder. I spent the weekend, as did so many others, not being allowed to grieve but having to listen to crass political smears and libel, while defending those falsely accused of horrific complicity.

Democrat and Republican leadership sat silent, including Barack Obama, as this nation was stomped on by grotesque beasts using the dead and maimed in an attempt to add a 20th victim–Sarah Palin–to the body count. Obama may have been silent and he could be–his gestapos were doing all the work. His machine knew what to do and they moved quickly. Their Massacre Cult chose their targets and went hunting, accusing innocents of the horror of being an accessory to murder to score political points.

So don’t wonder why I’m calling the charade tonight a charade. Despite all of us being faced with the ugliness of the liberal response, we also spent the last 5 days praying for the victims and being concerned for our nation. You will also see my concern in refusing to silently acquiesce or in faux praise for one of the most bizarre displays of manipulation of a tragedy I’ve ever seen. Was the speech good? I suppose considering what we’ve been put through this weekend by the very same people, reading the phone book would have moved some people to tears. If you lurved the speech, then let’s make the speechwriter president!
In today's New York Times, Gail Collins doesn't waste a minute before launching into Democrat talking points, pushing Gun Control. She even expresses hope that the EVIL Republicans would give up on reversing ObamaCare, for the sake of...what?

Not the Republic, that's for sure.

Forget it, Gail, Leftys, Dems; we're tired of giving ground to you wide-eyed children. Grow up and face the deficit. -

Sarah Palin calls MSM's reaction to AZ Shootings: it's 'Blood Libel'. Oh, bonus! Sarah Palin Death-Tweeters!

Sarah Palin pushes back against the hateful Left.

From an accompanying Facebook essay...
Like millions of Americans I learned of the tragic events in Arizona on Saturday, and my heart broke for the innocent victims. No words can fill the hole left by the death of an innocent, but we do mourn for the victims’ families as we express our sympathy.

I agree with the sentiments shared yesterday at the beautiful Catholic mass held in honor of the victims. The mass will hopefully help begin a healing process for the families touched by this tragedy and for our country.

Our exceptional nation, so vibrant with ideas and the passionate exchange and debate of ideas, is a light to the rest of the world. Congresswoman Giffords and her constituents were exercising their right to exchange ideas that day, to celebrate our Republic’s core values and peacefully assemble to petition our government. It’s inexcusable and incomprehensible why a single evil man took the lives of peaceful citizens that day. ...

Let us honor those precious lives cut short in Tucson by praying for them and their families and by cherishing their memories. Let us pray for the full recovery of the wounded. And let us pray for our country. In times like this we need God’s guidance and the peace He provides. We need strength to not let the random acts of a criminal turn us against ourselves, or weaken our solid foundation, or provide a pretext to stifle debate.

America must be stronger than the evil we saw displayed last week. We are better than the mindless finger-pointing we endured in the wake of the tragedy. We will come out of this stronger and more united in our desire to peacefully engage in the great debates of our time, to respectfully embrace our differences in a positive manner, and to unite in the knowledge that, though our ideas may be different, we must all strive for a better future for our country. May God bless America.

- Sarah Palin

Of course University of Tennessee Law professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds was first to note the Left's rush to blood libel, in this Wall Street Journal editorial dated Monday. He wrote thusly...
With only the barest outline of events available, pundits and reporters seemed to agree that the massacre had to be the fault of the tea party movement in general, and of Sarah Palin in particular. Why? Because they had created, in New York Times columnist Paul Krugman's words, a "climate of hate." ...

To be clear, if you're using this event to criticize the "rhetoric" of Mrs. Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you're either: (a) asserting a connection between the "rhetoric" and the shooting, which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie; or (b) you're not, in which case you're just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. Which is it?

I understand the desperation that Democrats must feel after taking a historic beating in the midterm elections and seeing the popularity of ObamaCare plummet while voters flee the party in droves. But those who purport to care about the health of our political community demonstrate precious little actual concern for America's political well-being when they seize on any pretext, however flimsy, to call their political opponents accomplices to murder.

Where is the decency in that?
Markos Moulitsas, of Daily KOS infamy, was the very first out of the gate, spurring on his foul minions to hate-speak against Sarah Palin. But by no means was his Twitter response unique. Seems some of his flock has moved to death threats and death wishes.

There was a video posted (as Preston Taylor Holmes of 6MB puts it, "The Diseased Heart of the Left") that captured the 'tweets' of some of the worst Sarah Palin haters; some wishing her death by shooting, others wishing her to die slowly and torturously of cancers and whatever. The video was yanked down by YouTube, but I captured some of those tweets for the posterity of the thing. More of the scurrilous scumsuckers than I want to post here, but the worst offenders need the light shined on them, so as the cockroaches they are they can scurry for cover. A shame their mothers can't wash their foul mouths out with soap.

Edna Garrett, you're too old-looking to behave like this! Train-stopping, that face.

Jen Bobbi (Jennifer Lee) (doing the bobbi on Markos Moulitsas, likely)

JennLowry (Jennifer Lowry) What's up with these crazy sluts named 'Jennifer' ?

tamytoo2 (Tamara Boyd, from California) A not-so-little piece of non-work.

Oh, my. Inside the loony bin: Jared Lee Loughner at ATS (Above Top Secret dot com)

Aliens and UFO's. Conspiracy theories. 9/11 Conspiracies. Paranormal Studies. Conspiracies in Religion. New World Order. Secret Societies. Global Meltdown. These are just some of the topics found on their home page.

And this...

A look inside the mind of erad3 (most-likely Jared Loughner)

We here at AboveTopSecret.com, our owners, staff, and membership find ourselves in the unfortunate position of apparently being one of the largest (if not the largest) repositories of online postings by someone who has been classified as a "monster" (among other things) due to his (accused) actions of two days ago. Online research that began on Reddit, and continued here on ATS has resulted in an overwhelming amount of anecdotal evidence to support the notion that the "erad3" member account here is Jared Loughner. Indeed, the content found in more than 4,000 Google search returns (including some pages in the mainstream press) have drawn the same conclusion.

This is a rather unique situation, to say the least. I and our staff have been considering if we should provide a public statement, and if we do, what should we say? Especially since we're already being contacted by the media for comment and more information. ...

Funny thing is, Loughner was too weird for even these mental midgets.

Reading down in the comments, I find this...
One must be reeaaaallly loony to not fit in somewhere within the ATS community.
Yep.

And this...
Yesterday they were hunting Palin, today it's conspiracy theorists and the creepy people who follow 2010 prophecies. I do worry that this could be the beginning of the end for sites like ATS.
Who's doing the hunting, I ask?

Oh.

How America's elite hijacked a massacre to take revenge on Sarah Palin

The rush to make political capital out of a mass shooting shows just how nasty U.S. politics has become. Under Barack Obama, America is more polarised than it has been for 40 years.
There you go. We are polarized Right to save this Republic. They are polarized Left to CHANGE this Republic.

I stand with the rule of law and the Constitution, not with those who seek to EuroSocialize us out of existence by using the Looter - Moocher symbiosis at the ballot box; Democrats attract voters with promises of Other People's Money.

TANSTAAFL. We can't have a free Republic AND give away monies from the Treasury, as Democrats (and some 'pragmatic' Republicans who join with them) would do, just to stay in power. That's been my theme here for as I've run this blog. That, and pointing at and ridiculing agents of the Left as I see fit. No apologies from me.

TRIGGER ALERT! VITRIOLIC POLITICAL RHETORIC!

Let's look at this creature of opportunity, Pima County Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik. Right after a 9-y/o child, a Republican Federal Judge and others were killed in Tucson by obvious headcase Jared Lee Loughner, a proven, demonstrable left-winger, this Democrat turd Dupnik comes floating to the top, loudly proclaiming to anyone who would listen that 'vitriolic political rhetoric' caused this crime.

Oh, really, Sheriff? Why didn't you speak of the two arrests and releases your Department made of this disturbed kid? Why was he handled with 'kid gloves' by your department, coddled so well that his record was expunged, allowing him to purchase a gun? Because some of his family works is politically connected, that's why. There's 'insider trading' going on in your Sheriff's Department, and you needed to divert attention with a red herring...
Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability.

Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.

This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on getting his 15 minutes of infamy. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.
Sheriff Dupnik immediately comes out with these unsubstantiated, unfounded bullshit statements to cover up his Department's incompetence. Watch for it; this Sheriff will find himself on the hot seat before this is over...
"The sheriff is supposed to investigate, not pontificate," Brad Blakeman, former assistant to President George W. Bush told Fox News on Monday. "This guy should be fired."
Exactly. He needs to shut his fat face and do his damned job. Since it's too late for that, he needs to be investigated and fired.

Why, other than covering up for his own shortcomings, does Dupnik get on a soapbox and run his mouth? Because his Democrat friends are getting beat, and badly. He can't stand it. So, when this terrible crime, perpetrated by a crazy man whom he had a chance to stop goes down, he leads the way in an effort to 'prop up' the Democrat's favored agendas. This incident is just what Democrats wanted, and needed. After getting their asses soundly shellacked in November, they had to have an "Oklahoma City" moment to seize, for to immediately and opportunistically ramp up their own rhetoric, to forward their stalled agendas. First, Dupnik's attack on the opposition's 'violent political rhetoric', to ease the attacks on his poor, losing-the-debate Democrat friends. Next, the attack on guns, a favorite whipping boy of the Left.

OH, speaking of the Left jumping on this madman's crime to push for Gun Control, this unsigned editorial in today's New York Times...

An Assault on Everyone’s Safety

The Glock 19 is a semiautomatic pistol so reliable that it is used by thousands of law enforcement agencies around the world, including the New York Police Department, to protect the police and the public. On Saturday, in Tucson, it became an instrument of carnage for two preventable reasons: It had an oversize ammunition clip that was once restricted by federal law and still should be; and it was fired by a disturbed man who should never have been able to purchase it legally.
Speak to your friend and protector Sheriff Dupnik about the 'disturbed man who should not have been able to purchase it legally', Editorialist. I'm sure you've plenty in common; your discussions would be filled with sweetness and light. But, there's one problem...

Editorialist, you use the word 'assault' in your headline. Didn't you get Dupnik's memo? This sort of hate-filled language leads to these political killings! You must tone down your rhetoric for the safety of the American people! We must therefore check your sanity before allowing you further access to a word processor! You, and all of the rest of the NYT staff must undergo 'language sensitivity training', to make sure a psychotic individual doesn't get 'set off' by your poorly-chosen 'trigger' words!

And, we must limit the number of words your editorial contains. I'm thinking 140 characters is plenty enough to express your thoughts. Do you really need any more?

"BUSH BAD! GUNS BAD! OBAMACARE GOOD! THATISALL!"

There you go. Your next editorial, properly cleansed and limited to less than 140 characters.

You're welcome.

Jared Lee Loughner's Skull Shrine

From the NY Daily News...
A sinister shrine reveals a chilling occult dimension in the mind of the deranged gunman accused of shooting a member of Congress and 19 others.

Hidden within a camouflage tent behind Jared Lee Loughner's home sits an alarming altar with a skull sitting atop a pot filled with shriveled oranges.

A row of ceremonial candles and a bag of potting soil lay nearby, photos reveal.

Experts on Sunday said the elements are featured in the ceremonies of a number of occult groups.

Investigators have focused on Loughner's online anti-government ramblings as the chief motivation for the shooting Saturday of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).

The discovery of the shrine raises the possibility that Loughner, 22, may have been driven by other forces.
NOOOOO! Can't be; these Leftists (Krugman &c.) have placed a lot of political capital in the framing of this tragedy as being caused by those on the Right. Can't let the air out of their blow-up dolls this soon!

In that vein, we have to look at the Left. This skull crap means the guy wasn't an EVIL WHITE CHRISTIANIST, but a Democrat; outreaching to and embracing TEH OTHER religions and beliefs, as Democrats are so fond of doing.

The Daily KOS banner added to the photo to draw attention to the proper perspective. You'd much sooner find that altar being worshiped there than at FOX News-breathing outlets, right ?

New York Times', Paul Krugman's, Blood Libel

Nice blood libel you frame here, Dr. Krugman. In less than 3 paragraphs you place this nutcase on the right, and blame right-wing 'extremists' for his craziness. You do realize that this man voted for Barack Obama, don't you?

"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun" - Barack Obama, 6/14/2008.

Jared Lee Loughner listened to whom? Not to Sarah Palin, or 'right-wing extremists'; Loughner was a lefty who likely hated Sarah Palin and I doubt he listened to any right-wing pundits on radio or TV. Maybe Jared Lee Loughner listened to Barack Obama, and pushed back against a decidedly blue-dog Democrat? Maybe he reads Markos Moulitsas (proprietor of the far-Left blog Daily KOS, a prominent Democrat site that has hosted diaries written by Democrat politicians, and yes, even Keith Olbermann)?

Daily KOS had a diarist's post up two days before the shootings, since scrubbed, stating that Ms. Gifford was 'dead to me'. More likely that a 22-y/o was attracted to Daily KOS than to the 'old men' in the party of FOX.

Professor Glenn Reynolds asks this:
"To be clear, if you're using this event to criticize the "rhetoric" of Mrs. Which is it?"
From what I read here, Dr. Krugman, and from many other far-left news organizations and web sites, I see no reason to have any reaction other than contempt.

Barack Obama: "bring a gun". Jared Lee Loughner listened to whom ?

Makes as much sense as the Left's
targeting of Sarah Palin in this senseless tragedy,
doesn't it ?
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun" - Barack Obama, 6/14/2008 Jared Lee Loughner listened to whom ? Not to Sarah Palin; Loughner was a lefty who likely hated Sarah Palin.

But he listened to his President, obviously.

40% of Scientists Doubt AGW (Manmade Global Warming).

And 75% of Americans know Al Gore is an idiot; most won't come out and say it, but deep in their beings they realize that...Al Gore is, and always has been, an IDIOT.

From the National Association of Scholars...

Estimated 40 Percent of Scientists Doubt Manmade Global Warming

January 03, 2011
PRINCETON, NJ (January 3, 2011)—S. Fred Singer said in an interview with the National Association of Scholars (NAS) that “the number of skeptical qualified scientists has been growing steadily; I would guess it is about 40% now.”
Singer, a leading scientific skeptic of anthropocentric global warming (AGW), is an atmospheric physicist, and founder of the Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP), an organization that began challenging the published findings of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the 1990s. SEPP established the Leipzig Declaration, a statement of dissent from the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that has been signed by over one hundred scientists and meteorologists.
Asked what he would like to see happen in regard to public opinion and policy on climate change, Singer replied,
I would like to see the public look upon global warming as just another scientific controversy and oppose any public policies until the major issues are settled, such as the cause. If mostly natural, as NIPCC concludes, then the public policies currently discussed are pointless, hugely expensive, and wasteful of resources that could better be applied to real societal problems.
NIPCC is the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change, another group established by Singer. In 2009 NIPCC published Climate Change Reconsidered,an 880-page report on scientific research that contradicts the models of man-made global warming. Singer believes that global warming exists but that human contributions to it are minimal..In the interview Singer said he believed his efforts in the last twenty years had been successful in disproving the notion that “the science is settled.”
Of course, it was Al Gore who loudly proclaimed "the science is SETTLED! Give me my Nobel Peace Prize and the rest of you buy my Carbon Credits and STFU!"

He's just another John Edwards, without the legal degree.

John Edwards, that horrible (typical) Democrat Lawyer everyone despises is back in the news...

...engaged to Rielle Hunter.

Well, at lease he doesn't have Elizabeth around to hurt anymore.

Assange should've asked a simple question of his two now-accusatory femi-bimbos...

This inspired by Dr. Douglas' post featuring 'Bang and Blame' by R.E.M. (part of his ongoing series of posts sniping with the feminazia, including Maureen Tkacik and Sadly Doyle and that lardly lump of grease Michael Moore. Even arch-feminist Amanda (my cock is longer than yours!) Marcotte got involved. A miniseries I'd just as rather not have watched, because those sorts drive me to look at some women unfavorably. Ugly ducklings searching for a nest they'll never have.

But, R.E.M. One of my favorite '80's bands.

Hmmmph. 'Bang and Blame', that could be the descriptive theme song for Assange's two Girlfriends Friday.

Assange should've paid a professional for to service his relief; never turned to two lefty bimbos. Who could trust their sorts long enough to get one's pants off?

Anyways, I was reminded of R.E.M., so here's my favorite cut from Monster.

I'm looking for an interruption,
do you believe?
You looking to dig my dreams
Be prepared for anything
You come into my little scene
Hooray hooray hip hip hooray
There's one thing I can guarantee:
You won't have to dig, dig too deep

Said leave me to lay, but touch me deep,
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee, but you know what I really need

Are you looking to drive my dreams?
You here to run my screens?
You come, deliver my demons
Hooray hooray hip hip hooray
Are you coming to ease my headache?
Do you give good head?
Am I good in bed?

I don't know, I guess so
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee, but you know what I really need

I'm looking for an interruption,
can you believe?
Some medicine for my headache
Hooray hooray hip hip hooray
I'm pitching for a new direction
Pinch me when I wake
Don't tell me my dreams are fake
you leave me to lay, you touch me deep,
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee, but you know what I really need
Leave me to lay, but touch me deep,
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee, but you know what I really need
Looking for a satisfactory interruption, instead Assange finds an interrogation. Which is fine; Assange needs to answer for his hackery crimes. A damned shame the 'crimes' he was jailed for aren't exactly as important as the ones he should be shot for.

Don't tell me my dreams are fake

But the charges against him likely are.

Oh, the question he should've asked ? It's up there. See if you recognize it.

Speaker John Boehner: You're Welcome.

~*~

Barack Obama back in Washington... Hey, Republicans, Got Brakes ?

On Saturday, in his weekly Internet and radio address, Obama vowed to keep the economy growing and reminded Republicans taking over the House of Representatives of their "shared responsibility" to move the country forward.
I agree. That means opposing the 'Progressives' every chance they get, pushing for a new message that's based not on far-Left philosophy but on the original constructs that founded this Republic.

Mr. Obama, it's time for you (and the more 'agreeable' Republicans that you court) to have some real, feral opposition. The Tea Party provided a platform for a strong resurgence in November; they've pulled together the remnants of the soft, pliable Republican Party...remember the one the Left proclaimed would 'wander the desert' for 20 years? the Team R Party that's engineered losses since 2006? and don't think I don't agree that George Bush hurt us very much as he's never been known as a staunch Conservative.

We're opposed by both the new far-Left Social Democrat party, a party that's learned how to attract votes from moochers who hear the siren songs of 'free' health care and 'more' entitlements. Moocher voters  responded with their votes, their uneducated (the Constitution is OVER 100 years OLD!) votes for 'HOPE' and 'CHANGE' (the only words these weak men and women can understand, besides 'free' and 'redistributed wealth' and 'evil RICH!') and elected the likes of Barack Obama,  AND elected these RINO Republicans. The voters attracted to the philosophy of 'FREE LUNCH' are very close to voting out of existence the very nation that's given them opportunity unmatched anywhere else in this world; opportunity paid for by earlier generations who would look upon these new voters as moochers and would regard them with deep disdain.

BHO...
"It's time to make some serious decisions about how to keep our economy strong, growing, and competitive in the long run," he said.
I agree. Do that by opposing anything Mr. Obama supports. Defund the EPA. Gut ObamaCare. Curtail spending that's not matched by equal cuts.

Now, we must flex our political muscle to keep this Republic together. That means opposing both the neo-Social far-Left Democrats and the 'RINO' Republicans, the blue-bloods, the Bush - Dole - McCain wing that includes the Lobsterpot Bimbos in Maine, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, just to name a couple.
Now, more than ever, we need to become the party of "HELL, NO". Call it the Tea Party, the strong spine of the Republican party, if you please.

Jeff Fisher: Not Fired; Not Yet.

Two men gave their separate statements today; Bud Adams in Houston, after meeting with Steve Underwood and Mike Reinfeld, the two Front-Office staffers running the Titans organization; and Jeff Fisher, in a 23-minute press conference (video here). Both men say the same thing: no decision yet. But when the decision is made, Bud Adams will make it. The process is ongoing, it's a complex decision, and Bud'll get around to making it soon enough.

Damn, but I like Jeff Fisher. A good man. I hope he stands his ground, does what's best for himself this time. He's looking a bit old, in that video; bags under his eyes. This season has taken it's toll, it's been a drain on the man.

And sorry, but this is framed as Vince Young vs. Jeff Fisher. That's the way this is going down, and there's not a thing anyone can say that'll change that framing. Who framed it this way? Bud Adams hisself. Jeff Fisher is backed into a corner. It's up to Bud to choose, just as Fish and Bud both stated in their public statements.

If Vince (#6 Wonderlic) Young is allowed to dictate terms to Jeff, to try to 'get away' with the actions he's exhibited (his immature tantrums and outbursts, his lack of serious off-the-field game study and his lack of on-the-field leadership quality, and no, Vince, a 'tweet! I'm sorry' doesn't count amongst real men, you delusional twatwaffle), then attempting to go 'over Jeff's head' to 'ole Bud (Got Aricept?) Adams, to override his coach's decisions, then truly Jeff should leave. And be very glad he did. Right to the open wallet of Jerry Jones, who wouldn't waste a second making Fisher very much richer.

If that happens, what sort of coach who isn't a dreck or a n00b would come on board, knowing what's just gone down here?

Bud Adams is 88 years old; sure, he's Cherokee but he won't live forever. He wants to win a championship soon. He won't get that done by waiting a few more years to get a new coach stabilized. Especially the sort of coach who will come in here, knowing that VY is staying, and the limitations that will place on his ability to coach.

Bud should keep Fish. Sure, he's not had a run of winning seasons lately. There's been plenty of criticism brewing (fans are grumbling that he's a marginal 8-8 coach who hasn't won a playoff game in ages, who runs the ball first when he knows fans like to see air under the ball, he hasn't had a quality QB or WR or defense all together at once since 2000 and what's his incentive to change and open up an air attack unless he's fired and a new man brought aboard? We can has passes then ? )

But I don't think he will stay if Bud Adams thinks keeping Vince Young around would mean anything more to Houston fans and Houston Texas, whom Bud hates with passion and wants to needle every chance he gets. But Bud, sorry! they've moved on, your payback games aren't as useful as they once were. Get over it. Let Jeff Fisher do what's best for the Titans.

Keep Jeff Fisher. That is all.
