Inflation. Inflation. Inflation. MISERY INDEX!

Here it comes! In the coming months, prices are expected to go up to reflect the increased costs in raw materials and production. Fuel costs are one of the major expense components of all businesses (only eclipsed by Human Resources); gasoline, diesel, fuel oil is a commodity, plastics derived from crude oil are a commodity; oil prices aren't coming down any time soon, given there's no new drilling or refining going on in the U.S.A., thanks! Democrats for your insights and market knowledge. Barack Obama seems steadfastly committed to a hidden agenda of 'designed decline', where Americans will be forced to do as the left - progressive - liberals desire: to share our wealth, regardless of our own overall economic conditions.

When BHO spoke to 'sharing the wealth', he wasn't just thinking of CEOs and Wall Street fat-cats, the usual targets of the anti-capitalist, anti-free-market neo-socialists who now drive the bus for the Democratic party. He looks across America, sees the high standard of living all of our citizens enjoy, he feels the pulse of our economy that's driven by the great expectations of the average American living in the cities and 'burbs, and finds that very good indeed. But then he remembers that most of the people living in the rest of the world aren't so fortunate. A firm believer in 'equality of outcomes', Barack Obama and others of the LeftLibProgg persuasion want to see everyone, everywhere treated equally, and no one person or nation should have any more than the others (except of course, for themselves, but since they are 'elite', 'erudite', 'intelligentsia' and 'ruling class' they of course deserve more than the average Joe Plumber).

Now, here's an opportunity for to drive Americans down a notch or two. Inflation is the great equalizer; it hits every American, from the richest to the struggling middle class to the poor and those on fixed incomes. Of course the poor will be hit the hardest (well, they won't be 'poor' poor, like many third-worlders; they will likely keep their cell phones and LCD TV's); the middle class will make necessary cuts in their discretionary spending to still be able to purchase the necessities. The rich will see more targets placed on their backs: when Democrats see inflation, obviously they will 1) blame it on the EVIL RICH!, and 2) try to offer more free cheese to the poor and middle-class, to attract their votes. It's a gamble: will people still vote Democratic, when it's obvious that their policies of 'equal outcome' and their rejection of 'American exceptionalism' fueled this inflationary cycle? Didn't work out so well for Jimmy Carter in 1980; his 'misery index' pushed him right out the door to sit on the curb on his fat ass and ruminate. That's what I expect will happen in 2012, after a resurgent Tea Party gets busy.

That, or this nation CHANGES to not-America anymore. Which would be fine with the majority of the far-Left in this country, I'll warrant.

Bill Simon, CEO of Wal-Mart, speaks to his company's obvious success in arguments before the Supreme Court (testimony is going well against the plaintiffs, who seemed...weak from the start), then to inflation, and how Wal-Mart is positioning itself to stay profitable in the coming months (despite our Democratic overlords being still in charge).

Bill Simon's remarks on our coming 'misery', from USA Today...
U.S. consumers face "serious" inflation in the months ahead for clothing, food and other products, the head of Wal-Mart's U.S. operations warned Wednesday.

The world's largest retailer is working with suppliers to minimize the effect of cost increases and believes its low-cost business model will position it better than its competitors.

Still, inflation is "going to be serious," Wal-Mart U.S. CEO Bill Simon said during a meeting with USA TODAY's editorial board. "We're seeing cost increases starting to come through at a pretty rapid rate."

Along with steep increases in raw material costs, John Long, a retail strategist at Kurt Salmon, says labor costs in China and fuel costs for transportation are weighing heavily on retailers. He predicts prices will start increasing at all retailers in June.

"Every single retailer has and is paying more for the items they sell, and retailers will be passing some of these costs along," Long says. "Except for fuel costs, U.S. consumers haven't seen much in the way of inflation for almost a decade, so a broad-based increase in prices will be unprecedented in recent memory."
That'll wake up the sleepy Tea Party. Nothing like misery to bring on some much-needed political CHANGE. Maybe that gal who spoke "DRILL, BABY, DRILL!" won't seem so dumb anymore.

If we can just make it to 2012...

Tennessee Citizen Action starring Mary Mancini: Just another left-wing political advocacy group with ties to Voter Fraud.

Mary Mancini
An attack piece by Tennessee Citizen Action's Mary Mancini against the Tennessee Civil Justice Act of 2011. Mancini writes in the Nashville City Paper...
Gov. Bill Haslam’s “Tennessee Civil Justice Act of 2011” should be renamed the “Miscarriage of Justice Act of 2011.” Since 1977, the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act has protected Tennesseans and their families from fraudulent and abusive business practices. But now, because the country has entered into an era of blaming the hardworking people of Main Street for the economic fiasco caused by the fraudulent business practices of the large corporations and unregulated traders of Wall Street, dismantling it seems to have become a priority. Tennessee Citizen Action maintains that depleting the strength of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act is yet one more way of placing undeserved blame for our state’s economic stagnation on hardworking Tennesseans.
Haslam's act seeks to minimize the damage lawyers do to our economy, by limiting the awards to reasonable non-destructive levels. A good thing that has lawyers - and the Left - howling to the moon.

As if anyone didn't know it already, Tennessee Citizen Action is just another left-wing crackerjack organization set up to forward the agenda of dirty socialists in Tennessee.

Mary Mancini was a foul talk show host for the failed Liberadio (why is it that all these lefties can't seem to get people to listen to their crap on the radio? Remember Air America?). Before her time, in 2004, Tennessee Citizen (VOTER FRAUD!) Action hired a person to 'register the dead' to vote for Democrats in Davidson County...
State investigates Metro voter fraud

By Craig Boerner, cboerner@nashvillecitypaper.com
September 28, 2004

About 200 "citizens" who don't exist registered to vote in Davidson County for the Nov. 2 presidential election and now the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the person who submitted those forms on behalf of Tennessee Citizen Action (TCA).

The false cards are believed to be the work of a temporary employee hired by Tennessee Citizen Action, a consumer advocacy group working to push voter registration. Voter registration fraud is a felony.

TBI spokesperson Jennifer Johnson confirmed Monday that District Attorney General Torry Johnson asked her department last week to investigate the incident and that investigation is ongoing.

"Believe it or not, we work [voter fraud] cases all of the time," Johnson said. "Every single one is different but even since I have been here, in the last month and a half, we have worked other voter fraud cases in other towns.

"Sometimes it is as simple as somebody thinking that a ballot box has been contaminated to something more elaborate."

The TCA employee in question, whose name has not been released, was fired immediately after Metro Election Commission staff members discovered the false cards. The person was being paid by the hour and not per registration.
Mancini's twitter feed is filled with far-left pro-union and pro-Democrat bitternesses.

So, anything she says or is paid to support must be read with the knowledge that she is NOT a friend of business of any sort; instead, her mindset puts her at odds with any but far-Left ideologies.

Full text of a Good Man's Presidential Address to the Nation, at the Start of War.

President George W. Bush, 3/20/2003:
"My fellow citizens. At this hour, American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger.

"On my orders, coalition forces have begun striking selected targets of military importance to undermine Saddam Hussein's ability to wage war. These are opening stages of what will be a broad and concerted campaign.

"More than 35 countries are giving crucial support from the use of naval and air bases to help with intelligence and logistics to deployment of combat units.

"Every nation in this coalition has chosen to bear the duty and share the honour of serving in our common defense.

"To all the men and women of the United States armed forces now in the Middle East, the peace of a troubled world and the hopes of an oppressed people now depend on you. That trust is well placed.

"The enemies you confront will come to know your skill and bravery. The people you liberate will witness the honorable and decent spirit of the American military.

"In this conflict America faces an enemy that has no regard for conventions of war or rules of morality.

"Saddam Hussein has placed Iraqi troops and equipment in civilian areas, attempting to use innocent men, women and children as shields for his own military. A final atrocity against his people.

"I want Americans and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm.

"A campaign on the harsh terrain of the nation as large as California could be longer and more difficult than some predict and helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable and free country will require our sustained commitment.

"We come to Iraq with respect for its citizens, for their great civilization and for the religious faiths they practice.

"We have no ambition in Iraq except to remove a threat and restore control of that country to its own people.

"I know that the families of our military are praying that all those who serve will return safely and soon.

"Millions of Americans are praying with you for the safety of your loved ones and for the protection of the innocent.

"For your sacrifice you have the gratitude and respect of the American people and you can know that our forces will be coming home as soon as their work is done.

"Our nation enters this conflict reluctantly, yet our purpose is sure. The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder.

"We will meet that threat now with our army, air force, navy, coastguard and marines so that we do not have to meet it later with armies of firefighters and police and doctors on the streets of our cities.

"Now that conflict has come, the only way to limit its duration is to apply decisive force and I assure you this will not be a campaign of half measures and we will accept no outcome but victory.

"My fellow citizens, the dangers to our country and the world will be overcome. We will pass through this time of peril and carry on the work of peace. We will defend our freedom. We will bring freedom to others and we will prevail.

"May God bless our country and all who defend her."

Krugman on the Cronon affair

You say, Krugman..."The Cronon affair, then, is one more indicator of just how reflexively vindictive, how un-American, one of our two great political parties has become."

You were born yesterday? Have you not witnessed how the far-Left has suborned the once-proud Democratic party and ran off with it? How Democrats behaved for the 8 long years of the Bush Administration?

Democrats own Saul Alinsky, and mastered his tactics long before Republicans finally woke up. It's about time we responded in kind, I say; hopefully in time to save this great Republic from the 'designed decline' Democrats are orchestrating. We on the 'far-right' exist because of and as a response to the far-left, a much more dangerous political persuasion and direction. Just look to the far-left: Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky; when you see the 'clenched fist' logo taken by many of the Wisconsin union supporters, you'll see the obvious marks of Communism. That's where the Democrats are taking us.

Dr. William Cronon, supposedly a pragmatic 'centrist', chose to frame his blog narrative as a hit piece on Republicans; on Governor Scott Walker and the Fitzgeralds and on the 'shadowy' American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) (a think-tank, Cronon, not a Soros-funded attack group!) while also holding himself as immune from any questions as to his motives. He's certainly learned how to manipulate the minions of the far-left, as evidenced by his blog's success, and this (and his previous) NYT editorial.

To cloak himself as a 'scholar' and at the same time lob firebombs from his basement isn't proper. He's deservedly gotten some attention, and questions need answering. He should produce the emails as requested, or hire a lawyer and get busy in court.

If Cronon is what passes for a 'centrist' at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, then God help this failing nation.

(Oh, if Dr. William Cronon (who speaks of himself in third-party) gets a bit better at these matters politik, he'll be a shoo-in for Wisconsin Governor  ...   )

Dr. William Cronon for WISCONSIN GOVERNOR!
 What an ill-fitted leftist tool.

Bill Ayers 'admits' he wrote Barack Obama's "Dreams from My Father". Is this a shakedown of Barack Obama, or just a crazy terrorist throwing bombs again?

Bill Ayers claims he wrote Barack Obama's Autobiography Dreams from My Father. He said this in front of over 100 people at a Students for a Democratic Soctiety (SDS) event on March 24, 2011 at Montclair State University in New Jersey.

Dreams from My Father,
being Memoirs of Barack Obama,
tidied up and prettified
by Bill
(I don't regret setting bombs)
Ayers

Of course, this guy Bill Ayers was an admitted Weather Underground terrorist who was instrumental in bombing the Capitol and the Pentagon and responsible for the deaths of several people; a radical of the worst sort; he then went on to become a somewhat 'respected' professor (!) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, then helped Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer introduce Barack Hussein Obama to politics (as her chosen successor from Bill Ayers' home. Ayers likely is still a lying bastard; but his writings are intellectually consistent with Dreams, whereas Barack Obama's previous and later writings are not.

Jack Cashill, at American Thinker (h/t Pablo, who leads his  pw comment - link with "Speaking of civil war, there seems to be a disturbance in the Chicago force.")

Ayers affirms he wrote Dreams from my Father
Last Thursday evening at Montclair State University, with a video camera rolling, Bill Ayers volunteered that yes indeed he had written the acclaimed Barack Obama memoir, Dreams from My Father.

Unprompted, Ayers also noted that while Dreams deserves its praise, Obama's second opus, Audacity of Hope, is "more of a political hack book."

Not surprisingly, Ayers retreated into irony as he ended the session. "Yeah, yeah," he said after confirming again that he wrote Dreams, "And if you help me prove it, I'll split the royalties with you. [SHAKEDOWN ALERT! -ed.] Thank you very much."

With his final comment, the Ayers-friendly audience laughed in relief. The media will laugh nervously upon seeing the video as well. The White House will not.

Barack Obama knows what I know and what the people who have read my book, "Deconstructing Obama," know: Bill Ayers is the principal craftsman behind Dreams. The evidence is overwhelming.
I've been following this since the beginning; saying that if we could prove BHO lied to his corps of awestruck university professors who believe him when he takes full credit for authorship of Dreams, at least some of them would rethink their unquestioning allegiance and turn their backs. At least, maybe some of the professors might still be honest enough to respect truthfulness and intellectual honesty over ideology; how many altruistic far-left professors are out there? Not so many, I don't think

In any event, this should shake BHO's world up just a bit. It'll teach him that no matter what the terrorist says, or how much he is given, you still just can't trust 'em.

I worry now for Bill Ayers' safety. You know how Chicago politics works as well as I do.

Bill Ayers stomps the American Flag

Well, saying I worry might be overstating things just a bit.  )

New Tsunami Video

OK, I think I would've panicked around the 2:00 mark.

Unbelievable destruction, Mother Nature. Shame on you.
UPDATED: Video 'repaired'. The original was pulled, for whatever reason (too many millions of hits, or maybe just the freak commenters saying nassty things about 'Pearl Harbor'.

YouTube commenters are, for the most part, all idiots. That is all.

Whimsicality VI: Oil from Hobos ?

Oilent Green!

Dan has the sordid story of the (now closed) corpse liquefaction facilities in Columbus, Ohio. I suppose that 'Big Rock Candy Mountain' is far from Ohio. I'd guess it's in New Zealand, but there's no freight you can hop what'll get you there.

For the longsufferin' hobos of this nation, I'll...light a candle. )

Where are 'Progressive', 'Social', 'Anti-Conservative' Democratic politics taking U.S., you ask?

To street protests and riots, of course. It's just a matter of time before the coming and necessary cuts we'll have to implement aren't just mentioned in theory but actually mandated by reality. The knee-jerk reaction of the far-left in Madison and throughout Wisconsin (and spreading to other large, Democratic-controlled liberal burgs as well) to sensible economic reforms designed to save teacher's jobs by removing the influence of unnecessary public-sector unions is but a flash in the pan compared to what we're getting ready to witness. Just look at what's happening this weekend to our ally, just across the pond in the United Kingdom (they are a bit further along in their debt crisis and the need for immediate management than we are, it seems)...
Organisers of a huge protest against the Government's public spending cuts tonight hailed the demonstration a "fantastic success" after hundreds of thousands of people joined the biggest event of its kind for over 20 years.

Between 400,000 and 500,000 teachers, nurses, firefighters, council and NHS workers, other public sector employees, students, pensioners and campaign groups from across the UK marched through central London to a rally where union officials and Labour leader Ed Miliband condemned the "brutal" cuts in jobs and services.

Violence flared away from the rally when a group of hundreds of activists, not connected with the union protest, clashed with police. They set off fireworks, threw paint and attacked shops in Oxford Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly.

Topshop and HSBC had their windows smashed, while paint and glass bottles were thrown at a Royal Bank of Scotland branch.

Covering their faces with scarves, they fought with police and disrupted traffic, throwing lightbulbs filled with ammonia at officers and lighting a fire.

Nine arrests were made and some police officers were injured.

UK Uncut, an anti-cuts direct action group, later occupied the Fortnum & Mason store in Piccadilly, claiming the firm had "dodged" paying taxes.

TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said he "bitterly regretted" the violence, adding that he hoped it would not detract from the massive anti-cuts protest.

He told the Press Association: "I don't think the activities of a few hundred people should take the focus away from the hundreds of thousands of people who have sent a powerful message to the Government today.

"Ministers should now seriously reconsider their whole strategy after today's demonstration. This has been Middle Britain speaking."

Mr Barber said unions would now step up pressure on the Government, especially MPs in their constituencies, and launch a series of protests next week in defence of the NHS."

London Ambulance Service said 30 people were treated for injuries throughout the day, 11 of whom were taken to hospital, ranging from assault to collapsing with illness.

Commander Bob Broadhurst said: "The main march has gone very well. Their estimates are 250,000 - maybe more - have come to central London and protested peacefully. That has gone as we expected.
Will merry old England find a way to make these necessary cuts no longer necessary, to calm half a million (so far) dirty socialists who've taken to the streets? If so, they can give us the necessary methodology that'll might work over here (printing money isn't a real solution, boys and girls, because that's just delaying the inevitable). Because we're very close, a year or two at most, to mandating these sorts of 'draconian' cuts that will cause our dirty socialists to flock to the streets in protest, just as we've seen in the liberal hell-hole of Madison, Wisconsin.

Let's keep a close eye on these events in social welfare havens in Europe, shall we? Because we're attached to their coattails, and riding just... behind.

The 'Monty Python' Socialist Assholes Brigade provides some much-needed comic relief.

"The Paranoid Style in Liberal Politics: The left’s obsession with the Koch brothers"

The Kochs’ critics, it turned out, had no interest in the truth about them. What made the Kochs interesting was their usefulness as symbolic enemies: objects of the progressives’ latest two minutes’ hate.
A  Weekly Standard article written by Matthew Continetti explores the hateful and unwarranted attacks on the Brothers Koch, attacks that accelerated after frantic Wisconsin unionists discovered that Governor Scott Walker had received $43K in donations from KOCHPAC, the political action committee conceived by David and Charles Koch (never mind that Democrats also took monies from the same PAC, monies that they won't return, the disingenuous hypocrites).

Continetti...
For progressives confused at the heated opposition to their do-gooder agenda, the Kochs became convenient scapegoats. Invoking their name was a way to write off opposition to Obama as the false consciousness of racist rubes stoked by greedy businessmen. In the liberal imagination the Kochs ascended from obscurity to infamy in record time. Starting in the spring of 2009, whenever you turned on MSNBC or clicked on the Huffington Post you’d see the Kochs described in terms more applicable to Lex Luthor and General Zod.
Of course, to hear some of these nozzles of douche speak, you'd think the Kochs were the devil himself. See this from a porky writing at Leftard at Breakfast...
Calling the Koch Brothers people who are "perhaps best known for (their) family’s contributions to conservative causes" is like calling Sauron a jewelry aficionado. And it's thanks to pseudo-liberal rags like the NY Times that the Koch brothers are best known for their largesse to conservative causes. Because if we had a real, non-corporately subsidized mainstream media, the Koch brothers would be called out as right wing, white collar terrorists that pollute the environment only slightly less than BP and are dedicated to smashing public unions and had financed smear campaigns against school teachers even in states in which they don't live.

And the reason why that Koch joke didn't get more play in the media and called out for what it is is because in today's day and age, a billionaire who'd pumped tens of thousands of petrodollars into an anti-progressive, anti-union candidate's campaign is supposed to get immediate access to their employees, don't you know.
Just what you'd expect from a swilling slimeball. But this is typical-speak of far-left 'progressives' who won't rest until this nation is deprived of individualism and forced to adhere to Marx - Lenin - Stalin - Trotsky ideologies, their unwitting goal; to become totally free of the need to work.

So, who are these Brothers Koch? Continetti writes three pages, a well-written thumbnail biography; all of which you should read.

The Kochs were instrumental in founding the libertarian Cato institute; where social liberal policies play well together with fiscal conservatism. This brings a smile to my stone face. Continetti...
The Kochs’ politics didn’t match traditional categories. Republicans, in their view, were just as implicated in big government as Democrats. To this day the Cato Institute calls for a much smaller defense budget, a noninterventionist foreign policy, and liberal positions on social issues. Some of these views have made movement conservatives uneasy. In June 1979 National Review went so far as to publish an essay critical of Cato Institute libertarians by Lawrence V. Cott. The title of the piece was “Cato Institute & the Invisible Finger.” The finger in question belonged to Charles Koch.
emphasis mine.

On our current political climate (brought on by George Bush's Iraq invasion and subsequent war (!), and Barack Obama...
Charles and David sensed that Bush’s failure would drive Americans into the arms of Barack Obama. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the financial crisis of September 2008 made a toxic brew, and Americans turned to the young Democratic senator who promised hope and change. Change is what they got. Ask Charles Koch what he thinks about Obama and he looks like he’s just bit into a lemon.“He’s a dedicated egalitarian,” Charles said. “I’m not saying he’s a Marxist, but he’s internalized some Marxist models—that is, that business tends to be successful by exploiting its customers and workers.”

David agreed. “He’s the most radical president we’ve ever had as a nation,” he said, “and has done more damage to the free enterprise system and long-term prosperity than any president we’ve ever had.” David suggested the president’s radicalism was tied to his upbringing. “His father was a hard core economic socialist in Kenya,” he said. “Obama didn’t really interact with his father face-to-face very much, but was apparently from what I read a great admirer of his father’s points of view. So he had sort of antibusiness, anti-free enterprise influences affecting him almost all his life. It just shows you what a person with a silver tongue can achieve.”
Of course, any criticism of the left's politics and ideology will provoke the sort of backlash we've seen. Again, Continetti writes a nice thumbnail history of the rise of the liberal (now 'progressive') hate machine, and it's destructive results. But the truth is what it is, and must be set free. I'm impressed that the Koch brothers have elucidated their beliefs so steadfastly, their 'community organized' foes notwithstanding. Good men, these Koch brothers.

Tea Party holding the (flailing) GOP's pragmatic feets to the fire.

A good thing. I've said long and often that the GOP is in need of a reform; that the GOP is NOT my party of choice; that ANY money I give to the GOP goes through other entities firstly; either the NRA or the various Tea Party groups. The GOP would be wandering lost and broken in the wilderness today, deservedly so, if not for the Tea Party. For nominating John McCain, they deserve nothing more from any Conservative. For allowing the far-Left Democratic party to even exist is bad enough; for not fighting every waking moment against this Republic-destroying collective of neo-Communists, moochers and looters without jumping in their faces is enough to warrant my anger against them. So, screw the pragmatic wing of the GOP, early, hard and often.

In today's WSJ...

Boehner Facing Tea-Party Pressure

Ohio conservatives say they are preparing to call 1,000 of Mr. Boehner's donors to complain that he isn't doing enough to block a debt-limit increase. On a new Facebook page, "Tea Partiers Against Boehner,'' they air complaints. The national group Tea Party Patriots, saying that Republicans are "timidly passing mediocre spending reforms,'' has called for a rally at the Capitol.

The calls to make big spending cuts come as Mr. Boehner works under deadline pressure with Democratic lawmakers and the White House on a plan to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year to avoid a potential government shutdown after April 8.

Such negotiations tend to push lawmakers toward compromise. The tea-party activists want Mr. Boehner to stick to his guns on $61 billion in budget cuts that the House approved earlier this year. "You said you were going to cut X amount, and that's what we want to see happen,'' said Chris Littleton, co-founder of the Ohio Liberty Council, a coalition of tea-party groups. "Just take a stand. That's pretty cut and dried.'' ...

Many tea-party activists were already infuriated with the GOP when the House—including Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia—voted down a conservative-backed amendment for $20 billion more in cuts than were passed.

"We are extremely disappointed in Eric Cantor, but not surprised," said Mark Lloyd, chairman of the Virginia Tea Party Patriot Federation. "When you have the opportunity to cut, you cut."
Shades of the Gingrich House; the 'Contract with America' was a great start, then the House members grew complacent and became 'inside the beltway' and the movement collapsed.

This time, no. We MUST keep the pressure on the GOP. To wrest away any influence the Left has, we have to involve the good people left in this Republic, what few there are who aren't already purchased moochers. Seems everywhere you look, there's more degradation of our national zeitgeist, a plummet to levels that Democrats prefer: statist controls, complacent and compliant zombies who vote Democratic as long as they are given a government nipple to suckle. Is that what this nation is moving to? Yes, it is.

Pragmatists in the GOP aren't working to stop this slide; they want to 'just get along'. Hell, no.

This direction we're moving in has to change, and the GOP's desire to change amounts to not the 180° turn around that's necessary, but a 20° vector still heading in the wrong direction...only slightly off the course the Left prefers, but still wrong. We need a complete turn around.

If it doesn't happen by electoral politics, then it will by force of economics, when the debt chicken crashes home to roost.

Interlude: Cosmic Sea

Let's see if this embed works.
UPDATE

Guide to Electronic Music
Looks promising.

Patrick Frey, Los Angeles DDA, meets his match.

Here we go again.

A comment I left today on Robert Stacy McCain's post detailing this mess, that might be deep-sixed by some of Frey's minions...
_____________________________________________________________________________
Dustin's learned one thing from Patrick Frey; how to spin like a Maytag Mangler.
Patrick Frey is a tenacious Deputy District Attorney (DDA) who does fine work for Los Angeles County, I'm sure of it. Being a prosecutor and an officer of the Court, he realizes he doesn't have to tell the truth unless he's under oath; he realizes that he can lie and get away with it in order to 'trip up' a suspect. He's treated JeffG like a 'suspect' for two years now; testing his defenses by leading with lies and misleading statements. Frey pulled the same stunt with RSM, wondering publicaly and often about his possible 'racism', pushing and poking and playing him to get whatever responses he wanted, then more and more push-pins in his ass to get him to react. JeffG used exactly the same tactics with Frye, who is now squealing like Ned Beatty, because he can't stand the pressure of the role reversals. And, JeffG's got the bigger push-pin, obviously.

Frey finally met his match. He invented this 'Cease and Desist' letter bomb, dropped it like an M-80 in Jeff's mailbox, but this time Frey's screwed the pooch. He has to answer for it. He can't produce the 'evidence'; his 'lawyer friend' won't come forward to help him out; the harmed 'client' is nonplussed. Actually, nonexistent, except in Prosecutor Frey's fevered mind.

So, Dustin, you should be exhorting Master Frey to put up some real evidence that he's not a liar par excellence, or tell him to apologize then shut the f**k up, forever.

Frey might well be called on the carpet by Los Angeles Internal Investigations, who could view this as the straw that broke the camel's back. For the record, Frey shouldn't be fired, just transferred to a Juvenile Court across town, so's he can go back and forth, day after day, getting some well-deserved 'freeway therapy'. Listening to Tolstoy's novels on audio CD, likely.

JeffG's post, detailing the history of this kerfuffle...
I want to take this opportunity, as I wait for the USPS to find and forward me the letter that someone paid an attorney good money to draft and then mail to an address where I don’t live — and couldn’t have lived for the past nearly 5 years (though we don’t know what address that is, or when the mail was sent, just as we don’t know when my serial cyber-harassment was supposed to have taken place, nor from what email account these “unhinged” “rants”, as they’ve been described by a DDA who claims never to have seen them or read them but who nonetheless felt comfortable classifying them, emanated) — to re-post links to the various essays of mine that started (and then re-started) this whole ugly ball rolling. Because as I was revisiting them over the past few days, I was struck by just how concerned they were with trying to engage with ideas (mostly about language), and were really anything but the “attacks on honor” the DDA and his band of howler monkeys has subsequently made them out to be.

But don’t believe me. Look for yourselves:

1) On Nobility. In which the “good man” trope is born.
2) Outlaw Speak (the follow-up).
3) Letterman’s “rape” joke (Frey waited, then later noted that I had “defended child rape” — I shit thee not! Lots of very good debate in the comment section. Note, most people disagreed with me, and I managed to argue throughout a 600 comment thread without pretending anyone issued a death threat and banning him or her.)
4. how I learned to stop worrying and love the f bomb, guest-posted on Hot Air (back before Frey’s campaign to have me booted from polite company hit its highest gear).
4) In which I don’t defend child rape, despite the claim that I do.
5) More language lessons, revisited — the post in which I detailed why the public method Frey deployed to vet Stacy McCain was linguistically flawed (and a bit unseemly).
6) Which of course, led to Frey’s series of posts about how Jeff Goldstein is violent; an intellectual fraud; not a man of substance; likes to play the race card, etc. My response was to show Frey how his OWN arguments defending his “investigation” of Stacy McCain’s (potential) racism works, and the dangers inherent to itclearly spoofing Frey’s own posts and using the opportunity to point out the linguistic problems with such arguments.

And there are others, but you get the point. And can see the pattern.
The pattern is clear. Mr. Frey is taking his job home with him; he's using the tools of his trade to attack others, his betters.

Just stop it, Frey. Get some rest, freeway therapy, or something.

International Leaders say Barack Hussein Obama should forfeit his Nobel 'Peace' Prize

He shouldn't have gotten it in the first place, obviously; he hadn't done anything yet but loudly bash George Bush for years for jumping into wars unprovoked. Now that BHO is Commander in Chief of the United States of America, he's failed to live up to the expectations of the Nobel Peace Prize committee. First, he didn't immediately pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan as he promised he would; now, he's slinging Tomahawk missiles and bombing civilians with the best of 'em.

What a doofus he is.

From Sky News...

Take away Obama's Peace Prize

Bolivian President Evo Morales has called for US President Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize to be revoked following his decision to attack Libya.

'Two years ago we heard that President Barack Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize, but is he defending peace in the world now, or isn't he instead fomenting violence?' Morales told reporters, days after Obama ordered the bombing of Libya military targets as part of an UN-approved effort to protect civilians.

'How is it possible to give the Nobel Peace Prize to someone who has launched an invasion, a bombing? It's a violation, an assault, an aggression,' said Morales, one of Latin America's most left-leaning leaders and a vocal critic of the United States.

'Obama is the leader of group of thugs who led an assault and an invasion - and that has nothing to do with defending human rights,' he declared.
From Russia, another opinion...

Russia’s Zhirinovsky calls to revoke Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize

Russia’s head of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, has appealed to the Nobel Prize Committee to revoke U.S. President Barack Obama’s Nobel Prize, the party’s press service said in a statement on Monday.

Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for his commitment to non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

“The situation in Libya is yet another shocking act of aggression by NATO forces and in particular by the United States. This is a clear reflection of colonial policy. This is another crude invasion into the domestic affairs of an independent state. There is only one goal: to take control of Libyan oil and the Libyan regime and not saving the Libyan people,” the press service quoted Zhirinovsky as saying.

We’re fighting War Lite, without leadership or goals

The half-heartedness of the intervenors against the manic determination of Col. Gadhafi; the ragtag rebels against his better-armed and -trained pretorians; our concession of control of the ground to him for unwillingness to put any of our boots there – it all seems to bode something less than a glorious victory. No war is a bargain except for those who can afford it, but cheap, half-hearted ones aren’t bargains for anyone.
We knew when BHO assumed the office that foreign policy would suffer, that he (as a Democrat, and a far-left one at that) wouldn't be up to the task of running the armed forces. What we are seeing now is proof.

Jimmy Carter failed miserably in the desert; he withdrew in shame after the failed hostage rescue attempt in Iran. This one is just one small slip away from doing the same sort of flight reaction.

Because he sure doesn't know how to fight.

Elizabeth Taylor died today...

...but, REUNITED~!

"Accustomed".

~*~

The president acknowledged the irony of being a Nobel Peace Prize winner who ordered the U.S. military into action on the eight anniversary of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, but said the goal in this case was humanitarian.

"I'm accustomed to this contradiction of being both a commander-in-chief but also somebody who aspires to peace," Obama said
We became accustomed to hearing for many years from the Left, and from you as a leader of the left, proclaim George W. Bush as evil. Now, you embrace your warmongering inner self, and brush off this latest war as an inconsequential gesture...
The American people will see no contradiction between someone who believes in peace and "who wants to make sure people aren't butchered because of a dictator who wants to cling to power,"Obama added.
Saddam wanted desperately to cling to power, asshole. And he and his sons shredded people.

"We're not going to baby sit a civil war."
Barack Obama quote spoken on NBC's Today Show on January 11, 2007

"...I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment -- this was the time -- when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals." -- Barack Obama on June 3, 2008, St. Paul MN

The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.” Senator Barrack Obama – December 20, 2007

Seems like the Warmonger-in-Chief is now a Neocon, doesn't it?

Can we expect papier-mâché Obama heads on campus at Berkeley? Mock war crimes trials in San Francisco? A revival of the anti-war sentiments Democrats seeded in the media and on campuses for 8 long years?

Let's do it. I'll get busy on that papier-mâché Obama head first thing.

FOR WORLD PEACE~!, don't you know.

Git a ROPE~?!

I'm fascinated, watching the Left disintegrate. Half of 'em are looking at the Libyan conflict with disgust and at Obama like he's got two heads. The other half have suddenly become Neocons; cheering on the start and continuation of this confuzzling conflict despite the fact that short years ago they hated, hated, HATED! George BOOOOOOOOSH's wars. I suppose when your boy's driving the tank, the view's different.

Here's a photo whose caption by a lefty photoblogger puts our CommanDeerintheHeadlights in an interesting perspective...

photo: Suhaib Salem/Reuters. caption: The head of a goat is hung on the muzzle of a destroyed tank, belonging to forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, after an air strike by coalition forces along a road between Benghazi and Ajdabiyah March 20, 2011.

Obama vs. Gaddafi: Who’s A Head?

If this picture caught the imagination of photo editors — the souvenir hung on a destroyed government tank by the Libyan rebels following a coalition airstrike – it might have a greater symbolic significance. Now that Obama has stuck his neck out — not just to bolster the Libyan insurgency but to cut the head off Gaddafi’s government – the question is, which man will turn out the goat?
Interesting take, Michael.

Because, you know, Gaddafi doesn't smoke.

Another Euro-Socialist Government prepares for collapse due to it's overwhelming debt.

Another object lesson for any nation who expects to survive a debt crisis without a painful, hurtful, dirty socialist-spanking austerity program...

Portugal braces for govt collapse amid debt crisis

LISBON, Portugal The leader of Portugal's main opposition party says the minority government's downfall is "inevitable" after it failed to win political support for its latest plan to cut the country's huge debt burden.

Portugal is trying to avoid becoming the latest of the 17 eurozone countries to need a bailout, following financial aid for Greece and Ireland last year.

But all opposition parties have balked at the Socialist government's new austerity measures, which are expected to be rejected by Parliament even though European leaders praised them.

Pedro Passos Coelho, leader of the main opposition Social Democratic Party, said late Monday that the political deadlock made an early election unavoidable.
More, here.

We're not far off from a debt crises here in America, children.

"Quote of the Day" has nothing to do with BHO's darting off to Brazil, letting Hillary declare WAR! from Paris.

The idiot in the White House is in Brazil right now...

Barack Obama strains whilst Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff glances over nervously.

Have you any remembrance of a U.S. President who declares us in another war then promptly leaves the country ? No, he didn't even have the cohoneys to declare us in another war himself. The L.A. Times reports...
Reporting from Washington—
This is not the way American presidents go to war. The opening act is supposed to feature the president sitting solemnly in the Oval Office, explaining the reasons, laying out the goals, talking tough.

Barack Obama did not even announce the start to the third U.S. war in the Muslim world in a decade. He left that to his secretary of State who was in Paris, standing alongside a French president who a few months ago wanted to do more business with strongman Moammar Kadafi and was now claiming credit for leading airstrikes against him.

When Obama did emerge hours later, he stood at a lectern in the bottom of a convention center in Brasilia, capital of a nation that did not vote for the U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing military force. He went to pains to point out that the U.S. mission will be limited and not include U.S. ground troops. And he emphasized that U.S. forces were acting as part of a coalition that was enforcing international will.
He should piss his pants. It would serve him right.

Libyan Rebel's Fighter Jet Shot Down, Pilot Ejects Safely

One hell of a photo. Had to post it.

The Libyan rebels have jets ? The Associated Press (via Yahoo!) says this is one of Gadhafi's toys, but...
A fighter plane has been shot down over Benghazi. Although it was initially thought to belong to Gaddafi's forces, rebels in the city have said it was their only jet.
I wonder...the UN's 'no-fly' zone is now in force. How do the French and British enforcers know the difference between the rebel's and Gadhafi's toys? Was this a 'friendly fire' incident?

Doesn't matter. That was their only jet.

At least the pilot lived.

Barack Obama forced by the UN to use the 'Palin Doctrine' in Libya

Typing that post title certainly brought a smile to my stone face.

What is 'Palin Doctrine', you ask? Glad you did...

Palin Doctrine Emerges as Arab League Echoes Her Demarche on Libya

The call by the Arab League for Western military intervention in an Arab state — in this case asking that a UN “no-fly zone” be imposed over Libya – is not only without precedent but it puts in formal terms what Governor Palin stated three weeks ago should have been America’s response to the political and humanitarian crisis now unfolding there.

The former GOP vice presidential candidate was being interviewed on February 23rd on national television by Sean Hannity on a range of issues. On the Libya crisis, she proposed a no-fly-zone to protect the armed and un-armed opposition to the Qaddafi regime. Mrs. Palin’s formulation had been blogged about for nearly a week when it was echoed by the man who, before the Iraq war, had led the Iraq democratic movement in exile, Ahmed Chalabi.
So, Barack Obama, get busy.

And be sure to thank Sarah Palin for shoving your slow-moving ass in the right direction showing you the way.

Barack Obama ordered around by...the UNITED NATIONS ?

From Steven Hayward at The Corner...
I'm not sure I ever thought I'd see the day that the United Nations, the impotent folks who prompted one of Lyndon Johnson's better quips ("The U.N. couldn't pour piss out of a boot if you printed the instructions on the heel!"), would look tougher than the president of the United States -- since a U.N. resolution authorizing force is really a U.N. resolution calling for U.S. leadership to deploy the actual force.
But Democrats LOATHE the MILITARY! They've never had a tough foreign policy; we all know during a Democrat's reign in the White House, we lose ground and stature. Nothing new under Baracky.

Jimmy Carter is so thankful that BHO's firmly unseated him as the worst MODERN president, evah.

"Fukushima 50" (not to be confused with the "Fleebagger 14") stay behind. Logical, and Heroic.

Huge New Satellite Picture Shows The Total Devastation At The Nuke Plant

It's a selfless thing, staying behind in the face of near-certain radiation exposure and perhaps a short, cancerous future. How they do it, I don't know; but I've deepest admiration and respect for these men (and women?).
"You are the only ones who can resolve a crisis. Retreat is unthinkable," Japanese Prime Minister Naota Kan told them, the Financial Times reported.

They are known as the Fukushima 50, the workers who stayed behind at the crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant in order to prevent a meltdown in Japan.

Between 50 and 70 plant engineers -- who have not been identified and are being hailed as heroes -- continue to work around the clock in dangerous conditions, as hundreds of thousands have evacuated the area, fearing a meltdown.

Two of the workers are missing after an explosion and fire at the Unit 4 reactor, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. Workers have since resumed operations, Reuters reports.

"The longer they stay, the more dangerous it becomes for them," Margaret Harding of the American Nuclear Society told CBS News.
One thing for sure; they aren't Wisconsin Democrats. Or any sort of Americans.

Back off, doomsayers! There's steady progress at Fukushima.

Amid the ominous reports coming from Japan (reactor 2 explodes, joining 1 and 3 in an orgy of meltdown frenzy); problems with reactor 4 (shut down for repairs, but still needing cooling: supposedly 2 8mm holes in the reactor casing itself, releasing radioactivity into the air) we find some sanity at the WSJ...

Japan Makes Progress at Troubled Nuclear Plant

Officials Regain Some Control, But Too Early to Say Problems Over; Reactors 5, 6 Heat Up

See how the ADULTS in the media headline what they know? Look at a lefty site, say, Huff'n'blow, you've nothing but sensationalism. That's what the LeftLibProggs thrive on; pure, unthinking melodrama. That's why they voted for a little prezzidint-man who stutters and MUST NEEDS! a teleprompter, or he's a fish out of water. (See an executive summary of Mr. Obama's business qualifications here; this should be a separate post, but I'm hurried today)...
an analysis of BHO as Company USA’s CEO
In classic management theory, Barack Obama would have to be described as an abdicative manager.

The abdicative manager evidences a tendency to flee [FLEEBAGGER] from responsibility and is frequently encountered in situations where he or she never wanted the job in the first place (for instance, a son or daughter who inherits a company or the individual who discovers that they are incapable of adequate performance). Abdication can be exhibited in a variety of ways, ranging from physically removing oneself through travel (the confusion of movement with action), to obsessing about personal interests or a limited range of controllable subjects.
Obama’s frequent vacations and absences, especially in times of crisis, coupled with his unwillingness to personally invest himself in key initiatives, are demonstrative of this style. An excellent example occurred after passage of the healthcare initiative. Having ceded authority in what would later be described as his key achievement to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, he watched as they forced the bill through under a manufactured emergency that precluded lawmakers from having time to read it. He then went on a four-day vacation before signing it.
There’s more; it’s worth the clicky admission.
Back to the reactor, the multiple meltdowns. From the ADULT WSJ...
TOKYO—Japanese officials appeared to have regained some control of northeast Japan's troubled nuclear power plant Tuesday afternoon, at least for now, after spikes in radiation levels that followed a new explosion at one reactor and a fire at another earlier in the day put the nation on high alert.

Officials stressed it was too early to say the worst has been averted at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which has suffered serious problems in four of its six reactors since Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami. Determining the cause of the earlier radiation leaks and checking what's happening inside the overheating reactors was difficult.

Authorities also signaled a new area of potential worry: temperature at the remaining two reactors, both not operating at the time of the earthquake and so far not the subject of concern, has risen slightly, prompting the need for close monitoring. Officials were also probing a report that boiling water had been spotted near where the fire broke out Tuesday morning, another potential worrying sign.

But the conditions at the plant appeared to have stabilized in some aspects Tuesday afternoon. While radiation levels at the plant remain elevated, they have dropped significantly from earlier in the day, ruling out the continuation of unstoppable large-scale leaks.
There you go.

Here's a 'Tokyo Geiger Counter', measuring the radioactivity in the air, updated every 10 minutes. A spike to about 90 CPM (not very much) at about 11:52 3/15/11, then a return to 'normal'.

And, a webcam from TEPCO, that if daylight, shows a what's in the air at Fukushima. Right now, it's pitch-black.

Now, to prove my lack of PANIC! ONOES! RADIATION'S GONNA KILL US ALL!!!11!!!, I present this photo scan of the magazine cover "The Daily", featuring what my buddy and Bag-man describes as "Up-skirt shot and doofy word play. Not nearly as bad, though, as corny NY Post-style headlines paired with tragic Japan photos."

Huh. Looks to me like a University of North Carolina cheerleader giving up aerial; captured by a camera with an open aperture and a quick shutter setting (I'd say a fast f4.5 and 1/200 or so, wouldn't you?). Nice shot, really.

Now rush out to your local health-food store and buy some iodine tablets, y'hear?

The Media needs some nice 'Liquid Control Rod' shoved in their overheated reactors.

There's no real new news coming out of Japan, so we are treated to our worldwide media's GADZOOKS! Gawdawful DOOM!!1!! MeLTdoWn scenarios, END OF THE FREAKIN' WORLD!!!!111!. But is that what's really happening?

Business Insider reprints an important must-read that the Main Stream Media OBVIOUSLY missed. I'm putting it here as well, since this really should be read by everyone. Most of it is below the fold...
This was originally posted as a comment on Japan Death Toll Climbs Astronomically As Nuclear Crisis Spreads.
UPDATE: Since posting this, we have learned that it was written by Dr. Josef Oehmen, a research scientist at MIT. It was originally posted here.

I repeat, there was and will *not* be any significant release of radioactivity from the damaged Japanese reactors.
By "significant" I mean a level of radiation of more than what you would receive on - say - a long distance flight, or drinking a glass of beer that comes from certain areas with high levels of natural background radiation.
I have been reading every news release on the incident since the earthquake. There has not been one single report that was accurate and free of errors (and part of that problem is also a weakness in the Japanese crisis communication). By “not free of errors” I do not refer to tendentious anti-nuclear journalism – that is quite normal these days. By “not free of errors” I mean blatant errors regarding physics and natural law, as well as gross misinterpretation of facts, due to an obvious lack of fundamental and basic understanding of the way nuclear reactors are build and operated. I have read a 3 page report on CNN where every single paragraph contained an error.

Theo's posted photos, with a disclaimer...
Sorry guys but I make no apologies for posting these pictures of a 4 year old an 11 year old and their father with a 3 month old baby slaughtered in their home by Palestinian terrorists. Occasionally as editor of this site I have to make decisions over the content and this is one I have had to think long and hard about, but all being said if we in the blogosphere don't publish them few will get to see the horror that was brought upon this innocent family.
Last time this happened (yes, it's happened before!, in 2005) there was push back. This time, the push back is new construction, directly in the face of murder.

Prime Minister Netanyahu...
The terrorists shoot, and we build, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the parents of Ehud and Ruth Fogel on Sunday night during a shiva call, hours after the government’s settlement committee decided to approve the building of 400 -500 housing units in large settlement blocks.

“They say Eretz Yisrael is acquired through pain and suffering,” Netanyahu told the grieving parents, “but we didn’t think the pain and suffering would be so great. This heinous act has led all of us to say, ‘Enough.’ The security services are doing everything they can to find the murders, and we will find the criminals. They are not people, but beasts.”
Not beasts, Prime Minister, just religious folk who pray some four or five times a day.

They pray to something...

Wisconsin: That's All, Folks. Go Home, Take a Bath.

Wisconsin's public sector union-damping bill was signed into law by Governor Scott Walker; making furious various factions of the Left here in the US of A. But if you think about it, this is a good thing for the nation as a whole. We've seen the rise of public sector unions, for no real purpose other than to fuel one political party. Now, with these unions in the public spotlight, more Americans will begin to understand the harm they've done to the political process.

The 1500 teachers who were slated for layoff are now assured of a job; plus, they get a raise, since they are no longer paying up to $1000 per year in union dues. Win-win for taxpaying people; lose-lose for Democrats and unions; a big win for the USA.

Now, the news cycle has moved. The tsunami tragedy in Japan has effectively staunched the wailing from the dirty hippies in Wisconsin.

Let's pull this curtain and move along, shall we?

A most satisfying video of Wisconsin Protesters (including fat-assed Michael Moore) going pants-shitting apoplectic.

OUSTED! Go home, take a bath, you dirty hippie.
MICHAEL MOORE: WAR AH SAY! THIS MEANS WAR!!11!1!!
...found at protein wisdom, where Jeff G excoriates He Of the Monstrous Pantsload...
Here’s a tip for you, fatsack: wearing the hat and the slovenly t-shirt and mouthing Marxist drivel doesn’t camouflage the fact that you’ve eaten far more than your fair share of the country’s pork.

And really, high school students calling for walkouts so that they can take a day off school? Not exactly the height of civic commitment.

Play actors. Frauds. Useful idiots. All carefully cultivated by years of media malpractice, leftist indoctrination, and the complacency of those who take freedom for granted — and who out of rote courtesy pretended out loud that our teachers are a precious commodity, even as they continued to fail our children. Honestly. These people have no idea how stupid they are — and if you tell them, that’s now “bullying” or “hate.” It’s a perfect storm of imbecility, fueled by unearned self-esteem.
Today, Governor Walker is expected to sign the union-busting bill. The Fleebaggers are getting to return home (hopefully bring home plenty of bedbugs from their stays in various Illinois hovels).

The next big news cycle will flush this from the headlines; but these Leftists will continue to whine and cry like the children they always were. The nationwide debate is on: must we suffer these public sector unions, who collect dues from their member's salaries (salaries paid by taxpayers) that are then given to the Democrats? In essence, giving taxpayer's monies directly to Democrat coffers.

There's the rub of it, the unholy alliance of Democrats and Union Thugs. Yes, thugs; if you don't like it, get back to me as soon as you find Jimmy Hoffa, bitches.

China to build 60 NEW NUCLEAR REACTORS in 10 years. USA? nope. We lose.

That's 6 new nuclear reactors a year for 10 years, increasing their nuclear power capacity to 70 gigawatts by 2020...

With an eye on reducing carbon dioxide emissions
, China plans to boost its reliance on non-fossil fuel energy sources to 15 percent of total supply. Currently nuclear power generation accounts for about 1 percent of overall electricity supply, so there is plenty of room for growth in this field.
While we, here in the USA, are still set back by the left lib envirowhacks.
The last newly-built commercial reactor to go on line in the US was in 1996. The construction permits were issued in January 1973.
That's ONE REACTOR in 23 years. You listening to this, Barack Hussein Obama?
With two years of preparation we can construct the facilities so that they can be commercially operable within five years. Unlike in Japan [OR THE USA], we do not encounter opposition from local communities.

With thermal power generation that uses coal still the main source of power in the country, nuclear energy tends to be seen as a clean form of energy.

A set of four generators costs about 50 billion yuan (about 600 billion yen or $7.25 billion) to build, meaning that local communities will benefit from new jobs and the tax income that is generated. [AND GUESS WHAT? THE STUPID AMERICANS ARE PAYING FOR IT! BWAHAHAHAHA1111!!!!1!!!!1!]
I want to remind you of the importance of nuclear power, vs. wind, solar, and other 'alternative energy' sources...

In order for "alternate energy" to become feasible, it has to satisfy all of the following criteria:

1. It has to be huge (in terms of both energy and power)
2. It has to be reliable (not intermittent or unschedulable)
3. It has to be concentrated (not diffuse)
4. It has to be possible to utilize it efficiently
5. The capital investment and operating cost to utilize it has to be comparable to existing energy sources (per gigawatt, and per terajoule).

If it fails to satisfy any of those, then it can't scale enough to make any difference. Solar power fails #3, and currently it also fails #5. (It also partially fails #2, but there are ways to work around that.)

The only sources of energy available to us now that satisfy all five are petroleum, coal, hydro, and nuclear.

My rule of thumb is that I'm not interested in any "alternate energy" until someone shows me how to scale it to produce at least 1% of our current energy usage. America right now uses about 3.6 terawatts average, so 1% of that is about 36 gigawatts average.

Show me a plan to produce 36 gigawatts (average, not peak) using solar power, at a price no more than 30% greater than coal generation of comparable capacity, which can be implemented at that scale in 10-15 years. Then I'll pay attention.

Since solar power installations can only produce power for about 10 hours per day on average, that means that peak power production would need to be in the range of about 85 gigawatts to reach that 1%.

Without that, it's just religion, like all the people fascinated with wind and with biomass. And even if it did reach 1%, that still leaves the other 99% of our energy production to petroleum, coal, hydro, and nuclear.

The problems facing "alternate energy" are fundamental, deep, and are show-stoppers. They are not things that will be surmounted by one lone incremental improvement in one small area, announced breathlessly by a startup which is trying to drum up funding.

The way you can tell that a fan of "alternate energy" is a religious cultist is to ask them this question: If your preferred alternate source of energy is practical, why isn't it already in use?
China: Winning the Future. And the present.

USA: Totally and unmercifully fucked by the controlling leftist elements of the Democratic Party.
