Progressiveness...internal divisiveness punished in the name of GROUPTHINK

You knew these were coming. See SondraK's t-shirt lineup.

The extreme anger from the Left over the New Yorker cover, however misplaced, will be put to good use as an example of how far they would go to limit speech and promote groupthink. The original artist (and New Yorker's editor) are destined to be in 'Liberal Dog House' forever.

We’ve seen the maddened left wrest ambiguous meaning and still-murky intent away from the artist and turn it completely inside out, and enjoyed the popcorn while the artist’s target audience beats him and his editor to a pulp! And, we’ve added that silly drawing to the trophy case of political mistakes where we all can laugh at it for the rest of this political season (and on into the future) while the Obamas fume.

Still, in fairness to the outlier artist, I believe there’s something else not yet uncovered…a whiff of vindictive nuance…because much of this backlash was so obviously predictable. There has to be someone behind a curtain. Not so much pulling the artist’s string, but definitely his editor’s.

Smells of male Clinton.

Blame Bush? Naaah...Really, we should Thank Bush

You can find them for a dime a dozen...Bush Bashers, that is. The term 'Mob' is an apt descriptor of the hordes of these Democratic (and some wayward Republican) Bush Bashers today; led by a few loudmouthed partisans and whipped along by the Main Stream Liberal Media, these 'mob' members, when under the influence of groupspeak, come across as the most mindless, cowardly, and ignorant bunch of idiots we've ever seen; truly the effect of the MSM's relentless BDS on most simple twodigit television watchers can be construed as 'mob rule'. The laziness and the 'ease of use' of BDS to blame every sort of problem on President Bush attracts every slackwitted lunatic capable of putting two words together (as evidenced by the success of KOS and most of the other fringe Marxist-school blogs...Democratic Underground, Sadly, No!, Firedoglake and the Huffington Post, just to name a few).

Do these silly-putty groups have any real, solid gripes? Other than just falling in line and playing follow their noxious leaders? Not really. President Bush will be judged fairly by historians, long after these basement boyz are back at their bongs.

I ran across this article written by Eric Dondero, who also publishes The Libertarian Republican...
George W. Bush has won not one, but two Wars under his administration: Afghanistan and Iraq. We caught Saddam Hussein, and then hanged him a year later. We killed his two ugly bloodthirsty murderous sons Uday and Qusay. After a year of the media crying "We may have got Saddam, but Zarcawi is still loose," we got him too. The War in Iraq was simply one of the most glorious victories for the United States Military in the history of our Nation. Afghanistan was won with lightening speed; less than 6 weeks. Both countries today are living under relative peace and calm with struggling but steady near democratic governments. They are beacons of light for the entire Middle East and South Asia.

Then there was Katrina: A stunning success by the Federal Government response, mainly the brave Coast Guard. Bush himself deserved a great deal of credit for the Feds' very rapid response. But it was a complete and utter disaster for the Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco and the New Orleans Mayor Nagen. (Remember the infamous school bus incident where Nagen's fleet sat in the parking lot instead of being used for evacuation?) How did the media spin it? Can't blame the woman Governor nor the whiny ever-complaining puppy-eyed Mayor. Blame it on Bush and the Republicans, of course.

Economy? Going on 7 years of solid growth thanks to the Bush tax cuts early on in his administration and the general Pro-Business deregulation climate promoted by administration officials. Media spin? Once again, Housing Crisis, not the fault of creditors who engaged in highly speculative lending to people who had no earthly means of buying and sustaining payments on a home. Nope. Blame it on Bush.

Energy? Media spin, blame it on Bush, not the Environmentalists who won't allow us to drill at the ANWR and off our Coasts. Story after story about Bush's failures on bringing down gas prices on average Americans. Meanwhile the media covers up the fact that nearly 30% of each dollar put into one's gas tank goes to the government at all levels by way of a myriad of taxes to state, federal and local governments.

Republicans share some of the blame, but not for issue stances, rather for being so naiive in face of such a massive liberal media onslaught. Sure, some fight back. Fox News is an outlet for regular GOP talking heads. But mostly Republicans cower in face of the liberal media Titans. They refuse to go for the jugular, cuss, scream and shout at the liberal media thugs, for fear of being perceived as "too unfriendly."

The fact that Republicans have sunk so low, simply shows that it's very difficult to defeat the liberal media. They are all-powerful. It's not the GOP's fault. Conservatives and libertarians need to take every opportunity to point out the massive bias in the liberal media against limited government principles. Or else, we'll continue to see the GOP brand sink in the polls amongst gullible Americans.
On my side, we, the 'good guys', who do not follow the mindlessness of the BDS mob, have our work cut out for us. I've always thought of politics as a pendulum, swinging from side to side; never really 'sticking' for long on either side, and probably best when crossing center. We are swinging wide left now, it seems. But as long as we can keep the marxist, fascist Leftists who now run the Democratic party from totally taking over, eventually things will return more to center.

And these 'mob' BDS Bush haters we are seeing so much of in today's pestiferous political punditry pools? Bush is leaving January 19. No more BDS, boys, you'll have to find somewhere else to wank. Eventually these anti-Bush mobs will turn on each other. The KOSKook sorts will find that no matter how hard they want to attain Marxist purity that just won't happen; the Al Gore global warmalists will go on a 'break' after finding that Earth's climate is not theirs to use as political tools; the anti-war fringe is already running out of complaints as both Iraq's and Afghanistan's fledging governments allow for people to choose and live their lives without cruel dictators; and I suppose the rest of the majority of these slack-jawed yokels will tune in Survivor or some other thirty-minute sitcom and wait for the next Olberdouche or Michael Moore or MSM talking vomitus head to siren-call them to arms. Or five fingers, as the case may be.

Now, I'm going on vacation. See you sometime next week.

...inspiration for this came from reading Iowahawk's post Blue State Blues as Coastal Parents Battle Invasion of Dollywood Values. There's no telling where I might find some good 'ole American intuition. Before I'm 'enlightened' to suffocation, of course.

Now I gotta go run a trot line 'afore my next gun show (at the Smyrna Expo center...click here for a $1 off coupon!)

Why wasn't this man President? William F. Buckley, Jr., head and shoulders (and an aura of pure mischief) above lesser Liberals

I'll bet Buckley's Presidential Endorsement this year would be "We prefer McCain."

I can't write any more than what you can read here at the New York Time's eulogy. The old gray lady can get some things right, occasionally; this piece is well put together (of course they've probably had it written for 10 years, in hopeful anticipation...

Personally, I became enthralled and in awe at a young age with Buckley's voice and his wickedly sharp barbs for the pompous assholes in elected office. I owe this guy much for the lasting impression he left on me.

Of course, with some of his views I'm sharply disagreeable. Of course, he wouldn't give a shit.

All the more reason to admire the man.

RIP YAF founder, sailboat rider, NRO and Firing Line founder, Yale tormentor, and Liberal scourge*, who stands athwart history as the Father of Modern Conservatism.

*Quotes...

“A Conservative is a fellow who is standing athwart history yelling "Stop!"”

Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.

Back in the thirties we were told we must collectivize the nation because the people were so poor. Now we are told we must collectivize the nation because the people are so rich.

“Liberals, it has been said, are generous with other peoples' money, except when it comes to questions of national survival when they prefer to be generous with other people's freedom and security.”

“Conservatives should be adamant about the need for the reappearance of Judeo-Christianity in the public square.”

Partisan Hacks attack President Bush's decision to bring down a wayward satellite

Southern Beale is all hot and itchy over this one...

"Considering how the Bush Administration could screw up eating a ham sandwich, I’m dubious about this plan:

US: Broken Satellite Will Be Shot Down

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon, under orders from President Bush, is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March, the White House said Thursday.

U.S. officials said that the option preferred by the administration will be to fire a missile from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere.

And, to really make like some crazy...
"Sounds to me like the military doesn’t want any “unfriendly governments” finding this thing. Which strikes me as really insane. We launched our current two-front war thanks to a gang of crazies with boxcutters. Our troops are being taken down by IEDs in Iraq. Why worry about foreign governments finding our old spy satellite technology?"

Jeeze. People there in BDSland are strange in their noodles.

Remember, other countries have trial lawyers, too. We can't be taking chances with possibly injuring some brown people or Joooooooosss....

From GlobalSecurity.org...
Ambassador James F. Jeffrey, assistant to the President and deputy national security advisor, said President Bush decided to bring down the satellite because of the likelihood that the satellite could release hydrazine, a toxic chemical used as a maneuvering fuel.

The fuel tanks, pressurized and all, are built strong enough to survive reentry. They won't survive a direct hit from a Navy ASM, or even a near miss.
“The likelihood of the satellite falling in a populated area is small, and the extent and duration of toxic hydrazine in the atmosphere would be limited,” Jeffrey said. “Nevertheless, if the satellite did fall in a populated area, there was the possibility of death or injury to human beings beyond that associated with the fall of satellites and other space debris.”

We certainly don't want to give any Democratic trial lawyers incentives to sue us.

And, we need try out our nascent missile defense systems.
The Navy has modified three SM-3 missiles aboard Aegis ships to strike the satellite, Cartwright said. The Navy wants to intercept the satellite at a point just above the atmosphere so there would be a high likelihood of bringing it down in an unpopulated area. An intercept also would rupture the hydrazine tank. The vice chairman would not say exactly where the ships would fire from, only saying it will be from the northern hemisphere and the Pacific Ocean.

Intercepting the satellite at about 130 nautical miles altitude will reduce the risk of debris in space. Once the satellite is hit, officials hope 50 percent of the debris will come to Earth in the first two orbits and the rest shortly thereafter, Cartwright said.

Niiice. And, no 'floaters' to 'destroy our space shuttle fleet'. The Chinese killed one of their satellites early last year, but much higher up than our planned interaction. They should've waited until it dropped a bit more, less mess.

Testing our abilities is critical to progressing the defense technology we count on to protect our troops. Remember the Patriot anti-missile batteries that protected Israel against Saddam's rockets in Gulf War I? Those untested batteries probably bought Saddam a few extra years to develop his WMD's in Iraq. Now, they are an important part of our (and our allies) defense networks. We need protection from even bigger payloads, since Russia and Putin are starting to rattle the old chains again.

But from Beale, nothing but BDS. If Hillary or Baracky were in office and proposed the same solution, why, these partisan hacks would shit all over themselves falling in line to agreeing with them.

'Liberal Fascism': Fascism, the term, was preempted by the Left for misuse on Conservatives; now it's reversed and returned...

Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left,
From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning
by Jonah Goldberg (Doubleday,
496 pages)

...with no postage due. And Leftists are hating on Jonah Goldberg for his temerity!

I've not yet read this book; I haven't even attempted to find it locally. But it's now on my buy-on-sight short list, especially after reading this teaser review post Jeff Goldstein presents.

Jeff links to Jonah Goldberg's blog (click on the nice red image, above, to spirit away), and specifically to Goldberg's response to his critic David Neiwert (follow the links from Jeff's post to Neiwert if you like) .

Here's some of Jonah's response, a preview of his style in the mammoth Liberal Fascism...)
"If fascism comes to America it will be in a form that large numbers of Americans see as popular and progressive."
...

"In short, Neiwert and his crowd want to own the right to use the word fascist as a cudgel against forces he doesn't like. And any attempt to wrest away their well-worn weapon will be greeted by every other weapon in their arsenal. It’s not pretty but it is predictable."
Yes, there's much evidence for that. The vitriolic Left has often demonstrated it's utmost style of chest-thumping hatred; look no further than the Bush Derangement Syndrome fountain that spews the groupthink Bushitler vile without any sign of letup...

I'm looking forward to finding this book, at Borders, or another fine bookseller nearby.

2007...goodbye. Recap, Image style

I can't do a 2007 Year in Review, after reading dAVe barry's syndicated column here. He's hit every high and low with teh funny. Just a sample...

"It was a year that strode boldly into the stall of human events and took a wide stance astride the porcelain bowl of history.

In short, 2007 was a year of deep gloom, pierced occasionally by rays of even deeper gloom. And as is so often true of bad years, it began with ...

January

... when Democrats, having won the November elections, take control of both houses of Congress with surprisingly little loss of life.

Upon taking power, the Democrats, who campaigned vigorously against the war in Iraq, and who hailed their victory as a clear voter mandate to get the troops out of Iraq, immediately get down to the business of being careful to not do anything that might actually result in the removal of troops from Iraq, in case that might turn out to be a bad idea. This is fine with President Bush, who calls for a "troop surge," based on his understanding of the comprehensive Iraq Study Group Report, as interpreted for him by aides equipped with 20,000 G.I. Joe action figures.

As the debate over Iraq intensifies, the eyes of a worried nation turn to another trouble spot: New York City, where Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell are locked in a bitter high-stakes battle to determine who is the bigger horse's ass.

In sports, a Los Angeles team signs glamorous British soccer star David Beckham to a $250 million contract. This raises eyebrows, both because of the amount of money and because the team is the Dodgers. But Beckham's glamorous presence quickly boosts ticket sales; within days the Lakers sign Angelina Jolie.

Sports remains in the news in ...

February..."
That's world-class tease, folks.

My own little look-back will be spartan, comparatively speaking. Since I'm into imagery, I'll just dump my favorite item from each month's posts, not exactly tying into dAVe barry's outline, but close enough.

Allan C. Kelly
1949-2007
R.I.P.

In one of the Skipper's final posts, he described his pending back surgery, and left these thoughts:
"Meanwhile, while you slept a few thousand more Mexicans crossed the border last night, Wal-Mart built six more stores somewhere, the trade deficit with China increased by a few billion dollars, the North Koreans and Iranians came up with seventeen more plans to prove they are barking mad and several thousand more non-Muslims were murdered in Darfur by followers of the Prophet For Profit.

"Then again, you already know all this and just need a place to get together and figure out what we’re all going to do when the roof caves in - and make no mistake, the rafters are crumbling. Depressing? Sure, but what are we going to do?

"We can start to fix our government eighteen months from now in the 2008 elections. The interim is going to be dicey as somebody out there decided in the last election to install a whole bunch of really crazy people in the Congress and Senate. That was not my fault, by the way - and neither was it George Bush’s fault.

"As for the rest of the sitrep, we can wall ourselves off from the rest of the world and experiment with isolationism again or we can continue to muddle our way through the minefield of international relations - and that is where the problem comes in. We’re just no damn good at realpolitik. Not this administration, the whole country has never been real good at the devious games diplomats play. We haven’t been at this game long enough to understand all the rules.

"All I can really tell you is (a) keep a firm grasp of right and wrong, (b) stay involved in government and watch the bastards in Washignton every minute, (c) use every legal means to make sure you can defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and (d) keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere."

Damn, he was succinct, and unnervingly right on the money. And that last paragraph is....knowing.

Twenty Political Questions (this is much fun!)

20 Political Questions: (seen at Ol' Broad's...I don't know if this is a meme or not, but I couldn't resist!)

  • 1. Anthropogenic climate change is…
Mankind's greatest success story. We've done what no other species ever has...taken over the world, for our own!
  • 2. Waterboarding is…
the unfortunate but inevitable result of being a terrorist.
  • 3. Abortion on demand is…
demanded by Democrats, sanctified as their Party's sacrament. Along with Union thuggery, BDS, Climahysterics and taxes. And Gay Marriage...

else has to do. Because of Gaia...
  • 5. Ron Paul is…
Ross Perot.
  • 6. Liberals believe you are rich if you…
...aren't on some sort of handout program (they can fix that if you would just elect them!)

Jealous, much?
  • 8. A progressive is…
a scratched leftist...
  • 9. Vietraq is…
Iraq, as seen by Murtha
  • 10. My Little Pony
My Silky Pony?
  • 11. The movie “The Elephant Man” was…
hmmm...based on human dignity, so is anathema to what elects Democrats. (NOT about Hillary Clinton's ankles!)
  • 12. Joe Biden is running for president because…
he lost the Democratic nomination in '88 to Dukakakis, and he figures he can drive a tank with more style...
  • 13. B. Hussein Obama should…
name his son Sue...
  • 14. John Edwards is for the little guy and…
will sue you if you don't believe him...
  • 15. Bill Richardson's chances of winning are directly proportional to…
the chances of Ron Paul seeming intelligent!
  • 16. Dennis Kucinich has a hot wife because…
he pays well?
  • 17. Al Gore does not want to run for president because….
he'd have to give up public transportation?
  • 18. Bill Clinton is…
still wishing for Monica and a hand-tossed pizza...
  • 19. If you are a liberal and you want your candidate to win, you should probably…
continue to rig the elections with dead voters, with paid-for voters (social programs seem to work), and plenty of illegal immigrants with driver's licenses...
  • 20. 200 liberals go to a global warming rally: what are they driving?
What, drive? They're chauffeured, man!
  • 21. And, for bonus points, Howard Dean is known as
a Screamer, baby~!

So...how does one get rid of a bunch of Tree-Sitters in Berkeley, California?

How about.... Lightning?

H/T SondraK

I remember first hearing about this dilemma from the announcers at the UT-Cal game September 1, 2007. The remarks were something of the sort that these lunatics were living in the trees, attempting to stop the new Sports arena construction. The Liberals at Berkeley were unsure how to get them out of the way.

Cal is still unsure how to git rid of them.
BERKELEY, Calif. - University of California officials have won the legal right to oust a band of tree-sitters who've taken up residence in an oak grove standing in the way of a planned sports center.

But how do you uproot a tree-sitter in Berkeley, one of America's most politically correct cities?

"Extremely difficult," acknowledges campus spokesman Dan Mogulof.

As the protest nears its one-year anniversary, plenty of people have suggestions: Fire hoses, skunk spray and tranquilizer darts are among the thorny ideas Internet posters have planted.

'Lions for Lambs', Hollywood's All-Star Bomb!

Imagine that...

I heard Tom Cruise did Lions For Lambs for "virtually nothing" to help kick-start his revival of United Artists. Without that, the R-rated movie starring Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, who also directed, never would have gotten off the ground. Maybe that would have been kinder. Because even with a very moderate budget of $35 million, the political polemic was killed by moviegoers and reviewers alike this weekend, opening to a paltry $6.5 million from 2,215 theaters with an anemic per screen average as well. Even with only a 92-minute running time, the pic even fell far short of the studio's rock-bottom expectations of $8 million.
That's pretty much what I expected. Who wants to see a film about losing when obviously we're not?

TennViews, KnoxViews, DailyKOS...Welcome LEFTARDs!

This expansion, courtesy Randy (South Knoxville Bubba) Neal, of the originally inappropriately-named "KnoxViews" to the now-even-more-inappropriately-named "TennViews" is just about complete. KOS East-Tennessee is now KOS-Tennessee.

I want to point out that the name isn't even right: Knox- and Tenn-Views are just a subset of leftard liberals who wish they had the entire State wrapped up to their leftist Views.

If leftists 'owned' a bit more of the State, other than just Memphis and Davidson County, then they could claim KnoxViews or TennViews, and not be such a damned bunch of liars (well I suppose they would definitely still be liars, just not in the name choice...)

Remember, 'tards, this is a Red State. Gore lost here in 2000, his 'home' state, and lost his chance to be President, went on to become a fatboy without a clue, and invented Globull Warming. And Harold Ford? Still trying to pass the bar?

So, my welcome to TennViews!

Democratic Underground Crying: Rush Limbaugh and The Letter: an EBay Skewering of Leftist PROGS

"....We need George Soroes [sic] to buy the items and destroy them.
If he can keep Air America on the air he should be able to come up with the spare change and win
...."
A quote from a DU Kommentor on Rush's Auction. Rush is selling that nassty letter Dingy Harry sent (signed by 41 lazy good-for-nothing Democrap Senators)...
When "Dingy Harry" Reid and the U.S. Senate turned away from the business of the nation to instead smear a private citizen, forty-one of them sent a letter demanding the "repudiation" of their inaccurate interpretation of Rush Limbaugh's comments about Jesse Al-Zaid (a.k.a. Jesse MacBeth) and other "phony soldiers" who falsify their service. This letter was delivered to Mark Mays of Clear Channel Communications, Rush Limbaugh's syndication partner, and widely quoted in the Drive-By Media.

Up for auction is the original letter signed by 41 Democrat senators. This historic document may well represent the first time in the history of America that this large a group of U.S. senators attempted to demonize a private citizen by lying about his views. As such, it is a priceless memento of the folly of Harry Reid and his 40 senatorial co-signers. BID NOW!

The entire proceeds of this auction.. the entire high bid... will be donated to The Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation, a registered charity which provides financial assistance to the children of fallen Marines and federal law enforcement officers. Rush Limbaugh serves on the Board of this organization and has been active on its behalf. All costs of this auction will be paid by the seller... every dollar of your winning bid will go to this charity, which has to date distributed over $29 million.
Yes, this is an excellent riposte from Rush, who always can find ways to turn the Progturds on their behinds. I'm posting the letter's 4 pages, here, for my own posterity. Click for the full size...

al-Qaeda in Iraq is described as "Crippled" by WaPo and FoxNews...this means that Democrats will want to send Foreign Aid?

Certainly it doesn't mean that our Majority Party in Congress will celebrate...after all, their entire political apparatchik is based on the US forces losing ground and seemingly being defeated. How can the Party of Progressives survive a crushing win in Iraq and Afghanistan?

From the WaPo...

Al-Qaeda In Iraq Reported Crippled

Many Officials, However, Warn Of Its Resilience

The U.S. military believes it has dealt devastating and perhaps irreversible blows to al-Qaeda in Iraq in recent months, leading some generals to advocate a declaration of victory over the group, which the Bush administration has long described as the most lethal U.S. adversary in Iraq. ... There is widespread agreement that AQI has suffered major blows over the past three months. Among the indicators cited is a sharp drop in suicide bombings, the group's signature attack, from more than 60 in January to around 30 a month since July. Captures and interrogations of AQI leaders over the summer had what a senior military intelligence official called a "cascade effect," leading to other killings and captures. The flow of foreign fighters through Syria into Iraq has also diminished, although officials are unsure of the reason and are concerned that the broader al-Qaeda network may be diverting new recruits to Afghanistan and elsewhere.

The Surge did it's job, it seems. Rather than pouring helpless US troops into a quagmire, Bush & Co. did the right thing. Give the US military a chance to do it's job, and watch out: the results will astound you. We haven't trained a bunch of surrender bots, after all...just the Democratic Leadership who relies on a campaign of political BDS to win votes for it's Progressive Platform.
